We have just returned from 8 nights staying at this site just before the half term week.

Upon arrival you have to wait at the entrance to be shown to your pitch, we arrived at 11 check in was from 12, normally you would be allowed on early however we had to wait until 12 even though the pitch was empty - can't complain about that though our fault for being early. The warden greeted us and was very helpful, they are very strict on how you position your caravan we had to move ours by 2' even though we were just starting to set up inside - however it's suck a beautiful well maintained site I can see why.

All the pitches are hard standing and flat with gravel/slate for the awning. As the wardens don't like you to overhang the grass at the back it means the front of your van (if long) has to overhang the parking bit of the road, it's a shame they didn't make the pitches slightly bigger to prevent this - ours is only single axle. Next to your awning is a nice grass area too for sitting out on so I actually felt like the pitches were quite spacious and not on top of each other.

We don't use the toilet block however I always like to have a look at them, these were spotless and modern couldn't fault them.

We used the club one night which was fine, same as any other Haven really. We didn't use any of the restaurants. We did use the swimming pool a lot, we loved it. First couple of times we could use the baby pool which is all 0. 4m deep with little slides in it and a raft thing for them to climb on, best baby/toddler pool I've ever been in. At first the wave pool was closed as it looked as though they were re grouting the tiles, when that one opened though the baby pool then shut much to my daughters disappointment. I'm not too sure why, perhaps they didn't have enough life guards. The life guards actually are really good, always watching very attentive there has to be about 5 on duty at a time due to the shape of the pool. The rapids were good we enjoyed those.

The whole area is lovely, we'd never been to Wales before, we actually wished we had gone for longer. Black Rock sands beach is the best beach to go to in my opinion, you can drive on to the beach and then set up next to your car, my better than having to cart all your stuff from the car to the beach.

Overall this is a lovely park, the touring feels a bit separate to the other site but I like this however it's close to all facilities even for younger kids to walk. I would definitely recommend and I would go back, I've done this site, caister, wild duck, reightin sands and Perran sands and this is by far the best one.

Booked a chalet on this site through The Sun newspapers £9. 50 holidays as a short - early in the season long weekend break.

On arrival, we were given the keys and shown by the helpful reception staff on a map where to go.

You have to park in a car park next to the chalet park and take your stuff from the car to the chalet from there. There was a service road through the middle of the chalets, but guests are not allowed to use it. Shame really when you may have many bags to shift.

The site, was clean and litter free. It was raining heavily when we arrived and there was no surface water lying anywhere, so it looks like the ground could handle it.

The chalet was spotlessly clean, but was very dated looking. It had the odd paint splash here and there, and on furniture too sadly that made the age of them stand out even more.

Electric panel heaters for heating the two bedrooms, an electric fan heater type fire in the living / dining room and an electric towel radiator in the bathroom, and did a very good job at keeping everyone warm at night.

Our bed was clean but wasn't very comfortable, felt worn out and lumpy. When you've got back problems, you notice this. The duvet / quilt only just covered you both once in bed too. Don't know what the kids beds were like though as they never said anything.

The shower cubicle in the bathroom was tiny, in the corner of the bathroom, about a metre square and only about 2m high. I'm 5'10, so it felt cramped when I used it. But you could get it nice and hot though.

By the time we got settled on our first night, it was getting on, and so decided to have a meal at the on site pub, 'The Mash & Barrel'.

Or maybe not, we looked at the menu and thought it was very expensive!

Went to JD Wetherspoons 'Pen Cob' in Pwhelli instead. Only 5 minutes in the car, and it's about half the price.

And by the looks of it, many others from the site had the same idea. As you had to display an entrance / exit card in your car from the Haven site, we saw many of these cards in other cars next to the Wetherspoons.

The Spar shops on the site too are expensive, but fortunately never needed to use them.

Never used the site parks / amusements, or night time entertainment facilities even though we did buy the 'passes' as a 'just in case'.

The wife and kids used the pool though in the morning of leaving day before we left. She said it was cold, except for the 'rapids'.

We used the park as a base to explore the area. And there's masses of things to do in North Wales we think.

So buying the passes was a 'lesson learned', you don't need them as there's plenty to do off site around North Wales.

The Highland Railway and 'Electric Mountain' are two examples of what we did. There's still loads more to do here but we were only here for the weekend.

And so, would we return? It's a maybe from us.

A bit on the expensive side if you did pay full whack for what you get we think.

We took our van here for a short break, 4 days at £66. 00 so not to expensive, the pitches as already described are of the euro standard, our van lacks such mod cons so we just used our waste master and aqua roll as usual although we did use the TV hook-up point.

The pitches although nicely laid out are a little on top of each other, the toilet blocks were nice, modern and clean, water was always comfortable in the gents and ladies shower, be advised though that at peak periods I would expect them to be very busy as with many sites demand outstretched supply.

On our pitch there was some road noise but not at all excessive, wardens were welcoming on arrival told us where to pitch on the map and that was that, never saw them again. The site issues rules regarding awnings, gazebos, tents sleeping in awnings as all barred but people just ignored these.

The site itself covers a huge area and it is a bit of a trek from the summit area to the main restaurant, being a Haven site it was busy with the newspaper offer that many had taken and for such a break is an ideal park for families.

Would we go again, probably not but I can see the appeal if you've got a family.

Stayed for 4 nights Mon-Fri, great value at £11 per night including electric.

Lovely touring area, all super pitches with good sizes.

Toilets and shower block very modern, clean and tidy.

Facilities on site if you choose to use them including swimming, Spar store (expensive) pizza place and chippy. Mash and barrel pub also.

Just spent a fantastic week on Hafan touring site. We were blessed with warm sunny weather the whole week and this made a difference to our holiday. We have stayed on this site several times and love it. The pitches are the new euro harstanding pitches with water/waste and elec, they are hardstanding and slate gravel for the awning, you may need an extension pipe for your water hook up depending on which pitch you are on so take one with you! We were furthest away and liked this location, its quiet and there is some slight road noise but nothing to spoil our holiday. The facilities are excellent, the showers and toilets are immaculate and the site is kept like this by the wardens who are sited on site. The park itself has something for everyone, the entertainment was good and we had some great nights out. The pool complex is good with water slides and we purchased an activity pass and my girls loved the water walkers and pool party, they did roller skating and Aerial rope experience which was built last year. The beach is fab on a warm sunny day and the sea goes out which is safe, the coastline in this area is stunning. We love this site and cant fault it at all. The touring park is set away from the complex so you can have it quiet if you want it. We also cycled into Pwehlli along the cycle path across the road from the site, its an old road which has been turned into a cycle path, 8 miles round trip and great for the kids with only a small bit of road to go onto.

We will be returning to Hafan probably year after next, we like to try different sites but keep coming back to our faves.

Just returned from Hafan y mor touring site today, the touring site was keept to high standard, pitch and toilets immaculate, our pich was at the furthest end of the site and one or two complaints I had were the toilet block should have been sited in the middle of the site we were quite far from it, and the other complaint was the noise of traffic on the main road at night.

Have just spend 5 nights in the touring area of the site called Summit Park.

The name gives it away with clear view over to Snowdonia, so very nice views on a clear and sunny day which we lucky we got for a visit.

The touring area appears to be very new with the Euro Style pitches, so all pitches are flat on concrete based with room with awnings on slate base followed by a small grass area. All pitches have there own water supply, electricity, waste and TV hook up.

The are was kept spotless and you could see the Wardens took pride in keeping the touring area in a good condition and also very friendly.

Probably the best compliment I can give, is that pictures on the Haven website is exactly what you will get.

The shower and toilets were always clean and the water hot. Possibly in the summer there may not be enough Showers ( 3 in the men's), but I guess since it is for Caravans only there is a certain exception that some users will use their own showers in the their Vans.

The touring park is a couple of mins walk for the facilities but isolated enough not to be affected any noise from passing foot traffic or the facilities themselves.

The area also has a small climbing frame for children.

I only have a couple minor complaints:

Dogs are allowed on site but it quite a walk to any area where a dog can be given a run off the lead. I would have been nice to have small dog walk area near by

Although there is play area, again it quite a walk to any large grassed area for Children to play, so a small area for ball games would have been nice.

And probably my biggest complaint, is that the walk from Touring area to the facilities is not the most pedestrian friendly especially with a pram as walkways just seem to finish which then require walks on roads. Nothing major as they are obviously quiet roadways but would have been nice to have had a continuous footpath with crossing painted on the roads for safety.

But these where only very minor nice to have complaints and will be visiting Hafan y Mor touring area again.

Just counter the previous poster, everyone was very respectful and the touring area was very quite after dark and did not see any dog waster.

My views on the site in general:

My 4 year old loved the pool with the slides, wavepool and rapids, he took part in some of the activties laid on, fencing, mini archery and learn2bike and was impressed with staff who looked generally interested in giving the kids a fun time.

The part of the site before the railway line was well kept with nicely manicured walkways, with the two night time venues, a couple of Spa shops ( which were surprisingly well priced on some items), mini golf, swimming pool.

Once you cross over the railway, the typical Haven feel falls away a little and back towards the 'butlins of old', it was still nice and tidy but lacked the upkeep and care and attention of the manicured areas of block paving and planting.

Hopefully in the future Haven can match this side of the site to areas before the railway line.

Overall very nice 5 day break.

Just came back (30/05/14) spent kids half term on this haven site on the touring section. Maintained to an excellent standard by touring wardens Mike and Paula, helpful nothing too much trouble. Showers and toilets spotlessly clean.

Now for the downside, there are no rules! No curfews, so if you want a decent nights sleep especially in high season forget it. Kids running riot on motorised scoots from 7am until well past 10. 30-11pm.

Dog excrement is rife, gives responsible dog owners bad name. Not enough dog bins around the park and they aren't emptied on a regular basis. Dog excrement on paths, stuck to kerbs disgusting.

Young adults (18+) left in charge of facilities in sports building too busy chatting, laughing an joking, I purchased an activity pass on arrival and they gave wrong dates times, days etc manager offered as a gesture of goodwill to take my son on a one to one segways session, then he didn't turn up!

One unfortunate family again stopping on touring section had his caravan stoned by children off the static park section. This was at 2. 30am! Rowdy families left to run riot, security won't remove them.

Have had three or four good holidays here, however, it's time to move on the park appears to be attracting a new form of utter lowlife.

Just returned from a very enjoyable stay at this site. The touring area is called Summit View and is set aside from the main complex. The views were stunning from this side, snow peaked mountains, this is the best Haven touring site we have stayed on. Its all new and the pitches are concrete hardstanding with water/waste and tv hookup, there is slate gravel for the awning and we put up a huge awning and still had grass space.

There are approx 75 pitches and I they are quite close together, but, this didn't affect our stay and it was very quiet on site. The showers and toilets are new and really warm. The wardens were there if you needed them, they are strict on the 10am departure time so make sure your up and ready because the pitches are filled as soon as they are empty.

The pools are brilliant for kids of all ages, large water slides, rapids and wave pools in a warm building, they close around 5. 45 and 1hour at lunchtime but you can book water activities during these hours which are chargeable. We went out at night and watched the entertainment, they had some good bands on most nights and the staff also put on a good show, we really enjoyed it. There's a burger king, chippy and mash & barrel for food, we only used the chippy for supper and it was fine.

For what we paid we couldn't fault this site at all, love the area too its gorgeous, the beach at the top of the site is worth a walk to as its stunning scenery and would be nice in warm weather. We were very lucky with the weather too, after all the snow the week before this part of Wales wasn't affected and the sun shone for 6 days, it was just a cold wind.

Enjoyed it that much we have booked another week for October half term.

We stayed In a static caravan at the other side of the holiday park. Had a look at the Caravan/motorhome pitches. It was all nicely laid out, but looked a little bit cramped. Not a lot of space between units, Also lacking grass. Toilets and washroom very clean.

Its at the end of the park hidden away In a quite area away from the main complex with views out towards Blackrock Sands. There Is plenty to do on the site.

As there are lots of entertainment daily. Shows Spar Shops. Cafe's, bars, swimming pool. Play area for children etc. Ideal for family's, and a very good base for touring the Lyn Peninsula:

It has its own beach.

And lovely walks upto the headland with views of Abererch Sands, Pwllheli & Abersoch. A lovely clean well kept and maintained holiday park
