I camped here for a week with my husband and young son and we will be returning.
The owners are very friendly, and Pete helped my husband put the tent up and even parked his Landrover in front of it for two days as a wind break! I use an electric wheelchair and again they were very helpful, providing free battery charging for me.
The playground is great - an old hollowed out boat, buoys hung from a frame and tire and rope swings, plus a sandpit. The kids are also allowed (encouraged) to climb the trees, so my son loved it, as did the older children on the site.
The site itself is well cared for, grass is short and fields are separate so someone wanting a quiet weekend could camp away from the family field.
The facilities are basic but clean and plentiful - there are several showers and 6+ toilets so we never had to queue. They were cleaned regularly and yes, there are a few daddy long legs and moths, but this is a site that has won awards for WILDLIFE so I'm not sure what people expect!
With regards to wildlife, you can watch seals in the cove that is a few minutes walk along the coastal path that the campsite is on, and we often watched buzzards while sat outside the tent with a cup of tea.
Within walking distance are several beaches and if you drive there are numerous beaches and castles to visit. We stayed for a week and still have new things to see when we return.
If you want a Caravan Club 5* site, this isn't for you. It is a fairly basic site with no shops or arcades, but if you enjoy real camping and want to get away from it all then I highly recommend you give it a try.

I love this site, its basic but brilliant. Everything is recycled and so different and unique. You can hire fridges which is great, charge you phones. Nice and quiet. Owners are wonderful and helpful. Lovely walk along the coast, the sunsets are amazing. Not overcrowded and very relaxing place to be. Plenty of space for the children to play and plenty of facilities for the size of the camp. Will definitely visit again.

We stayed at this site for 5 nights. On arrival the owners were friendly and pleasant. We had planned to pitch in the family field so as to be near the play area but this turned out to just be a swing and not really suitable for our 3 year old so we asked to pitch in the sea view field instead.
It is quite special seeing a strip of blue sea just above the hedge! The owner was happy to give advice on the weather forecast as we were a bit unsure about wind coming straight off the sea.
The site was nice and quiet although the pitches were nearly all occupied in the field over the weekend. From the site you can walk through the grass maze and look in the rather unusual shed and then walk along the cliff tops and look for seals.
The facilities were basic but cleaned every day, I would recommend using the showers off the family field as there is more space and an electric point for using a hairdryer etc
The Llyn Peninsula is very pretty and we haven't been to a beach yet that we didn't like.

First impressions of this site is that it is well kept, very clean. We were on the sea view pitch with ehu which we were shown to by the owner. It was quite windy at times given the distance from the sea. The facilities are basic but clean and as it was quiet when we were there, more than sufficient for our requirements, with 4 toilets/showers and 3 washing up areas. Payment is by 20p metres as the wash up hot water takes a while to warm up, could be a queue problem when the site is busy,
A five minute walk and great sea views saw the seals swimming in the bay. A twenty minute walk or 10 minute drive and short walk takes you to a long sandy beach with very few people around
The site makes a good base for touring, went to Pwllheli market on Wednesday and topped up with food from the supermarkets. Drove down to the peninsula, some great sea views and lovely countryside
Would certainly visit the area again.

Just returned from a 4 day break in a tent at this campsite. Originally planned to be a week, the trip was cut short due to bad weather but the owners were understanding of this.
This was our second visit to the site and we will go back again and again; it is an amazing place. The views from the Sea View Field are outstanding, especially at sunset. The facilities are less than a minute's walk away from all pitches.
Despite being a tad dated, the facilities are extremely clean, and the 20p charge for water (for showers and washing up) really isn't that much of an issue when you consider how low the site's tariff is. The site was about half full but did not have to queue/wait at the facilities once- although perhaps the reason for this was that many people were in campervans/caravans.
Turn left out of the back of the campsite walk for about 30 mins along the welsh coastal path and find untouched sandy beaches. Turn right, walk for 15mins and find untouched bays with rocky beaches- home to a seal colony.
Is rather out in the sticks in terms of phone signal and supermarkets etc- but there are many local village shops and a Lidl within 30 mins. A wonderful site- will definitely return.

We (family of five) stayed for 5 nights over Jubilee halfterm. This is a beautiful campsite. Spacious, very helpful owners, great for children, spectacular location - 2 min walk from coast - 5 min walk in one direct along cliffs takes you to rocky coves with families of Seals swimming and basking on shore.
In the other direction a 15-20 min walk gets you to a lovely sandy beach - you can get to the same beach by car from campsite in 5 minutes but (apart from walking a mile up the beach from car park) the only way you can get to the northern bit of beach is by walking from campsite so virtually nobody there.
Everyone was very friendly and the children were able to play and just roam.
Not sure if they have been improved since some of the earlier comments on this site but we had no issues at all with the facilities and have seen much, much worse. There are 4/5 separate toilet/shower rooms (as well as mens toilets) which are regularly cleaned and the 20p showers were always hot. The site was full (but didn't feel crowded) and we never had to queue.
The owners don't try to sell you anything so no constant asking for ice creams from kids - and its was really good value - 2 adults, 3 children, 5 nights £89.
Would strongly recommend.

The site was full as it was the Jubilee bank holiday week, but wasn't over full, so well managed. There was a good family atmosphere, and very welcoming. It was immediately apparent that many families had been several times before.
The play area was basic and has a marine theme, but our kids loved it, especially recycled Bouys on ropes and the old boat! There was plenty of space in all the fields for games. We were very at ease on the site and happy to let the kids enjoy space and freedom
Facilities were not over stretched. Basic but kept clean. Great washing machine and drier.
We appreciated the sanctuary of the games room when the weather was foul. Thank you sue.
The site is a few miles from the village and pub, but that suited us as we had bikes. Lanes are relatively quiet even for bank holiday compared to the south coast!
A memorable touch, was that there was beacon lit on the headland as a part of the Jubilee beacon chain around the country and virtually the whole site turned out and were rallied into an impromptu gathering to witness the event and to sing 'God Save the Queen'.
Oh, lastly, the Dolphin out of marine waste looks great in the setting sun. Very thought provoking. We liked the environmental theme of the site especially. Will be back. Kate

Arrived when very busy so no hook up available. Very cheap site fees, and also take dogs which is good. The views are spectacular, the facilities are very, very basic. Toilets very wet and a bit smelly (but lots of people using them so to be expected I suppose) but lots of cobwebs and daddy long legs and the impression of not being cleaned a lot.
Save up your 20p's - showers cost at least 2 goes, and there is a milk crate to get into the shower which is interesting in a health and safety type way. No hot water in basins for shaving/washing (as well as a great house of mirrors type mirror to try to shave) but plate washing sinks cost 20p also - but you have to wait 10 minutes for it to heat up.
Pitched very close together, lots of children running and cycling around (but seemed to have good facilities for them.
Lots of re-cycling available, very friendly owners, free ice pack freezing and lots of info on noticeboards.
If they cleaned up the toilets and gave a spruce up this would be a great site.

Upside
Brilliant coastal location. Brilliant access to coastal walks and beaches for rock pooling and swimming. Great information leaflet.
Great pitching facilities with wide open spaces for all types of units. Fields mowed beautifully and surrounded by wild, and wonderful indigenous hedging. Wooden picnic tables scattered here and there.
Good sized pitches; limited hook up.
Family field ideal for energetic, enthusiastic and somewhat loud children! A safe environment where they can race around until dark!
Sea View Field, stunning.
Downside: The following problems could potentially spoil a holiday, certainly for campers with no other on board facilities, and especially for those campers with children.
Certainly during our August stay, the dated facilities, mentioned in another member review, are very stretched. We never saw the showers or toilets cleaned and they were not closed for that purpose at any time during our stay. The whole toilet block area was dark, dusty and smelly.
Worryingly, the veggie prep area and the fridge hire facility are in the same block, with no extra barrier between them and the toilet/showers.
The recycling waste/rubbish bin area was dreadful. Bins overflowed and rubbish was left on the floor by the bin sides on a daily basis. The drinking water tap is in the same very small area and the whole place became a smelly quagmire in bad weather. The compost bin was too small and again overflowed, black flies everywhere.
The chemical disposal point was very smelly and the tap for water to wash out chemical toilets did not work, hence people used the ordinary toilets to empty their chemical waste.
Simple strategies would effect an immediate improvement in these areas; larger bins away from the water and walking area, grey water recycling, solar panel etc etc. The whole idea of the site with its emphasis on sustainability and environmental excellence is a brilliant one, unfortunately the reality is not quite as effective.

We visited Penrallt Coastal Campsite this summer.
A lovely spacious campsite, as you can only camp on the perimeter, which was great.
We thought the position of the site was lovely. A short walk to the clifftops, especially in the evening to see the sunset was great. There's a small children's play area in the 'Family Field' which is adequate. But the children had loads of room to play, and did.
There's a wonderful fish and chip shop in Nefyn, we think the nicest we've ever tasted. And loads of places to visit. A big plus also we had decent weather.
The biggest downside was the shower, toilet, washing facilities. Very much in need of modernisation. Didn't mind that you had to pay for the showers (only 20p)and the showers are electric so they weren't at all powerful, but the rooms they were in are extremely tired. The washing up area we nicknamed 'the dungeon' because it was so dark.
Lovely area, shame about facilities!
