We stayed 4 nights at this lovely quiet little site and can highly recommend it for the superb facilities and the friendly, helpful owners. On arrival we were given a choice of pitches and selected one under the trees to make the most of the afternoon sunshine. The information on local facilities supplied were clear and very useful - I would strongly recommend using the park & ride if you are venturing into Truro as it is so cheap & easy - just £1. 80 per person for the return trip into the town & parking is effectively free. The route given into Truro is down very narrow single-track roads & includes a narrow bridge right on a bend so can be a bit hairy - we decided after one trip to use the longer main road route as we have a large 4x4!The toilet/shower block has washing up & laundry facilities, which we did not use, but the wet-room showers were roomy and immaculately clean with plenty of hot water - the best I've used so far!Do try the ice-cream on sale in Reception - it is delicious & far cheaper than that in the tourist attractions.

The third time we have spent an August bank holiday week at Killiwerris and we can only echo the comments posted by SummerGreen. Its a lovely, well presented adults only site with friendly owners and great facilities. Its also conveniently situated for beaches, shopping in Truro and tourist attractions (For anyone who is interested in Cornish mining history I would recommend the Great Flat Lode walk). There are also some decent restaurants nearby in St Agnes. We will be back again in the near future!

Once again another wonderful holiday spent on this lovely site, we have been coming back for years, well laid out site, all pitches fully serviced, just pitch up and enjoy a relaxing time, lots of wildlife, buzzards etc, also a great base to visit areas of Cornwall (Lizard, St Agnes down the road great for surfing, Truro, Eden Project, poldork mine, and lots of very nice coves to name a few.

The owners Stephen and Andrea couldn't be more helpful and any queries sorted right away, the site is kept to very high standards, wet rooms are great and large, also disable wash room, the reception is kept well stocked with bread, milk, eggs and lovely Cornish ice cream, there is information leaflets and a welcome pack for when you arrive and lots of reading books, which I made good use of.

Visit Smokey Joe's transport cafe in Blackwater, food amazing and plenty of it, also the caravan shop down the road really handy for any spare bits and bobs and very helpful.

Adult only site

Have booked again for next year, can't wait, look out Stephen here we come.

I love this site, the owners are very nice helpful people.

Pitches are very well spaced and serviced, a boon for the getting older, the toilet block is very clean and showers large easy to use. This is a child free site, so no footballs and screaming children. Well situated for touring Cornwall. Useful shop. 10/10

What a lovely site. The amenity block is spotless. The owners cannot do enough for you, they are friendly and helpful. We have just spent a restful week on this site. There are walks just off the site. The site is central to many places in Cornwall Turo, St Agnes, Newquay, St Ives etc. There are many shops close by with supermarkets a few miles up the road. You can get papers delivered to the site and milk, bread and Cornish ice cream are available in reception. Lovely

Visited site after recommendation, site in lovely area but spoilt by lack of attention to detail. Pitch drains blocked and not attended too until after we left, shower block very good but cleaning schedule not daily and needed to be looked at. Trees/shrubs in need of attention but grassed areas usually kept close cut, good dog walk locally, site noise not intrusive even though railway close by. Short drive/long walk to shops, will not be revisiting any time soon and comments by others staying at the same time seemed to mirror our thoughts

We had a lovely stay at this site, but would only go back if we could be sure of getting a pitch away from the lane. The lane as others have said is noisy from around 7-30am and again in the rush hour in the afternoon. The sawmill was for me the most annoying thing. The hard standing pitches are fully serviced, but the water tap for our pitch was on the next pitch and therefore we didn't have enough pipe.

The owners loaned us some extra and were also good enough to loan us some extra waste water pipe as ours wasn't long enough. The toilet/shower block was new last year and is really lovely. Very clean and always plenty of hot water. My only complaint about the block is that it wasn't always warm enough.

It's very easy to get to and well located to visit most of Cornwall. We would come again, but only if we could get a pitch away from the lane.

A friend had told me about this site and suggested that I visit when down in Cornwall next.

First impressions were very good with decent pitches and nice looking facilities.

Over the course of my stay I was surprised to find that the facilities were not cleaned on a daily basis, just when it was deemed necessary, toilet stains were left for a day or two and toilet rolls were not always re-stocked and left empty for a day. When the cleaning was done it was to a good standard but it was just not regular enough for me.

As others have said, there is a woodyard opposite that can be noisy at times but it tended to fade into the background as did the nearby train line but the annoying habit of the woodyard intruder alarm going off at all hours can really be annoying, daytime noises and sounds are ok but not an alarm at 02:00 on a regular basis.

I thought this was a touring site yet the caravan down near the entrance to his field looks like it is a permanent residence with paving slabs, decking & flower pots, not what I like to see unless it is a warden which these people are obviously not.

Sorry I will not be returning.

Yet again, another wonderful stay at Killiwerris. As ever Stephen and Andrea are excellent hosts, friendly and chatty.

What can I say about the new facility building, 5 star just like the one at Woodland Springs, a pleasure to use. Plenty of hot water at all times and spotlessly lean.

Plenty to see and do within easy driving distance as the site is like the centre hub of a wheel for all the best bits of Cornwall.

Like to eat out? Try Smokey's the transport cafe, brilliant well cooked food, so good the locals reserve tables for Sunday Lunches. The deserts are to die for.

Once again we have already booked our pitch for yet another return next year.

After being spoiled rotten on Caravan Club sites our first visit to a private site had to be very carefully considered. Seeing an advertisement for an adults only site that was also a member of a previously unheard of group (to us) called Tranquil Touring Parks we were drawn towards Killiwerris. After making our booking in late 2010 to ensure a pitch we set off with high hopes of a wonderful holiday.

The site itself is wonderful with neatly manicured lawns and good sized pitches. The facilities are super and the owners very friendly. The close proximity of the A30 makes day touring very easy. Having a supply of essentials was very useful and the ice cream is to die for. Unfortunately for us that was it for the good bits.

As others have mentioned the site is close to (directly opposite) a working sawmill. Between the sawmill and the site is a narrow road that is heavily used at peak times as a short cut from the North coast of Cornwall towards the South.

Traffic is heavy from 8. 00am onwards and later as people go home after a days work. Taking a dog off site at busy periods can be hazardous due to the narrow nature of the road.

The sawmill operates from 8. 00am until 5. 00pm and can be very noisy. If this is not enough there is a main train line running approximately 300 metres away from the site with trains sounding their horns day and night.

All of this fades into insignificance when it is time to sleep. The sawmill has an automatic intruder detection system that goes off for no apparent reason at any time of day or night.

Our first night should have been chance to relax away from our home on the final approach to Heathrow airport, it was totally ruined by the alarm that went off throughout the night. This set the pattern for the first week of our 'break' with the daylight hours between trips seeking real peace and tranquillity spent speaking with the sawmill owner and Cornwall Councils' Environmental Heath Department in a desperate search for some solution to a problem which seemed to affect us more than others (some of who also complained) as we were the closest unit to the noise at the time.

The second week was marginally better after various tree branches that were suspected of triggering the alarm were trimmed and the sound adjusted slightly. The alarm still went off but less frequently, trouble was that we were waiting for it to sound, so sleep was limited. We left at the end of our holiday feeling totally jaded but thankful that we had seen some of Cornwall.

As previously detailed the site is wonderful and the adults only status potentially offers the tranquillity alluded to in its inclusion into the Tranquil Parks scheme.

Unfortunately the reality is that, whilst the site must tick some boxes to allow its entry into this group, there is no way on Earth its location can allow it to be described as tranquil.
