What a lovely site, the field is not exactly level but you can find the best spot for your unit. We walked into the village, lovely carvery pub, food outlets and a Tescos.
We caught the bus to Ryde for the day.
The showers were amazing, pressure in the water was brilliant, lovely and clean.
We stayed two nights here and would definitely recommend it. The owner was also very friendly.
Loved it!

Return Visit to this site, it's spacious and sheltered and tucked away off the main road. Located on the edge of the village it's within walking distance of a lovely Pub for food and drinks and there are also shops and take-aways in the village but a bit further away. Ryde town centre is only a short bus journey away if you don't want the worry of car parking and there are plenty of busses to get you round the island from there. The welcome is warm and relaxed. Looking forward to this year's visit.

What a gem to have discovered !. This site is truly lovely as is the owner Lesley. I have visited all camping sites on my favourite island and although some have 'first class' loos etc they also boast overcrowding, noise, traffic etc etc. The location is superb with lovely views across to Wooton Common, I didn't spend all day staring at this view but so nice to wake up to. If you want to stay at a perfect site then this is it. AND it is the nearest site to the Portsmouth Gunwharf to Fishbone ferry. Thank you Lesley, I will be back next year ! xxx Roger P.

Stayed for one night after festival and enjoyed the peace and surrounding tranquillity! Very informal site, take your pick of which pitch you want. No one in office on arrival but big sign staying to pitch up and pay later. Manager came to caravan to collect money, pleasant and friendly. No shop on site. Toilets ok but only two showers in women's which could mean a lot of queuing when site is busy! Lots of bins scattered around site. Ten min walk to decent pub and nearby walking trails. If you want a basic, laid back site, planning to use own facilities in motorhome/caravan then the site has little to grumble about. Some large caravans on site not sure if they are residents or seasonal pitches.

We stayed here over the last Bank Holiday weekend. When we arrived the lady on the desk was waiting for us, I could see her smiling at us as we drove in which was really nice, people are losing this art. My husband was extremely rude to her for charging us the correct rate (he'd given her the wrong age for my eldest) so if her smile is waning it's due to being verbally abused by customers, for this I apologise.
The site is large with basic facilities. The showers are excellent although there's only two of them. In busier times I imagine this might be a problem. I liked the fact that the washing up area was inside and everything looked clean and fairly new.
We were on electric hook up which also had a water supply meaning you didn't have to walk far to fill the kettle. You choose your own site and it's large enough to be away from others if you wish. For some stupid reason we pitched up right next to the play area which we later regretted !
The one complaint I have is the amount of road noise at night. The campsite is just off the main road and the noise is quite loud especially sirens. Even the small road leading to the campsite is noisy, we had one night where all we could hear were the boy racers screaming up and down. The other campers were quiet though.
There is a Tesco express if you turn left onto the main road after exiting the campsite where you'll also find takeaways. We only found this out after turning right and traveling all the way into Ryde to the 24 hr tesco.
If you are a light sleeper I'd go somewhere a bit further off the road but otherwise it's a great site and very close to the ferries, but I think that for the price there may be better, I would have liked a small shop on site so that I don't have to go out every morning for milk.

Have just come back from 4 nights at this campsite. Agree with other reviewers that it's a slightly unusual site and seems to have some 'residents' who come and go in white transit vans daily.
Reasonable location close to Ryde and Newport. Would be good if walking the coastal path.
The toilet/shower and washing up facilities were kept reasonably clean however I can imagine they can get pretty busy when the site is busier.
The owners were not round when we arrived. There was a sign in the window saying to pitch up and pay later. As we'd booked I was happy to do this but if we hadn't booked I'd have felt unsure about doing this. It seems to be what they expect you to do as the reception opening times are very limited, and they come round later to collect money and issue a label for your tent.

A very nice site near a forest.
Town of wooton nearby with a very good pub and a bit further there is a tesco extra, a bit expensive but that is it.
A bunch of bikers arrived today and even though they are old they behave like teenagers, The noise is appalling and the foul language is not good for nearby children.
BEWARE!

This is a slightly unusual site, but that's not in any way a criticism! It's unusual because there seems to be a very odd mix of campers/caravanners who come here; there were several people like us (ie small families, couples, larger groups) but also loads of single travellers (nothing wrong with that) and people who appear to live in the various static caravans dotted about, and who come and go daily – mostly in white Transit vans and pick-ups! Perhaps this is just an I. O. W. Phenomenon?!
It's a big site. We were there over the Late May Bank Holiday, but there was loads of space which is what we like (have never liked those sites where they mark out little slots with about 1m between each).
When we arrived there was no-one on Reception, but having seen others mention this on here, we just wandered about and chose a nice pitch for ourselves. The warden came by in the evening, was fine about everything, and we went over to the office to pay.
The facilities are kept clean, but are slightly small for such a big site. (Free) showers are hot and powerful. There was hardly ever a queue, though, so the block's size was not a problem.
The site is literally 5 mins from the Fishbourne ferry – perhaps that's why it's so quiet, as people maybe rush past on their way somewhere else? We found it very convenient though.
There's a Tesco Express about 5mins drive away, along with various pubs and an excellent Fish & Chip shop (Terry's) which we highly recommend! On one occasion we walked to the bus stop in the village and bought 24-hour Rover tickets which was great as we could go anywhere and everywhere on the island for a day. We also walked (25mins) to the Wootton end of the I. O. W. Steam Railway and spent a happy couple of hours pootling up and down this very well maintained heritage line.
Overall, we enjoyed ourselves a lot here. Really no complaints at all!

If you need a site with tarmac roads, swimming pool, clubhouse, kids playgrounds etc. Then this site is not for you. What you will find here is one of the most relaxed and quiet sites we have ever visited. The toilet block is spotlessly clean with the addition of some serious power showers! There is an enormous amount of space with an abundance of electrical hook ups. We crossed from Portsmouth to Fishbourne and the site is so convenient being a mere 5 minutes drive.
The ground was wet due to the massive amount of rain this year but pitching the caravan, awning and tent was easy. Other sites had been forced to close due to their ground conditions but Kite Hill remained open. Our only quibble was that it would have been nicer had the grass been cut short as it needed wellies to walk to the facilities.
The staff here are very helpful and pleasant. We will be returning to Kite Hill when we visit the island next yer.

As part of a group of both tents, and caravans, we were assigned to pitch in the center of the site.
The sloping surface did present problems. Particularly with getting the tents squarely set up. Causing slack areas that collected rain. And therefore some heavy leaks.
We would have appreciated being advised to bring short, very strong, galvanized tent pegs. Due to there being only a few inches of turf, before striking solid chalk rock.
There are adequate EHU
The 2 shower/2 toilet facilities, whilst clean, were certainly not adequate during our stay.
Childrens amenities consisted of fairly basic swings (2)
Rubbish bins were initially close by. But as the site became less occupied. Were moved to the site entrance. An unnecessary inconvenience
The local pub serves up great value food. And is child friendly.
Also close by are super markets and a launderette.
There are good bus services to get you into Ryde.
As a group. We all agreed. We would not return.
