Recently spent a great 7 days here. The location is excellent because it's so central. The owners are friendly but at the same time leave you alone to enjoy your stay. The children's' facilities are good, the grandson especially liked the pool. The site is very dog friendly, they even allowed our huge rottie in the bar.
The only things they need to sort out is thecash only policy. This would be fine if the site had an atm of some type. They are loosing money here because a couple of times we would have gone to thebar for an evening tipple but we didn't have enough cash.
Also, we stayed on owl field and the showers were awful. They were freezing cold, toilet seats not fitted properly and in the dishwashing area the sink overflow just poured out onto the floor. We didn't use them at all unless it was dark but like others walked to badger field?
|
Management response: The bar is a separate company and is only seasonal, to provide card facilities would mean bringing a dedicated BT telephone line and PDQ machine into the building for such a short period, sorry we cannot provide this service or a ATM cash machine.
With regard to maintenance issues if you had reported them they would have been sorted out. Since your departure they have all been dealt with and showers running on full power and hot. Hope you pay us a visit again and if you would like to discuss any items ask to speak with myself.

We have been staying at Lanyon for many years now and always enjoy our stay.
The owners are so friendly, the staff are incredibly helpful and our bookings each year are effortless.
Our three children have grown up at a Lanyon over the last few years, swimming, playing, and exploring Cornwall with us, with beaches and attractions all within easy reach of the camp site. In fact, we got to the point that we stopped touring and now store our caravan with them, as it means we can visit more often. As a result, this year we stayed at Easter, spring half term and now this summer.
Our final night this year included eating at the a Lanyon Lookout, somewhere we have never tried before simply because we are always travelling around. The welcome was as friendly as ever and the food was excellent.
We can't wait to return every time we leave!

From the moment we arrived and pitched our trailer tent, we felt at home on the site.
My best friend from school in Manchester lives in Four Lanes so the site was extremely convenient. What we didn't plan on was the fact that we fell in love with the site.
The owners helped us feel welcomed to this quiet relaxing site. Barry keeping us well fed and watered, whereas Rose just loved to chat.
We look forward to spending 2 weeks next year - only 10 days this time - lets hope the weather is as good.

Spent a very pleasant few days camping at Lanyon Park. The facilities are very good, with inclusive use of the showers etc. The hosts are friendly, helpful and willing to look at your individual needs. Ideal location to explore Cornwall, being equal distance from the north and south coastline. During our relatively short stay, we managed to visit a number of towns and sights around this part of an interesting diverse county. Highly recommended. The Seymour's

Just returned from lanyon after a ten night stay at the end of august. We found the campsite easily from the directions given on the website,
The campsite is ideally located for visiting any part of cornwall with st ives, truro, perranporth, falmouth, lands end and the excellent flambards theme park all within a 20 minute drive.
Use the discount leaflet from reception to gain entry to flambards to save quite a bit of money. The pitches are huge and well kept,
The only downside were the mens and womens showers in owl field weren't always hot and didn't have much pressure so we used the showers in badger field which were fine.
The staff were excellent as was the small but warm indoor swimming pool and the food in the restaurant was great and not too expensive. We would definitely recommend this site and return again soon.

After a very long journey down to the site we had a superb greeting from the site owner who gave us a quick run down on the facilities and took us to our pitch.
The pitches were very large, with each one being individually marked out and EHU being easily accessible in the corners of each pitch. The facilities in our area were clean and functional. There was an ongoing issue with one of the showers in the blokes block as it was a mere dribble. The solution was to use the facilities at reception that were better. The pot washing, freezer, fridges and laundry facilities were good, clean and under cover.
As another reviewer has pointed out this campsite is very high up. We experienced quite a lot of wind and rain as well as morning mist. That said on a couple of days when the sun came out. It was roasting hot and the site is nice and quiet so sunbathing was very much enjoyed.
The indoor pool is smaller than imagined, but was still good, clean and a welcome break for the kids. The staff were very friendly and helpful and very much 'in the background' rather than policing the site.
As a family we thoroughly enjoyed Cornwall with all the attractions such as The Eden Project (expensive. But very much worth the expense) Lands End (a fair drive from the site, but again well worth it!) Healeys Cyder farm is also a good day out (the cyder is good too! - would recommend the guided tour)

We have just returned from Lanyon Holiday Park, overall the facilities are good although the showers in the female toilets are poor with very little water pressure. The people are lovely and very helpful and the bar is great.
The problem with this site is due to the fact it is located at one of the highest points in Cornwall (as I was told) the weather is awful.
Always very windy, damp and foggy in the mornings with the temperature dropping the closer you get to the site as you return from a day out, we witnessed caravans having their awnings blown off and ruined, tents etc - its a real shame as the site itself is very clean with plenty of space.
But you are in a very exposed area and open to the elements, we are just glad our tent managed to withstand the torrent of wind and rain. Plus point found a lovely takeaway that deliver to the site, collect a menu from reception

Just got back from Lanyons after a 5 night stay!
Pitches are huge with EHU directly on each pitch. We were on OWL field which is located on top of a hill which does make it very breezy but did drain quickly following heavy rain.
Toilet / shower / dish washing facilities in a block on each field. They were very clean despite a lot of rain, and we're well stocked with toilet paper and liquid soap.
There was a bar/restaurant on site which was open every evening and also had entertainment twice a week which was great. Food was fab with great choice for adults and kids.
The owners and staff were fantastic.
Other facilities we used were the pool, and playground which were good.
Laundry facilities were good but a little pricey
Freddy Zapp rocked!

Just come back from a welcoming stay at Lanyon Park after a two week holiday.
The pitches were very well spaced out and the staff were always on hand to help us.
The toilets were kept clean.
The food was good value for money.
I would recommend this site to other holiday makers.
The dog walk was fantastic. Our dog loved it.
The play area was great.
The location was ideal for walkers, cyclists, dog walkers, hikers. The Great flat Lode was very well signposted near the site.

We stayed here at the end of August and found the reception staff to be very accommodating and helpful. Our request for a reasonably sheltered pitch was noted and we had a choice to pick from as the site was not full. This site is open to the elements and is at a high elevation; yes, the views are great but when the Great British weather delivers its worse the first stop is across these hills. The pitches are generously sized and the boundary hedges have established a bit since the photos on the website were published, but are well kept and the site is very tidy.
Location-wise, the site is well placed for exploring the west of Cornwall, everything seemed to be a short drive away.
Facilities can be found in temporary buildings that have no other ventilation than open windows which meant cold draughty showers accompanied by every flying insect imaginable seeking shelter - gauze screens could prevent this. The showers are basic, push button types with ill-fitting curtains, and one with a cracked tray in the ladies, leading to inevitable flooding. Hot water is sporadic. Handwash basins are small (cloakroom size) with a shelf positioned just a foot above them making teethbrushing interesting as you try to avoid headbutting the shelf as you aim for the sink. A mop and bucket is supplied but regretfully not all campers follow the code of cleaning up after themselves. The facilities were kept clean(ish) but they were not spotless, previous sites we have stayed at have clearly worked harder at this.
Washing facilities and tumble dryer were handy especially as, this summer, drying conditions were challenging!
The pool is very small - our 11 year old didn't even bother! The play area on the other hand was enjoyed by many children.
The bar is welcoming and the family quiz night fun and well attended. It would seem most residents accommodated the static holiday homes as the touring fields were not busy.
We did not eat at the site, the menu was simple; offering many typical fried options, everything with chips. We heartily recommend The Golden Lion at nearby Stithians Lake for a wonderful variety of fresh home cooked food, with healthier options and homemade desserts, where well behaved dogs are welcome in the bar.
Walkers note that many footpaths nearby have not been maintained, we turned back on several occasions!
All in all a pleasant site but the facilities let it down, we would not return in it's current state.
