This was great little site,
Was given gate code thought didn't need it as gate was own Al weekend.
Although only part lets it down is putting tents in with the vans.
There is not enough room especially of larger tents. Need to designate vans/tents separate.
Great cafe, good for quick snack/meal.
Clean and tidy showers although had own facilities so didn't need to use them,
Otherwise great site for visiting my stepsons x

We have just spent a great weekend here at, Thrybergh Country Park. The site is well kept, well proportioned pitches with clean shower and toilet facilities.
I don't want to make the site sound better than it is, and certainly not any worse.
Negatives. Only one water tap located on the bottom half of the pitches. Kids play area too far away from caravan site to allow kids to play unattended. Pitches do have a slight slope.
Pros. Quiet site. Loads of room on pitches. Easy access, great hour - hour an half walk around lake. Cafe on site. Open all year. Very well priced £17. 50 per night for us.
Would we return again. Yes definitely site location is great as well from either A1 or the M1.

We have just returned from a lovely weekend at Thrybergh Country Park. I booked this site at the last minute mainly because it is just a few miles from home and ideal for a quick getaway on a Friday evening. You can book with just a small deposit but there was a requirement to pay over the phone in full prior to arrival to obtain the codes for the gates and shower block. We arrived before 5pm on the Friday but there was nobody around to show us to our pitch and it seemed to be a pick your own situation.
The toilets and showers were lovely and clean but a short walk away down a path lined on one side by trees and not one I would like to walk down alone at night. The site was lovely and peaceful and well kept. The country park itself was stunning although the children's play area was a little disappointing as half of it was taped off awaiting repair. There is a really nice walk around the lake and duck food can be purchased at the cafe for 50p. The cafe looked nice but I can't comment on the quality of the food etc as we didn't buy anything there other than the duck food.
Overall this is a lovely site and could easily become one of our favourites for quick getaways.

Booked this site mainly because it's close to home and easy to get there in a short time. Was raining when we set off and were unsure whether to bother going but so glad we did. The site is lovely, set in the middle of a wooded area and well kept. The toilet and shower block were a short walk away and some of the best facilities we've used. They were obviously quite new and clean and warm. The showers are roomy with both a door and an inner curtain. Two hand dryers and two hair dryers in the ladies. Also a separate pot washing area which we didn't use.
Only stayed for two nights so didn't have much time to explore the area. Managed a visit to the nearby asda on Saturday and a walk around the lake on Sunday. What a beautiful setting! Had a late breakfast in the on site cafe before we left. Really good food at reasonable prices. Didn't managed to resist the cakes although we did try. Will definitely return to this site, hopefully for a longer stay.

Excellent wee site, great location and facilities. Would use for transit going south only 5 miles from motorway, or to explore Yorkshire. Nice cafe on site and eateries within 5 mins drive in Conisburgh. Toilets are a bit distant at night, would not let my kids/teens go without an escort as the path runs alongside a wood, perhaps just me being over cautious but better safe than sorry. There are nice walks round the lake and good picnic spots.

Excellent, tidy campsite in a lovely lakeside setting. Ideally situated for country walks, well priced (£14 for the night, 2 adults, 1 dog and electric hook up) and staffed by friendly, hard working rangers. Clean toilets and free showers plus free hairdryer in toilets. Good priced on site cafe - try the full breakfast for £3. 90! (But if you choose to eat oustide as we did beware the inquisitive swans!) Not ideal for campers looking for lively action but perfect and peaceful for us - will definitely be returning again!

We booked for 1 night to try out our new tent.
We weren't happy with the pitch allocated to us (it was way too small for our tent) but the warden was happy to give us a different pitch, despite the receptionist telling us that we were got what we were given!
The facilities are great. The toilets, showers and pot washing area are just 100 yards from the pitches. They were all very clean and well looked after. But unfortunately, the ladies lights and water wouldn't come on. They are on a sensor so they are supposed to come on when you go in. We reported this twice in the first 3 hours of being there, but they were left unusable all night. We had to use the mens facilities all evening (with 2 young girls which I wasn't too impressed about) and in the morning there was finally a sign saying please use the disabled facilities.
There is just one disabled toilet and shower and this proved a problem when all the ladies wanted to get showered and have a pee first thing.
There is no lighting between the pitches and the toilets, so make sure you take a torch for midnight toilet trips!
There was plenty of space between the pitches and there is a small field next to the campsite where the kids could go and blow off some steam and keep the balls and games off the campsite itself. The is also a small playground just past the cafe.
The whole area is lovely and overall we were very pleased with it.
If it wasn't for the ladies facilities being out of order it would have been 10/10.

This place is quite local to us and we have visited on numerous occasions. We have never had a bad night yet. You can ring and book a pitch, although we did have a bit of a mix up as the usual warden was away and our booked pitch was taken.
We were soon sorted out by the ranger who was happy to help. It can get quite busy around the lake as the park is council run and is open to the public.
The site is set with surrounding trees and you would think you were in the middle of nowhere. The toilets and showers have always been clean on my visits but they are at the main reception area. It would benefit from on site showers/toilet block.

We have just spent 1 night at this site as it is local to us. Went in our tent and met up with friends in their tourer. It shows on the website that they do not allow tents, they do, but you have to pay a £100 deposit!
However, as we were camping with friends in a tourer, we were told we didn't have to pay the deposit. On arrival, there was a motorhome on our pitch. We went to reception to report it, but had to wait nearly an hour for the ranger to come and sort it out.
We had booked two pitches together (3 and 4), but ended up having to have pitches 1 and 2, which were better actually, as there was a large tree on pitch 4, and we would have had to pitch our tent at an angle.
The campsite is nice and relaxed. There are 24 pitches with ehu. The washing up and chemical disposal point areas are on the site. The toilets (2 ladies) and 1 disabled, (not sure about how many in gents!) are not actually on the site.
You have to walk out of the site and around the corner to use these. These toilets are also used by the public, but are locked at a certain time and campers are given a keycode.
As said on other reviews, the toilets are not the best, but are adequate. I didn't go into the showers. The route from the campsite to the toilets is a bit spooky with the trees and no lighting.
Had a lovely walk around the lake with hubby at 7am in the morning, only a couple of fishermen and joggers about. I think the site would benefit from a couple of portaloos or something on the site itself to make it perfect.
We were only a couple of miles away from home, but it seemed like 100 miles away! There is an Asda supermarket nearby for any shopping you need. We rang a local pizza delivery, and had our supper delivered to the site.
There is a field for ball games, and a new playground for the kids. The cafe has also been updated, and seems really nice. I would definitely go to this park again.

We stayed here for 1 week, the staff were very friendly most of the time, we spoke to the manager of the site regarding the state of the toilet facilities and showers, which are very much in need of refurbishment or at least a good commercial clean up.
The first pitch we set up on smelled terrible so we had to move, that was pitch 2. The caravan with the plastic cling film front, spoken about in previous reviews, is still there as are other long term campers. We had the pleasure of a mini digger being parked at night in front of the van opposite us.
In all we were not pleased with the facilities, only cold water to wash pots and security is poor. No lights on route to toilets after dark and we was given the same codes to enter the toilets and showers as we used last year, when we stopped for 2 nights.
We didn't use the facilities then but did this time. The toilets are used by the public, free of charge and were in a mess when we arrived on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
I would not go back unless I was assured the facilities had been updated.
The area is lovely, shops close by and nice walk, though once you have done it there isn't much else to do, the cafe is nice for lunches and coffee.
