Rented a three bedroom static caravan for three nights. Beautiful location. The caravan was reasonable. It fulfilled our requirements for our weekend tourism. It had a good shower/bathroom and kitchen which where adequate and clean.
Our gas ran out on the first night. Owners promptly replaced cylinder. Our fridge packed up. Sheer bad luck. It was working on our first night!
The owners had no problem in making amends for food that was wasted. Cant ask for more than that! At all times they were very helpful, responsive and professional.
Overall the facilities are well maintained. Village of Dollar walking distance with a few pubs and hotels for food and drink. Beautiful scenic walks starting next to campsite. River right beside site too.
We will be back. Really enjoyed it.

Just back from a great weekend - My 10 year old son and I camped at Riverside in Dollar on the Saturday night, and then off to Knockhill on the Sunday (15 minutes down the road). Lovely site, beautiful location, and the owners couldn't be more helpful or welcoming. Toilets and showers kept nice and clean. No complaints.
It is a basic site, so no games rooms or play park, but there's no need - the surrounding area has lots to offer, and the view onto the hills from the camping area is fantastic. We spent the afternoon cycling a section of the Devon way (old railway converted to walking / cycling path). Fantastic, nice and flat so anyone can do it!
Plenty other stuff to visit in the area including the Castle, and Dollar itself is a nice wee town. Just has a lovely atmosphere to it, and the new owners add to that with their clear passion for what they are doing.

Although this site was taken over only a week or so ago by its new owners, already vast improvements can be seen to have been made.
We found the site to be very clean and Dean and Tracey could not have been more hospitable to us, on arrival and during our short, but most pleasurable visit.
Although we had typical Scottish weather (rain), this in no way spoiled our enjoyment. Good fishing and very clean toilet/shower blocks and all in all a highly recommended site.
We will definitely be back, sooner rather than later we hope.

We took over the management of Riverside Caravan Park in Dollar last Tuesday. Since then we have spent 140 hours between us cleaning, weeding, cutting grass, cleaning toilets, deep cleaning hire fleet etc and even implemented new procedures for checking the toilets and signing off that they have been checked and cleaned every two hours.

Stayed one night with two adults and three kids (5, 3 & 6 month old). It is in a lovely location and not too difficult to find.
It was quite quiet (not many pitches) when we arrived and the owner seemed nice & professional, saying the sort of things you would expect - where to pitch, safety, facilities, etc. We had plans for the evening so didn't really use more than the toilet block in the morning and that was clean and as you would expect a toilet block to be.
I was pleased that we returned from a wedding at 10. 30 pm at night and were still able to access the site but felt bad for the other campers!
We really only used it as somewhere to sleep but would consider booking in again we were passing through there.

Friendly owners but site is a huge let down.
We arrived on the Fri and was charged £22 per night for electric hook up for 3 of us, put right next to road and river where everyone walks past to fish and walk there dogs.
Thankfully site wasn't too busy this weekend but they were painting the shower/toilet blocks on the outside.
Personally they should of been concentrating on the inside, toilet block is dirty and hadnt had any cleaning inside done to it from when we arrived on Fri to leaving on the Sunday.
No hot water to wash your hands after using the toilet, you have to pay 20p for the shower which the machine for the money is actually outside the cubicle for the 1 and only shower in the ladies block.
There is also only 1 shower in the male block too, Lights didn't work in the gents at night, not sure about the ladies.
The dish washing facility is poor, outside the back of shower block with 2 sinks with only a cold tap not great for washing dishes, no shelter to protect you from rain, wind ect and boy did it rain on sat lol
Whilst we understand maintenance has to be done does strimming grass quite late into the evening have to be done when people are trying to relax and also the tractor engine running at the same time. Grass also far too long, feet up to the ankles were soaked when walking to toilet blocks.
Nothing to do on the site for young or older kids unless they like to fish.

I found this site to be friendly and clean but you have to be able to make your own entertainment as there is no facilities to speak of.
We managed to amuse our 2 year old in the rain and Dollar is very pretty and within walking distance.
The toilets were clean and apart from noise from the nearby road, the pitches for tents were absolutely fine. There are quite a few castles and walks around this area and this campsite would make a good base. We visited the campsite on a quiet, rainy day so it may be more lively in the summer but there was 2 teenagers looking very bored so maybe not ideal for older kids.

Have just returned after a 2 night stay. We were greeted warmly by the owners and given a choice of where to pitch and given advice about the pro's and con's of each area which we appreciated. £12 per night for the tent.
The main tent field was flat although the owner was trying to trace a broken pipe which made one end of the field very soggy, I'd hate to see the mess after a few days of downpours. It is quite near the busy road though and road noise is heard throughout the night.
They have EHU along the river and there were statics, caravans, motorhomes and tents using them. The river has a strong current in some areas and I'd be loathe to allow children to play in SOME parts of it, be very careful. Access to the river from the park side is not easy as statics and vans are parked right along it.
The toilets were not the best, very old and cobwebby, spiders and other insects abound, I really think the whole block would be more welcoming if a feather duster was taken round once in a while. I have to be honest too and say that one toilet had the same mark in it for the 3 days we were there, it was a removable mark but it was never removed, I'm not sure they had been cleaned in the time we were there.
However, I used another toilet. The shower was fine, usually 20p but the meter wasn't working so it's free at present. Two toilet blocks, was only in one and it only had one shower, never had to queue though but it was through the week out with Scottish school holidays.
Dishwashing area really needs upgrading. I read a review below which said they'd sorted the hot water in this area but the water was only cold. It's not undercover so you'd have to wash your dishes in the rain. All it needs is a wee perspex roof and hot water and it would be fine. Of course the answer is just to boil a kettle so it really wasn't a bother, however this may bother some folk.
I didn't think it was well suited to dogs, as it's so close to the busy road, although of course, dogs should be on leads. I didn't feel safe letting him off the lead along the river, although it is a lovely walk.
We didn't venture far, only into the village and into the co-op for supplies, but I did see a pizza shop opposite, there's also a cashline outside the co-op. Very busy village around school exit time though!
Would I return? Nothing I've said would put me off returning, it was quiet except the road which along with good dog walks was what we were looking for.I wouldn't go back with the dog though.

Just had another great weekend here, this is our second time visiting this site and have booked again. Joan and malcolm who run the site are very friendly and make you feel very welcome along with the other residents on site. The kids also had a great time swimming and fishing in the river. The toilet blocks are kept clean which is a bonus. Dollar is only a 15 min walk where there is a co-op, also you can have your chinese delivered which is a bonus haha. This site has no playpark on it but our kids don't mind as they have had a chance to explore and spent all there time in water anyway. All in all this a great wee site and would definitely recommend it, can`t wait to go back.

I have just returned from a weekend break at this site, I had a very relaxing time here. I had a pitch with electric hook-up.
I can see that this site is in the process of being upgraded.
Although this site does not have a designated children's playground the children who were at the site when I was there played in the river (under supervision) some even had blow-up boats and developed their rowing skills above the weir. On the opposite side of the river the kids played on a rope swing. These type of activities took me back to my youth when we made our own fun with what we had.
The people who are running this site could not have been more helpful and friendly and caravaners, so with their knowledge and experiences from touring I am sure they will implement changes to bring this tired looking site to glory.
When I visited the facilities they were clean and well stocked, the showers looked new (I feel that considering the site fee's that paying 20p for a shower in 20p to much).
Dollar itself has all that you need with a late opening shop (co-op)and a very good chip shop: we had and enjoyed a fresh made pizza, the chips were good also, and also a Chinese take away.
If you want to eat out you have a choice of two places in Dollar itself but if you are willing to go a wee bit further to Fish Cross you will find The Ochil view pub, the food is fantastic and the portion size is BIG.
In conclusion the site is well situated to tour this area and if you like shopping it is within easy reach of Tillycoultry.
