Hosted the UKCS Clackmannanshire meet here and left with mixed feelings, the pitches are okay and the grass was well enough trimmed, as previously mentioned the lack of hot water at the dishwashing areas is a major pain. Toilets were clean enough and having the 2 blocks meant that you had no long walks to use them.
I think the reason for the lack of investment was that Riverside has been up for sale for a while now and at the time of writing was under offer. With a bit of investment it could go from being an alright site to a good site
Hopefully I will be able to go back as it is the only site handy for Knockhill race track

This is a basic wee site right on the edge of Dollar, pitch sizes are sufficient for van + awning and the pitches beside the river are lovely there is also a nice tent field opposite the vans.
But in my opinion the toilet blocks and dish wash facilities could have been better. I spent 3 days on the site and at no time had hot water in the taps and no soap to wash your hands and My shower (20p) didn't work. There is no hot water feed to the dishwash area which is a bit strange and a bit of a pain, especially for tenters, also the area is uncovered, all it would take would be a bit of corrugated perspex above to make it easier in the wet.

This site is nicely situated on the riverbank and seemed quite popular with fishing enthusiasts. However, this was not intrusive.
The pitch was level but a bit small. There was a lot of noise from the small road bridge next to our pitch, even late at night. However the site is quite stretched out and the other end of the site is probably very quiet.
The toilet block could do with an upgrade. It was very tired and full of moths. I don't think that it was cleaned adequately.
It is a basic site. There is no shop or children's play area. The village of Dollar has excellent shopping facilities, including a Coop, a Deli, Post Office and some small designer type shops.
For someone looking for a quiet basic site in a nice location, I would recommend it.

Have just spent 4 nights at this site with another 3 families. Site was quite flat and convenient for visiting Stirling. Site owners very friendly and helpful. Toilets, were adequate and kept reasonably clean. Only 2 showers but didn't need to queue. However, the sinks used for washing up didn't have any hot water plumbed to them. First time I had every experienced this! All the men in the party liked fishing and spent sometime enjoying the free fishing. One day they decided to get an additional permit to fish further up the river, this only cost £7 per head. (still didn't catch anything worth keeping!) I'm sure that was down to the fishermen and not the river. Would certainly go back for another visit.

July 2005 Very nice well kept site. Disappointed that there was no hot water for doing washing-up. Toilets very clean. Site would benefit from small shop selling basic essentials.

This is a nice quiet site with level pitches within walking distance of Dollar. One side (with ehu) is next to the river and the other side (without ehu) is where we camped, plenty of space for the kids to run around safely. The toilets and showers are clean, while not many we never had to queue and this was during the May bank holiday weekend. Castle Campbell (in Dollar) is well worth a visit, stunning views. Its quite a climb but you can take the car most of the way. This site is ideally placed for visiting Stirling and surrounding countryside.

July 2003 A small site with basic facilities but pretty cheap. Not the prettiest part of Scotland, we were here to attend a wedding, so its location was the main attraction. The river didn't look too inviting, and of course in Scotland you always have to watch out for swarms of midges near water. Our tent was OK but the toilet block was practically covered in them!
Dollar has some places to eat and a Co-op and is only a short walk away. We had a fried Mars Bar from the local fish and chip shop which was rather nice. Alloa isn't far and is a big town with a nice Tescos.
Don't miss walking though Dollar Glen to Castle Campbell. Steep, but worth it!
