 A nice entrance with a gravel road to the reception hut. There are very high speed bumps.
There was nobody on reception when we arrived. A small grass area on the left. We got pitched up. The grass was patchy and worn out in places.
The pitches are not marked and one of the water taps had been run over.
The gents have 2 showers but there is nowhere to change in private, the ladies, I am told are in need of a refit and smelt very damp on arrival. Mops provided to clean up after a shower are filthy.
There are permanent caravans and residential caravans around the site. There is a covered washing up area and fridge/ freezer which we were able to use.
Access to the river had been cleared.
No facilities for children to play.

What a lovely site by the upper reaches of the Thames - perfect to kayak from.
Our stay marred by terrible weather but looking forward to returning when the river has dropped a few inches!
Clean and characterful facilities, quiet and a beautiful area

Access road down a country lane & then a long impressive drive to the Camp site. Signage of the site could have been a bit larger & not placed on the ground. Not the best welcome I've had at a campsite! But the lady showed us to the pitch & gave a brief introduction.
The pitch was an ample size & flat & well maintained grass. EHU was excellent of high amp, no tripping of electricity. It's a small site with tourers tents & statics. There were workmen living on site in caravans, but they went early & came back late, with no cause for concern.
There's a toilet block with 2 showers for the male & 2 female in a prefab type old building, although the Male part was modern, the female part was awful. Very outdated smelt old & damp, it appeared clean. Really needs updating!
There was a kitchen area too with a fridge, great if camping, no laundry facilities. The site has the river Thames right alongside. No facilities for children, too small an area to play really as cars came in & out quite frequently.
Its situated in an ideal area with many attractions near by. Is a 15 min walk to a local village with a good pub doing meals which you could sit along the riverside & watch canoes & kayaks go down stream.
Although it had a few downsides, I would go there again as the location is a winner & it's not expensive to stay there.

We had a great stay. Lovely site, great location for the Cotswolds and nearby Swindon.
Our welcome could have been a little better…
The toilets/showers are the only real negative points of the site. The ladies toilets/showers are VERY outdated and the men’s showers have no privacy. I don’t think they were cleaned very often either!
I would definitely return to the site 👍🏻

Simple but good place to stay. Showers were nice and hot and clean.
Lawn where we pitched tent was very nice and the campsite quieted right down after 10pm.
It’s not fancy but very reasonably priced and perfect after a full day of walking!

Bit of a frosty greeting on arrival but not a major issue. Smiles and politeness cost nothing but make all the difference 😁
Pitch was fine and well kept. Nice location, would have been more peaceful if group parties weren't permitted. Having said that, don't want to be fun police, perhaps an allocated separate pitch for groups.
Facilities basic but clean,
Kitchen/washup area with fridge freezer which was really handy for us.

Beautiful grass pitches. Clean and quiet site with just an open area nothing specific for children although some toddlers enjoyed the open space. Gents washrooms new but ladies still need updating but spotlessly clean nonetheless.
Lovely staff. Safe area with walks available along the start of the Thames river. Pub within 15 mins walking distance. Other than that no road noise nor buildings just countryside.
Indoor wash up area with fridge freezer for use.
We will return.

Location is great for the RIAT Airshow, but the toilets were dirty, unkept with only 1 male sit down toilet that was lockable, the shower tile floor was broken; No gas available, we had to travel 20 miles to collect a bottle, everybody was crammed in like sardines and to top it off, it was very expensive £34/night plus 50p to use the shower in the Female block.

Impressive drive in but facilities are old. The small field was OK and had a nice touch of a clothes airer and fridge and freezer for anyone to use. Facilities were old and yes the ladies get charged 50p for a 12min shower and the men do not. None of the loos could be locked in the ladies and the only mirror is behind you not in front of the sinks.
This site is OK for a stopover and I think once it has finished to be refurbished it could be a very nice site.
There are people living on site and literally treat it as their home. Talking on the phone walking around our tent at 11pm and dogs barking at midnight means use it as a stopover if you have a motorhome but maybe not use it for a weekend in a tent.

The site was on a quiet road and long drive to actual site, no problems getting in. On arrival we were greeted by barking free roaming dogs, we were also told that we could not park on the grass as it had rained, then directed to a bit of hard standing next to a hedge full of mosquitoes down near the river, but instructed that this was private and there was no access to the river on this side, if you wanted a river walk you had to go into town (about 1/2 mile) to cross the bridge and do the same on your return, left us a bit speechless as we chose this site because of the riverside location.
We have a small dog so every time we took it out you have to walk past reception and the three owners dogs go wild bark bark bark, the same when anyone came on site, 24 hours a day, not that peaceful. The other side to this was that there was a long list of what you have to do with your dog,
No walking it on the site,
Lead must be less than 6 foot and dog must never be off lead.
Your dog must not be noisy as to disturb others on site ?
Etc etc.
The mens showers were adequate but really need to be refreshed they were dark inside, really tired paintwork, and only two showers which in busy periods I could see being a bit of a problem even though it was a smallish site.
I have never been on a site that had so many notices all over the shower/toilet block about leaving them clean and ensuring nothing is left in the pan before you leave, no emptying sluices down the toilets, all a bit uncalled for. In the mens there were hooks for hanging clothes but no seating at all to wipe your feet after a shower, you just walked on the cold tiles then a muddy rubber mat and got dirty feet again.
My wife said the ladies from my description were a lot cleaner than the mens, but she had to use the 50 pence to get the showers working, something that everyone has queried, while the mens you do not? In the three days we were their the mens block was not cleaned by staff, or the bins emptied.
Overal for us the site done its job, we could see nothing on site that would have made the stay easier, we asked where we could get some provisions, you have to travel about 5 miles to the co-op at Fairford for these, something to think about if you run out of bread or milk.
We were visiting relations in Swindon, we picked the site as it was near to those people, because of this we were offsite a lot. Initially the owners made us feel very welcome, but the undertones and notices related to the site makes it a bit of a letdown, if we were to go that way again we would look to a different site, unless dramatic change was made in lots of areas.
I have tried to be constructive in this review, the owners have done nothing to make it a bad review, but hopefully if they want the site to prosper with great reviews the few mentioned areas should perhaps be looked at.
