Rang up on the day of arriving to advise we would be there after 6 (reception closes at 4). Woman on the phone gave me the pin codes for the toilets and showers and just told me to set up, and then pop into reception in the morning. Very helpful I thought.

Site is adequate size but pitches can become sludgy and more like a mud pit.

Not much to do on site and once you've walked round the like a few times its mainly just hanging about and relaxing by the caravan. Went to find the 'playground' but its very small, no swings or slides and not fit for children under about 6 or 7.

On third day there was no running water. I asked another camper and he said it had been leaking so they'd switched it off, only water source was in the toilet / shower block with is a decent walk away, and not a 'safe' walk at night.

Site is poorly lit and I wouldn't let anyone out on their own after dark (this was February so dark was about 4.30pm)

Day before we were due to leave we awoke to find a foot of snow on the ground (brilliant). I went and explained to the receptionist that we may not be able to tow the caravan in the snow, across the field so I'd rather take my children home and come back in a day or two to collect the van once the roads were safe, and I wouldn't get the car stuck in the snow. She advised I had 2 options, either to take the caravan away today, or to leave it and pay for an extra few nights - not very helpful at all.

After much pushing and shoving we got the caravan off the site and departed, very slowly.

From previous review, caravan complete with cling film is still there, but did appear to be occupied and toilets and showers are open to the public during the day. Definitely need some work though.

Overall, a nice quiet site, not much to do, but ideal if you want to be on your own away from it all.

Stayed on this site in September and earlier this year, to find no facilities on the campsite, there is a shower block and toilets which are used by the general public which are in need of updating. There is a pot wash on site but only cold water, no hot water at all.
The times I have been there this caravan has been there, it had its wheels off the first time I was there, this time the caravan was still there had its wheels back on, but the front was covered in plastic it doesn't belong to the warden, its a real shame that a eyesore like that can have long term stay on the campsite, when people come from far and wide to walk round the park and see its wildlife.

Just had a lovely weekend here. Quiet, peaceful and well behaved 'people', young & old.Er.

Cafe really good food and reasonable prices.

Site is council run and undermanned, but the staff know that and try their best. The toilets are scruffy, they are past their sell by date but again the staff try to keep them as best they can.

The site is very pleasant and quite well kept, grass cut etc. Not a site for campers as the washing up sinks are exposed with only cold water.

Chemical disposal excellent, plenty of water taps.

We had a very enjoyable weekend and will go again.

There are various activities over the weekends, we had star gazing with the local club, clear skies and good company, lovely.

Will definitely go again. £10.00 per night.

This site is quite well known to me as it is close to where I live. Booked to stay here 5 nights because was caravanning with some friends and wanted to try it. This is site is a lovely little site and is very well laid out. On arrival you pull through the gates and onto the site which is in a circle with pitches and the inside and on the edges.
Checking in in the reception / gift shop was easy and the staff where more than helpful I was allocated a pitch but after reversing on which took a while because I am not an expert at it especially with my twin axle van there was a big tree and the branches banged on the roof of the van and this would have annoyed me so I moved and this was not problem for the reception staff they just changed me.
The toilets are quite a walk from the site but cause there are also used by the public are not clean at all although the changing rooms which are just for use for the vans are surprisingly clean even though I used all the facilities in my van.
The chemical disposal is perfect and you could not complain one bit it is the best I have come across by far and there are plenty of water points around the site.
The lake is nice and overall a very friendly and welcoming site. As well is a bargain in school holidays only £10 a night. Highly recommended would re visit.

We stayed at the site in late April, we arrived after reception had closed and so just set up on a pitch and went to reception in the morning. All the pitches were spacious and it was a nice quiet site. The location is lovely with great walks, a small gift shop and a reasonably priced cafe on site. The chemical disposal unit was one of the nicest I've seen! The toilet and shower block was a bit of a walk from the site and is also used by the public so is not the cleanest I have come across. We thought this site was great value and would definitely return.

We stayed on this site for 3 nights as we had travelled from Spain and it was very convenient for visit family in the area. We did not use the shower or toilet block as we had our own facilities. The lake and the wild life were very good, but don’t think we would stay there again if it were not for visiting family.

We visited the site for 3 nights as we needed to try out our new tent, and it was local.
Upon arrival, it took an hour for us to be told where we could pitch, as someone was in our pitch. The staff seemed very unhelpful, with the exception of one lady who eventually came on to the site with us and found us a pitch. After the bad start, things did improve.
We had the children with us and they had a great time playing with other children on the site.
We had our own toilet, and returned home during the day to shower the kids, so did not use the facilities. I did however look at them, and was glad we were not using them on a regular basis. They were not dirty, but we have seen a lot better. The toilets and showers were quite a walk from the site, however the chemical toilet disposal was on the site itself. The washing up sinks were filthy so we managed with a bowl and cold water. It was very quiet for the 3 nights we were there, but some other campers said it had been a bad night the night before we arrived. Apparently the warden was off site that night, and a large tent there had had visitors and 20ish people had been drinking, swearing and shouting til past midnight. The tent was still there the first night we were there, but we heard nothing. Would visit again for a weekend as the lake is lovely, and we found the site to be peaceful and quiet.

Only stopped for one night mainly to test out my new awning, but will be back again. Staff and visitors were very friendly, kids had a great time playing with the other children on site. There was a nice little park for the children but if I was to be over critical this was aimed at older children. Fantastic walks and views. And if you love wildlife this is the place for you. The ducks where actually eating bread out of my hand, the kids loved that. We had a look at the toilet block it was very warm and clean. Cafe on site all though we did not use it I thought it was rather expensive.

Excellent site very clean and quiet excellent surrounding including a big lake with a walk around the lake. Caters well for the wheelchair bound and has electric scooters for hire. Am due to stay at this campsite again this July and have been back many times now. Will recommend highly to anyone camping in the area. Its also well connected to the main road and regular buses into Rotherham Doncaster and Sheffield. A definate must stay at

We visited Thrybergh at easter weekend. Unfortunately it was a wet weekend. The site is situated off the A630 between Doncaster and Rotherham. It is in a lovely secluded area ideal for dog owners and young children. Beautiful walks around lake with many water fowl. There is an adventure playground, cafe and shop although not much in the way of provisions were sold mainly gifts. The showers and toilets were a bit sparse and a fair walk from the caravan site. We tended to use our own facilities.
It was a good 1/2 hr walk into Thrybergh village where there is a pub, W M C, fish and chip shop and shops. In the other direction a 2 mins drive is a lovely pub resturant. We would visit again and pray for better weather.
