Had a lovely weekend stay at this very peaceful, sheltered campsite. Great facilities and spotlessly clean. Dogs welcome but lots of rules in place about tether lengths etc. Campsite owners dogs were barking a lot but thunderstorms probably didn't help. Nowhere on site to walk your dog, you have to walk them offsite which means taking them onto a fairly quiet country road with no pavements. We don't have kids but the older kids there entertained themselves playing boule on the grass which made for good entertainment. I'd say this campsite is aimed at adults but is far enough away from any roads to be safe for kids and great for a short break or overnight stop en route to somewhere bigger.
Didn't make it to the local pub but it looked lovely and plenty of other campers went. We had a BBQ and the site owner very kindly made sure we were near a bit of hard standing to place it on. Owner was very helpful on arrival making sure we got electric, directions to toilets, showers (50p), water point, bins, etc and also checking everything had been ok for us as we left.
Only downside was not having prices on the website. Told £12 per night when I booked by phone (which was honoured) but £14 when I arrived PLUS extra for electric and awnings. Still very reasonable for a weekend in July but very lucky to have taken extra cash with me because the nearest cashpoint is probably Cricklade (which is a local town with some great pubs) and they don't take cards. Prices seem to based on the length of your caravan/motor home so make sure you check the price before booking/travelling.
Overall we had a very relaxing weekend which is exactly what we set out to do. Would definitely go back if we were looking for another chilled trip out.

We have just returned from an absolutely brilliant stay at The Second Chance Touring Park. The weather was fantastic and the stay was 5 Star! Great facilities which are spotless, beautiful views, pleasant and helpful staff. Level ground which makes it great for tents or caravans. We had an awning, dog and electricity with no issues and competitive rates. Would definitely recommend!

We just returned from a 1 night stay, the site has everything you need! We would definitely return to this site because it is 15 minutes from where we live and it is so quiet and peaceful! The owners dogs did bark when we walked past with our dog but they were quiet at night. When I checked in the lady did say they have dogs due to the remote location of the site which is understandable, so the barking didn't bother us! We walked to the Red Lion which was just quarter of a mile up the road and there are quite a few public footpaths across the fields for exploring! Next time we go we will take our kayak because we could access the river from the campsite. It's inbetween Swindon and Cirencester, with easy access to Fairford, Highworth, South Cerney and Ashton Keynes water park so there is definitely plenty to do if you are new to this area! They are currently upgrading some areas of the site and they will be replacing the ladies coin operated showers with the push button operation which will be a good thing!

Myself and my boyfriend visited this campsite last weekend. This is a small, quiet, well kept campsite. Owner was helpful and friendly. Toilets are kept very clean. Ladies showers take 50p coin, but you get about 10mins which is plenty long enough. Plenty of space in the fridge and freezer in the washing up room. We paid £10 a night for a 2 man tent which is good value for money in August. There is a pub in walking distance of half a mile although we didn't visit it.

We had a lovely weekend at this camp
The owners were really helpful
The camp was well maintained
Even though they had a lot of rain in the area the camping area was still kept up together
It is rural but only 5-6 miles from Fairford,
No shop but this was not a problem for us,
The facility block was clean and tidy mens showers were free but ladies were 50p, we did ask about this and were told the ladies will be up graded to push showers in the near future,
The camp do take dogs but to our relief the camp has strict rules about keeping them under control,
Great pub within walking distance, great walks all around, good water parks a short drive away, fishing on site, Fairford village lovely,
While we were there a young group came to stay but were well behaved as the camp also have rules in place about noise and behaviour, also a plus for us as some camps just seem to let people do what they want ruining it for other people, they do only take cash payments though if you haven't booked and paid in advance so go prepared,
Our children had a great time catching cray fish helped by the elderly owner,
We would recommend this camp to our friends, and we will be going back in 2013

Clean, flat, small campsite.
Despite riverside location, campers aren't allowed access to riverbank except to launch canoes. A shame, as we chose a riverside campsite so the children and dog could paddle.
Lovely area - short drive to waterpark.
Very strict rules regarding visiting dogs - dogs had to be kept on a lead no longer than 5ft at all times! Campsite owners dogs kept barking and barking.
Had hoped to be able to walk the dog along the Thames Path from the campsite but found the path was on the other side of the river so we couldn't get to it without walking into the village.
Many, many signs in Ladies washblock about rules etc. All facilities clean, though.
The Men's showers are free with lots of water. The Ladies showers cost 50p with barely a trickle of water! Luckily as the water is very hard, it doesn't take much water to wash the soap off!
No children's play area.
Lots of caravans seemed to be permanent.
There is a fridge freezer available in the washing-up block - but we didn't know it was there as no-one had told us. Found it the next day when we went to wash up the breakfast things.
Main benefit of this site was its (1/4 mile) proximity to an excellent pub with good value and very tasty food!
Ok for a short stay but I wouldn't want to stay for a holiday.

We have just returned from a very enjoyable short break at this site. The owners seemed pleasant enough, the site small but well equipped.
Toilet and shower block very clean and delighted to find a fridge and freezer for guests to use - ideal as our ice packs defrosted after Day 1!
A few points to note however - this is a very quiet site, we had 6 small children with us and even though there was space for them to run around and play games, if the site was full they would have struggled.
We also got the impression that some guests were there for peace and quiet and didn't appreciate children running around! The campsite only takes cash payments, which was a shock as no mention of this on the website.
Also you need a 50p coin for the shower. Not a problem for either of the above but as the site is 10 mins drive from the nearest cashpoint I think it would make sense to advertise these points on the web site so guests come prepared.

The site is very pleasant, a single flat field with the young river Thames close at hand. It is well located for the Cotswolds and is set in lovely countryside. We went with some trepidation as it is close to RAF Fairford, but during the time we were there no aircraft disturbed the peace.
Why is it that only the female showers cost 50p for twelve minutes? The male showers are free. When we were there no soap was provided in the toilets. There are curious notices throughout the facilities, it seems there must have been a particularly unruly bunch of female visitors at some point as there are signs in the female side of the loo block.
The water in the showers was always hot, if not plentiful,(the shower head in one of the male showers being partially blocked) it would suddenly stop.
My partner found that the temperature of her shower varied wildly from cold to scalding and suggested that Mothers with young children should be vary wary of this as a child could be scalded.
My partner also pointed out that of the five loos, only two had door locks that worked, she was trapped in one for several minutes and only got the door open with very great effort.
Sadly while we were there the floors of the toilet block were not cleaned on the male side and so had grass and mud in the shower cubicles. On the female side there was a sign admonishing the ladies to clean up after themselves with a mop provided (or, according to the sign, the shower 'facility would be removed'), no such mop was provided so the floor went un-cleaned.
Having said all of the above, the site is generally pleasant with a friendly atmosphere. In our opinion the site owners just need to pay a little more attention to detail.

The lady at reception was friendly and helpful and because the site was fairly empty when we arrived we chose to pitch furthest from the toilet block. This was clean and tidy but the hot water from the showers was a little intermittent and the 50p seemed to run out quickly but 'hey' this is outdoors and it is one of the better facilities we have experienced to date.
One of my pet hates is dogs barking and the owners do have one that barks at everything, I was even more upset when the campervan turned up next to us with a jack russel that jumped out and started yapping. Just to finish it off the guy in the caravan behind us got a call at 7am Sunday morning and was discussing the intimate dregs of his life at the top of his voice.
Guess its the luck of the draw at any site though. Apart from the dogs and neighbours we thought it was a nice site and handy for the water park.

Our visit at Easter 07 was very pleasant. The owner was polite and helpful and we had our choice of the flat field to pitch in as it wasn't very busy. The shower block was clean with toilet roll provided. Showers were 50p and were plenty long enough. The site has a few residents but it was very quiet and peaceful and is right next to the river although we couldn't find a walk along the riverbank. There is plenty of picturesque places to visit and we managed Cotswold Wildlife Park, Fairford, Lechlade, a country walk and a garden centre before heading home. The nearest pub 'The Spotted Cow' a pretty cotswold inn, does very good food and has a childrens swing and outside seating.
