 You shouldn't hold the simplicity of this site against it; It doesn't claim to be anything that is isn't. For the luxury lovers amongst us it isn't but it is a great site.
Laid back with a good feeling of freedom. Great views over the creek and lengthy walks direct from the site into the woods along the tidal waters. Water birds and Red Squirrels aplenty.
Just about within walking distance of the Portsmouth-Fishbourne car/passenger ferry. Access to buses at the bottom of the hill or better still take a bicycle. The Sloop Inn pub with creek views is within stubbling distance (remembering you need to get back up the hill at closing time). Chinese, fish and chips, large grocery store, and butchers just down the road.
If you're pitching a tent choose an area to the North West side along the bushes - these will shield you from most of the wind.

Basic site, we pre booked because of August, not al lot of point, on arrival we where told to find anywhere on a large open hilly field that we could reach a elec point. We did so and had a reasonable pitch until a unit came in with a very short elec lead and when we awoke the van was about six feet away. Apart from that a clean site with nice toilets and showers.
A short walk away a bus stop from where you could get to newport /ryde at about £2-50 return. Along from the bus stop was a pub Brewyers Fayre I think very pleasant. Along the creek, three pubs, in the village Chinese takeaway, Tescos Express, local butchers. Lovely steam train, short ride out of town a few nice pubs. All in all site nice enough surrounding area and access to the island good

Basic campsite. Facilities cleaned daily and plenty of hot water for showers and washing up. However, make sure you take loo roll for ladies, as it's usually run out by the evening!
Although advertised as family camp site, groups of young people are also allowed in so can occasionally be noisy at night. Also fairly windy as it is on a hill.
Overall, reasonable site for reasonable price.

This site is very peaceful, there aren't any amenties except for the toilets, showers and washing up facilities. Basically a large open field. If you want a basic site this is for you and is reflected in their prices. Levelish pitches, and reasonable access to the site. Nice walks along the river. All in all a satisfactory site for what it is.
