A gently sloping site with a lot of room however due to the unseasonably high rainfall there were a great deal of potholes which made trying to pitch on a level surface very difficult.
The shower/toilet facilities were spotlessly clean if a little basic and a little small for the number of campers.
We were allowed to pitch where we liked but as we had booked EHU this was a little difficult. Perhaps a better system of booking should be considered.
The area is picturesque and although the road next to the campsite is relatively quiet sometimes it can get a bit hectic and noisy.
Overall not a site we would be returning to. Sorry!

Site easy to find with road signs just after Wootton bridge.
Site office was closed on arrival and is only open at certain times during the day. A sign in the office window says to pitch anywhere you like, OK for us in a tent but not much help if you need EHU, but I suppose you could just take a spare point.
Site is on a slope with plenty of space for larger tents, a small set of children's swings is set at one side of the site. The toilet and shower block was basic but ok, could be busy in the mornings.
Local shops and amenities are a 5 minute car ride away. Several fast food shops, a small supermarket and a couple of pubs available. One near the bridge serves very good food and is child friendly.
As with most places on the Island nothing is too far away, Osbourne House 10 minutes, Butterfly farm 10 minutes, Ryde 20 minutes.
A basic site that is reasonably priced, generally very quite in the evenings.

This is a fairly basic site in a nice location, with views across surrounding countryside. There are shops eg a Tesco Express in Wootton Bridge and there are pleasant footpaths and trails nearby. Don't venture into the long grass on site, however - there is a sign warning of adders.
The toilet and shower facilities are rather cramped and at times it was necessary to queue. The cleanliness of the showers left a bit to be desired.
Our stay was disturbed by a party of males who pitched nearby and were noisy in the small hours. We complained in the morning to the site warden. Despite a notice stating that persons causing a disturbance would be asked to leave, they weren't. All in all I would not return to this site.

I am disabled so camping is often difficult. I discovered this site last year and couldn't wait to return for more. The site is clean, well maintained, especially the 'facilities' which are thoroughly cleaned on a daily basis. From my point of view, the separate disabled toilet and shower, level access by easy ramp, was an added bonus.
I was issued a key (£5 refundable deposit)The site is slightly sloped but basically level.Grass is kept short and neat. Plenty of water points and electric hook up points. Advise pre booking if you want a hook up. Beryl the site warden is friendly and helpful, as are the owners.
There is no shop, bar, etc on the site, but there is a children's play area and plenty of room for other activities. The site is quiet, even during the Aug. Bank holiday Scooter Rally, which takes over about half the site but I found them considerate and sociable.
Away from the site, close by,(5 minutes walk) the town of Wootton Bridge offers a Greengrocer/butcher, Small Tescos, Fish and chip shop, Indian and Chinese take aways and two pubs, both with gardens, doing food. The Sloop is highly recommendable. Situated on the Creek, with beautiful gardens, it boasts a Carvery with a good choice of roasts, vegetables and trimmings for £3:50, Real Ale etc.
Buses from Wootton to Ryde and Newport. I.O.W. Steam Railway runs from Wootton to Ryde where you can connect with the Electric railway with their 1930's London Tube trains down to Sandown and Shanklin.
All in all Kite Hill is a great site and a great base for exploring the Island or just chilling outside your tent.

Lovely site, very friendly and relaxed. Plenty of space. Two adults and a medium sized tent only £11 per night. Hook-ups available but we did not need them. Facilities basic but toilets and showers very clean. Only two showers each for ladies and gents but fine it you time it right. No hairdryer so remember to take your own, electric socket in ladies shower block (no charge). Local carvery near river £3.25 for a roast Monday to Saturday. Very close to Fishbourne car ferry, walking distance if you are backpacking. Easy access to most of the island from bus stops near the site and the river. Planning to stay here for the festival next year and make the most of the clean toilets and showers.

Stayed on the site during the IOW Rock festival. Plenty of people arrived at the site for the festival and were all well behaved, not just the older ones but the younger ones too.
Beryl the site warden was on hand all day,if you had a problem she would sort it out straight away or within the hour. The washroom facilities were spotless.
A family run site by the Abrahams, with plenty of water points & electric hookups, children's play area & dog walking area. In the village a small Tesco, butcher / grocer, two pubs serving meals, also Asian, Chinese and traditional fish & chips takeaway, 5mins. Walk from the site.
Plenty of walks from the site, local bus route 2mins walk away.

I stayed at this site over Easter.
I found it to be a basic site with excellent toilets and showers which are cleaned daily, with piping hot water.
Electric hook-ups, plenty of freshwater taps around the site.
Childrens play area and a dog walking area.
You are spoilt for choice with 3 take-aways, supermarkets and a pub by the river within a few minutes walk from the site.
Fantastic Value

Visited this site for a weekend in July with a stag party. 10 of us went with 6 tents and it was fantastic. No problem with all male partys when it came to booking.
The site is good and big, when we arrived the warden told us to pick any spot we wanted, we opted for the top right (very windy but lovely views). Site is literally 3 minutes drive from the ferry.
Plenty of room for some five a side!
Toilet block was cleaned daily as was the showers, lots of hot water and good powerful shower. Plenty of freshwater points scattered around.
Bus can be caught just along to the right on the main road, 5 minute walk £3 for a single into Ryde however. So if theres lots of you I'd suggest booking a cab.
All in all fantastic value basic site for the money, would definitely recommend.

We stayed here during the Isle of Wight Festival weekend, so I was expecting a bit of a party site.
When we arrived the site was half full so I expected it to fill up a lot, but to our surprise it did not fill up much more at all.
The visitors on site were a good mix of non-festival and festival goers, which made for a nice atmosphere. The site was quiet each evening by 11pm to midnight and quiet again until a respectable time the following day.
The site has 2 mens showers and toilets, and I guess the same for the ladies, but I do not know this for sure. There is a laundry room and a kids playarea and pets are allowed on site.
The site is located a few minutes walk from Wooton where you can find a nice pub, serving great food, a small Tescos and a good variety of other shops. Ryde is not too far from here as are all the other great attractions that the IOW has to offer.
Location from the Wooton ferry is fantastic being just 5 mins away and from East Cowes is only about 10 mins away, so ideal for a quick journey to your site once on the island.
The site is huge with plenty of fresh water points and is kept clean and the grass was kept at a good level. The site is adjacent to a massive forest one side, with farm land behind and stunning views over to Cowes on the other side, although you cannot see the sea from this site at all.
This site was very reasonably priced at around £7 for the three of us in one tent without electric hookup per night.
This is fab base to tour the island and great for walkers and cyclers due to its location to the ferry ports.
If you are using this as a base for the IOW festival, then they provide buses that drop off and collect in Wooton, meaning you only have a 5 minutes walk to the site. If you wish to walk to the festival then that take about 45 minutes as my friend found out who missed the last bus!
Great site and one that I would use again.

Good basic site with a lovely location. Very slight gradient but this didn't really seem to matter. The site is quite high up so you get a nice view of all the greenery in the area. Showers and loo's were clean and the site was well kept. Nice pub just down the road, a bit further up a Tesco's extra. Bus routes just outside that runs every 15 mins to either Ryde or Newport.
