Stayed for 2 nights and delighted with what this site offers. From online booking process through to arrival on site. Site is small but offers everything it says it does. Offered a choice of pitches as 1st to arrive. Shown the on site facilities that are minimal but more than adequate. Pitched and watched the scenery change over Friday night to Saturday morning. Shopped Saturday in Middleton in teesdale (2 miles down road). Then a magical mystery tour taking in the sights and sounds of the surrounding area. BBQ and beers for the night time whilst enjoying the sunset. Animals will keep you entertained from the chickens that have the free roam of the site through to the lambs, sheep and cattle in the surrounding fields. Would gladly book again

If it is peace and quiet you are looking for, then this is the place to be. The Campsite only let a maximum number of people on the site at anyone time so is never overcrowded. Bathroom and Wash up facilities are very good and there is an abundance of fresh eggs and meat available on site. Richard and Stephanie are very welcoming and will assist in getting the caravan or trailer tent on site if needed. The views are amazing and is spectacularly dark at night so amazing views of the stars. I would heartily recommend this campsite as a peaceful and relaxing base for the area.

A beautiful location, a few miles drive from Middleton, as mentioned in previous reviews and the owner was very helpful in helping us to position our rented vehicle. Facilities were clean but there was just one shower (my husband had to wait half an hour for one elderly lady to finish!) and the water quality was compromised, being significantly tainted by a high concentration of dissolved iron which left our skin with a metallic odour and a bloodlike taste in our mouths. Given the idyllic setting we would have overlooked these issues and been very happy to return if it were not for the cost of our stay- at nearly £40 this was by far the most expensive night's camping we have ever experienced anywhere.

Just returned from this campsite today after having a lovely experience, this is a small campsite with beautiful views. The owners are lovely and take the time to show you the facilities and even took us into their personal property to show my children the lambs, their horses and chickens are always close by for you to admire also. The facilities are excellent, a small, immaculate toilet which is seconds away from the main site, adjoined to that is a washroom for pots and pans, again immaculate, then you have your family shower room, it has a main lock on the door, inside a toilet and freestanding shower and sink, spotless. This is the perfect site for a quiet vacation with family. If it's a loud, boozy camping experience I wouldn't recommend, but that's solely out of respect for the owners as their beautiful stone farmhouse is close to the campsite and they have a lot of animals to tend too, overall I would recommend this site if your after a quiet, relaxing stay with amazing views, 5 mins by car to Middleton Teesdale, we will be returning in the near future.

We had a wonderful holiday at this well maintained and very pretty location. The owners were very helpful and friendly but discreet.
The facilities were very clean. The surrounding area is perfect for walking and cycling. The walk to Middleton itself takes about 40 minutes.
We enjoyed the mutton and beef (Rufus) which was available from the farm. Perfect for touring from and a fantastic drive to Kirby Stephen and Alston. Highly recommended.

My Wife and I stayed here again in May for the second time and had a marvellous five days. The views are so beautiful that you can be entertained for hours just looking at the changing landscape. The site is very small so its quiet and peaceful, they only take a small number of people so the shower and two loos serve the campers well. The facilities are spotless and well maintained with nice flower arrangements, also there is plenty of hot water. The hens that strut freely produce beautiful eggs and it is also possible to buy various cuts of meat from the farm. The owners are most welcoming and helpful, they have been pleased to show us around their meadows and to teach us the names of the many wild flowers. They were also able to tell us about some local walks. The site is set in a lovely area with good walks unspoilt villages and plenty to do.

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of our grand tour of Northern England. Nice site, very quiet. A fair step out of town - you can walk to Middleton but it is an indistinct path over fields and steep in places - only for the fit!
We were the only campers and had the one hardstanding pitch - which was great as there had been a lot of rain and the field looked muddy. Facilities were fine, nice and clean. Only 1 shower and 2 toilets, one in the shower room so guess queues might be long if the site is full. As I said though, we were the only campers on site so no problem! No light on the toilet block or anywhere on the site so you will need a torch for nighttime loo trips. This was surprisingly the most expensive site we stayed on all holiday, more expensive even than a C&CC Club site in the Lake District.

We stayed here for 1 night as our very first trip to test our new tent out. It's a very small and peaceful site but perfect for us and the two kids, who were just excited to be on their first camping trip. The kids seemed entertained enough just by watching the animals around the place so it didn't matter that there wasn't a playground for them. There was only one other tent in when we were there so it was very peaceful and we didn't have to worry about the kids disturbing people. The toilet facilities were nice and clean and there was always hot water.
The owners were friendly and welcoming then left us to get on with our break, although we knew they were nearby if we needed anything.
The location was lovely with great views over the hills of Teesdale, although you would really have to have a car to get there I think. We went into Middleton to eat which is only a few minutes drive and there is plenty of choice there. There's lots to do in the area too so hopefully we will be able to visit again in the future.

I saw this campsite In The Rough Guide to Camping in Britain and I chose it based solely on the fact that I could have a dog with me and it was somewhere I had never been.
Was I in for a pleasant surprise! This site was full of charm and the proprietors were so accommodating! The site is quiet and small and you can't help but be charmed by the curious lambs and the chickens wandering around as you look out over the green rolling hills. Richard and Stephanie are helpful and lovely without being 'in your face' at all. Richard obliged us when we asked to bottle feed the lambs as well.
Also, I've never seen nicer bathrooms in a campsite ever.
We really enjoyed our trip and the area surrounding the campsite is all green grass and grey dry stone walls with rivers and waterfalls. What is not to like? Durham was a great town 40mins away to spend a rainy afternoon and I recommend a visit to the Flat White cafe and Durham Cathedral (free admission!).
We loved our visit and recommend this place to anyone.
