I have a certain sympathy with some of the comments re 'rules' made in the previous review. I was staying in the excellent Erwlon campsite in LLandovery on my way to South Pembrokeshire. And it seemed to make sense to visit this site as it it was only 7 miles up the road from Erwlon.

The other problem was that the weather was closing in and the objective was to go for a walk rather than sit in a campsite. So as we were only 7 miles away, as a matter of courtesy I rang the site and asked if I could arrive before 12. 00, bearing in mind that this was low season. This was difficult as they had to clean the toilets & my response to this was 'could I then just turn up, pitch up and then sort it out later. ' This was not possible as the club's rules state that I have to be escorted to a pitch. I nearly did not go, but cut a long story short, I arrived dead on 12. 00, packed lunch already made, water taken on at Erwlon and away we went and had an excellent circular walk via the Llyn Brianne Dam. (pictures on my blog show that the weather just about held). We even had time for a beer at the Towy Bridge, which does excellent value meals.

As for the site, well it meets all of the normal first class C & CC standards, it is in a beautiful location, excellent value for money, as I am a member and eligible for the age concession, polite and courteous wardens. All I would ask for is a bit of flexibility. Ok I do understand, having spoken to wardens before, that the great Britsh public can at times not be the most co operative, and some of the stories that I have heard are unbelievable, I did, however, visit 3 sites after this one; phoned each one before I left and had no problems arriving before the 'alloted time', That is what good customer service is, going beyond the norm, and exceeding the customer's expectations. Sadly the response I received was expected so no no disappointment their.

This site is run with military precision. We were greeted by a very friendly lady and then shown to our pitch by an equally informative and friendly fella, who told us where to pitch out tent (exactly to the inch).

Very level and well kept, good drainage we settled in all well day 1. Day 2 went to the loo unfortunately they are completely closed from 11-12, warden cleaning one of the toilets I asked could I not use one of the other 9 toilets no they are closed for cleaning there is a sign. Friends then arrived. Observing the strict 1 car per pitch rule they opened the gate and drove in in drop of their bedding and return their car to the other side of the gate in the clearly signed visitor area. The car hadn't even stopped when a warden came running up out of breathe. Stating sign, gate, must stop there is a sign, mgr goes mad if you ignore the sign. Friends quickly drove back to reception announced their arrival and were allowed back onto field to unpack the car.

Day 3 I forgot the 11-12 toilet/shower closed rule as was concentrating on the must vacate pitch by 12 rule. Went to shower at 10. 59. Warden glared 'you don't think you're having a shower do you, closed for cleaning it is clearly signed'. Drove home in PJ

At nearly £45. 00 for 4 adults not the cheapest, very friendly if you abide by the rules, lovely cleaned presented toilets and free showers,

little shop on site as the basics only open for cash sales 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon. We tried to buy citronella tea-lights at 5:03 as getting bitten to death. Warden inside just looked at us pointed at the sign open 4-5pm. Think I will stick to smaller less officious sites. Wardens need to chill out a little bit.

As soon as we got to this site we were welcomed

the camp site was all we could ask for. Showers and toilets were clean, and had lovely washing up and laundry facilities.

The views from the site were lovely, and so many walks for the dog and best of all it was quiet.

Also near the site is a lovely pub which we ate from. You may have to walk up a steep hill but its worth it. Also no mobile signal, which was even better.

We only stayed for 2 nights, but wished we could have stayed longer, we will be going back to this lovely site.

We stayed here on August Bank Holiday Sunday & Monday night. The site has great views, we stayed in the first field where the play area is. Probably as it was bank holiday, I wouldn't exactly say it was a quiet site there were people playing music until late.

Pub at the top of the hill was good although we didn't eat there we just had a drink.

Shower blocks were clean, and closed for 2 hours for cleaning. We visited Dinas Nature reserve about 3 miles away,

Most people departed on the Monday morning so Monday night was a lot quieter,

Probably wouldn't stay here again as there didn't seem a lot to do for any more than 2 days.

A truly exceptional site with friendly and helpful staff surrounded by wonderful hillside views with Buzzards and Red Kites flying overhead.

The facilities and toilets are excellent which were always spotlessly clean (day or night), with the site itself well drained (not that we needed it), flat and well maintained.

As already mentioned in previous reviews the village shop does visit the site daily bringing milk, bread and ordered papers etc which is a bonus as the nearest shop (Co-Op) is in town and about a 15 min drive.

Be aware though, there is a very poor phone signal (O2=nothing, T-mobile/Orange = Poor) although there is a pay phone on site; but this didn't bother us in the slightest.

My only minor gripe would be that the pitches allocated to us had mounds of gravel behind in the neighbouring field which covered our car and tent in dust, nothing that wouldn't stop my wife and I from returning to this wonderful site.

This was our first camping experience and it was a totally positive one. The site is in a gorgeous setting, with plenty of walks in the surrounding area.

The owners are friendly and very helpful, even giving us jump leads as our car wouldn't start on our last day! The toilet block and facilities were in excellent condition, constantly spotless as were the washing up area and laundry.

The children's play area has 2 swings, a slide and a large area for ball games and general running around! My 4 daughters thoroughly enjoyed themselves there!

We walked up the hill to the Royal Oak pub where my husband enjoyed some local beers. It is on a hill but its only the last part that's steep, we have 4 daughters the youngest of which os 4 and they all managed it!

Everyone was so friendly, the site was well kept, and one we'll definitely be returning to, we thoroughly enjoyed!

Agree with other reviewers, a truly beautiful site.Very friendly and helpful staff.

Facilities spotless.

Local village shop visits the site four times a week with a vehicle stocked with provisions. Village has a pub, tearoom and post office which is also a general store.

Walks straight from the site. Bought fresh eggs from one of the cottages in the village.

Llandovery is 7 miles away with a large somerfields supermarket.

If you love wildlife I was able to watch Red Kites,Buzzards and even saw a kingfisher darting along the river which runs along the site. RSPB Dinas reserve only two miles from the site and is beautiful place to visit.

No mobile phone signal but there is a payphone on site and well stocked information room. Will definitely go back.

Beautiful site tucked away in a green valley on the banks of the river Tywi. 7 miles notrth of Llandovery, and about 5 miles south of the beautiful Llyn Briane reservoir.

The site is a C&CC site so a bit pricey if you are not a member, but for members the site is flat, well drained, with shower and toilet facilities to die for. Wardens very nice and helpful, and although lots of little ones on site at August bank holiday, site absolutely silent after about 10:30pm.

Problem for us was that the site is so remote, there is not a lot to do if you don't get nice weather, village has 1 shop and a pub, and nearest small town is 7 miles down a winding country road away. Drove 12 miles each way to get us a Sunday lunch as it was raining quite heavily on the second day of our break.

If you are looking for peace quiet and unspoilt countryside walks, then this site is for you, if you enjoy the occasional trip into town, or are looking for a bit more than peace and quiet for your break, then probably best pass on this one.

Just returned from this site - Brilliant! Lovely people running it, great facilities, fantastic area. So peaceful it's probably the quietest site we have been to.

Local pub,The Royal Oak,smashing old pub less than half a mile from site but up a steep hill(be warned) well worth the walk though. Great welcome and many many unusual small brewers beers and ciders to try.

Look out for Cornish Duncan he tells some really funny stories. All in all have come back refreshed and will definateley visit again.

Fantastic site- happy, friendly welcome and really clean. A real escape from everything. Good facilities and wonderful views.

Great pub, The Royal Oak Inn, at the top of the hill serves a fantastic selection of real beer and ciders and really lovely food as well. The pub was a great escape when the weather was not so friendly. The Landlord sent us on an amazing drive that made the sunny day of our holiday really memorable. We keep on looking at the photos!

RSPB Dinas is near by and is a real bonus to our holiday if you like walking and scrambling.

We would recommend Rhandirmwyn to anyone and are going back again soon.
