What a lovely, clean quiet site! Beautiful views, large pitches and friendly people. It's not a huge site and didn't have club room, etc, but we knew this before we went.
There is a road, but not over noisy and we got used to it. Lovely to see this part of Cornwall.

Firstly, great views, really beautiful. Also, the location within reasonable walking distance of Fowey and Polkerris Beach where the eating and drinking options are plentiful.
Site facilities are ok if a little tired. All kept pretty clean with everything there you really need.
Pitches (well certainly ours) are a good size with plenty of room for caravan, towing vehicle and awning. And of course the great view.
The welcome was efficient more than friendly but no real problems there.
The only real drawback? The site is adjacent to a busy road and the noise from this is noticeable at most hours of the day and night. This of course means that access to the site is pretty good but could impact any light sleepers.
Will we return - possibly, jury is still out.

Lovely well maintained site with well spaced out pitches all with beautiful sea and countryside views.
Great facilities including a small shop and helpful staff who provided a map of local walks, both through the fields to the nearby beach where we had a pub lunch and into Fowey.
Fowey is beautiful and whilst its an okay walk it would perhaps be an option to get a taxi back up the hill if visiting in the evening. There is also a local bus service.
Our only slight niggle was the road noise but I suspect pitches further down the site wouldn't hear this.

My family and I have just returned from a really enjoyable stay at Penhale Caravan site. The pitches are very spacious with beautiful far reaching views towards the sea.
The toilets were always kept clean, with a lovely addition of lots of vases of fresh flowers placed along the sinks. The site is well kept, the recycling bins and waste bins were emptied regularly and all the members of staff we met were very helpful and friendly.
There is designated walk from the campsite along the fields, this leads down to the road to Polkerris, where we enjoyed excellent food and a drink or two at the beachside Rashleigh Arms. There are lots of good takeaways in the local area and as we also took our car, were able to visit lots of attractions all over Cornwall.
The only downside is that the campsite is situated on a narrow fast main road which does not have any paths, so walking or bike riding along this steep road into the local town of Par isn't very safe, but in a car or on the bus, no problem at all.
We would definitely recommend this campsite and would love to return here next time we venture down to Cornwall.

Positive - Excellent location. 5 minutes drive from Fowey. Lovely walks from the campsite. Excellent sea view.
Negative - the toilet/shower block seemed to be cleaned once per day. This is insufficient for the number of guests on the site. By the following morning the showers were still full of sand/dirt/grass. Unlike many other campsite we have stayed on, there was no mop available for guests to give the main showers a quick clean between usage. The toilets frequently ran out of toilet paper in the evenings. On both Thursdays that we stayed there, the handsoap in both the ladies and gents toilets ran out late afternoon. During our second week this had not been replenished by 9. 45am the following morning. The dishwashing area had four sinks, with only two plugs. We actually purchased a plug from a hardware store in order that we could wash up. Underneath the sinks was filthy and had not been cleaned for sometime (many dead spiders/grass on the floor).
This site has an amazing location and would be fantastic if more time was allocated to maintaining its facilities.

Lovely site, owner Jenny very welcoming, constantly cleaning toilets etc this site is a credit to her and all staff.
Only criticism we had (our group of 4 couples and 4 large tents) is that the tent field is very sloping, we had to level out our beds, tables etc as best we could with lots of wood planks (which we brought for our campfire!), its a shame because otherwise a perfect site.
Jenny was happy for us to have our essential campfire, ours is self contained and raised off the grass and also used for cooking on every night.
They sell milk at only a couple of pence more than the supermarket and other basics bacon etc.
You can walk to Polkerris beach from the site, turn left out of the fields when you get to the road and it is a little rocky, turn right and going down the hill is fine but coming back is not for the faint hearted, it is incredibly steep. There is a couple of pubs and little shop, views are gorgeous.
Not sure if we would go back, but if we didn't it would be purely for the sloping issue.

A lovely, quiet site with fantastic views. Most pitches were laid to grass, with a few hard standing ones along one side. We had a serviced pitch and the site's wifi was free and we never lost the signal, even at night. The owners were friendly and non intrusive, we didn't see them very much during our weeks stay.
The village of Fowey was about a mile away and easily within walking distance. It has a harbour and some old fashioned shops, well worth the walk. We also did one of the trails which was on a map given to us by the site owners, a slightly longer walk to Par Sands. The beach is dog friendly and is very sandy. Our three dogs had a great time there, and there is a pub nearby with a huge beer garden, which is also is also dog friendly.
The local bus (Nr 25) picks up and stops just outside the campsite. Dogs can use the bus and are free. We used it to go to St Austell but it does go further. Unfortunately being a local bus it does go round the block and back a bit! There was a bus stop about ten mins down the road where you can get the Nr 24 bus which we think is a more direct one and goes to Truro. We used the train from Par Station to go to Truro. Dogs were allowed on the train and were free. Truro was much larger and had all the high street shops you would expect of a large town.
We would definitely stay here again as it was so peaceful. We didn't use the showers so couldn't comment on them. There was no play area or club house on site.

This site could easily be a top rated site but a couple of things let it down. The toilets were not cleaned daily and on Sunday I had difficulty finding a clean enough shower to use. It is obviously looked after but maybe a staff shortage. The other annoyance was the noisy cattle. They had probably had their calves removed. They were so noisy 24 hours a day. Obviously this won't happen year round but it was really bad for the four days we were here
The site itself is in a good location. And the terraced field means everyone gets a good view of the sea. Walk to par beach in about an hour. Long and short routes to Fowey _ the long route along the coast path is my favourite but it's up and down. Fowey beach is not dog friendly _ why as no one else was using it but the beach near Menabilly is and it was popular with dog walkers. Polkerris beach too was empty as no dogs allowed so the pub there didn't get our custom either whilst the Ship at Par beach was full and Par beach, with all it space and dunes was full of doggy types. Perhaps Cornwall should review it's beach dog policies just as Heligan an Eden have allowed dogs so as to increase their visitor numbers.

Brilliant. Easy booking. Warm welcome at reception. We pitched up in the smaller field. No electricity and most pitches a bit sloping, but all well drained, plenty of space and fantastic views across the bay. Facilities good on the whole. Washroom well equipped and kept clean. Plenty of hot water for showers except at peak periods. Dish washing room is too small so significant queues in evening. Only 4 sinks and not good that the friendly chicken was resident on the work surface. Children liked this but not good for hygiene, especially chicken mess by sinks!
Site v quiet at night, even when crowded. Great to see children having so much fun in all the space and campers all friendly and relaxed.
Wonderful coastal walks from the site, some great beaches within 20 mins walk and a good pub and cafe, as well as fin swimming at Portkellis. Fowey easy to reach on foot, too, as are walks across the estuary via the 2 ferries. All in all a really nice base for an active summer break.

Great campsite with lots of things to do within a short drive. All in all a brilliant location with nice views. Staff were helpful and provided advice on local amenities and activities.
The 10/10 I've given for camp facilities is solely for people without disabilities;the bathrooms are doable at a push for a very skilled wheelchair user (e. G. Up a step and corner) but cubicle doors can't be closed and showers unfortunately weren't accessible either.
Having said that staff were very helpful and there shower stools are great for people with people with reduced mobility. It probably wouldn't take much to make the campsite a little more accessible.
Freshly cut flowers from the beautiful flower boxes in the bathrooms was a real plus, as was having removable shower stools in the showers. Having the library and the freezer with icepacks we could borrow was an absolute lifesaver. The cheeky camp chicken was an entertaining and kept all children highly amused!
Would definitely recommend.
