Being beside the river this site should be very pleasant. I cycled there with my two children we were shown to a spot near to the river, very nice until nightfall. This part of the site seems to be inhabited by long-stay residents. From about 9pm we were treated to a very loud selection of 70's prog' rock from a caravan I complained to the slightly woozy chap in the caravan - he turned his music down until about 1am when it started getting loud again and some of the other permanent residents started with drunken chatting until about 4am. This can be a bit worrying when you only have a small tent and no car to separate your children from a very unpleasant atmosphere.
If you do go to this site keep away from the long stay units! Although this site is CCC registered it should not be as it really is not up to standard. The washroom is purpose built but very poorly maintained. The owners didn't seem that interested in what goes on in the site.

We stayed at this site in late May 06 for the Bank Holiday Weekend. When we arrived at the site the weather was miserable! We waited a long while to be checked in. Despite ringing the bell we did have to resort to calling the site by mobile phone. The lady warden showed us to our pitches and that was all we saw of her. We weren't shown the toilet or shower facilities and while the site isn't huge the showers did take some negotiation and an explanation would have been nice. We also weren't shown the washing up facilities or freezer facilities this also would have been a nice welcoming touch. As it was Bank Holiday the site did begin to fill up but as it is only a small site there was no issue with toilet or shower facilities really. The showers are hot and last for ages well worth 50p. Clean and tidy nothing more to say really. There are a number of caravans that look to be on site permanently. Our pitches backed onto these and we were woken late when a car pulled up to one, which was a bit of a shock at 1am! The local pub at Castle Eaton was great with its own beer and the food looked great as well, we even came second in the pub quiz! Cotswold water park was close by. We had a lovely afternoon at Bourton on the Water too.

We found this campsite purely by chance, we were trying to book 2 tent pitches for the bank holiday and everywhere we tried was booked up. Second Chance campsite was the only place that had space so we booked it for 3 nights. Really lovely place, right next to the river, and we'll definitely go back again. There are some fantastic gastro pubs nearby. The only downside was the lady owner who seemed very unfriendly and unwelcoming.

A small, quiet, well kept site on flat ground with only one other tent when we were there on bank holiday weekend. Mostly seemed to be semi-permanent or touring caravans and mostly older people visiting. No facilities for children, except perhaps the resident goat! The river is right at the edge of the site, through open gates. Very convenient for visiting the Cotswolds Water Park, though this was a great disappointment to us as it seemed to have only a few private or overpriced facilities, fast traffic on roads, and not much for families - probably great if you like fishing.

Spent last weekend with two friends at this little campsite near Fairford air base. On Friday afternoon when we arrived, the campste was quiet with plenty of space. We pitched on the left hand edge by a fetching statue and a nice shrub border. Ok to start with but behind the shrubs...the macerator and cess pit! Lovely whiffs of drains on the hottest weekend of the year so far! The power supply to the wash rooms was unpredictable, hopefully they'll have it fixed soon. The campsite filled up by Friday night and was overcrowded. Tents too close for comfort especially when they are full of small children. When everyone left on Sunday...bliss. The skylarks sang and we were tempted by a swim in the river Thames at the bottom of the field. If you do visit, go to the North Field nature reserve in Cricklade but go before July when they cut the hay! The wild flowers are stunning!

Good site, small but all of the ground is flat of of good quality.
Usually facilities are of reasonable quality, bit of a pain with the 50p's for shower, but at least you get good amount of HOT water.
Rotary dryers a great idea apart from they are shaded in the morning so nothing will dry till the afternoon!
Red Lion 0.5 miles serves good food and great ale, watch out for the girl who plays some intrument from the era of Henry V111, Earplugs are not provided!. Good raffle on Saturdays, you'll have to visit to find out more. On your own??Kelvin will talk to you!

August 2002 This was quite a little find, sited as it is near the source of the River Thames, and very convenient for Cirencester and also not a million miles from either Bath or Oxford.
At 1.7 acres, it's a very small site, so I'd advise booking, and bear in mind that you won't be far from your neighbours due to the size of the site so you'd better be friendly!
Flat, grassy pitches, and a sheltered location, with a mix of tourers, campers and statics. Great toilet facilities - the showers require 50 pence pieces, but you get plenty of hot water for your money. Washing up facilities were equally smart. A nice touch were the rotary washing lines and pegs that were available to all for drying towels or laundry.
Fishing is available onsite, and there are a couple of country pubs within either a short drive or a longer walk. I believe there is also a local shop in Marston Meysey just up the road, but I didn't check it out as I packed supplies. Tourist information available on site from the site office.
