We drove over 4. 5 hours to go camping here when arriving the only available pitches where like ponds, caravans parked on road so they wouldn't get stuck. Pallets used as paths

Reception offered a full refund but couldn't care less that we travelled so far, we asked if there were any campsite nearby, their answer was don't know?

The portacabins as toilets had muddy water everywhere, toilet paper everywhere, dirty toilets, the showers where even worse.

A site this big should have all weather pitches, we asked for a hardstanding, all we got was, whats that?

Lovely site, been here many times. Location magnificent. Plenty to do. The best Haven site we have visited. Looking forward to the new touring facilities.

Pool areas are clean and well maintained. Recent up grades to site facilities are very good. Although eating out is quite expensive on the site.

Can be expensive to go but keep an eyeout for the special offers.

There are two beaches although access to main beach is quite challenging even for able bodied people. The base of the pathway needs some attention.

Play areas are extensive and there are a number of them with a sports area for ball games.

The boating lake is the other side of the railway and is home to many wild birds.

There are woodland walks as well as the cliff top walk to the beach.

Booked this site to take 4 grandkids away for a few days. Have used Haven before and found them to be quite good. NOT this one though.

We were allocated pitch 13, which, although them being told we had a 7 m caravan, was very small and the tow hitch was out in the road. Once our awning was up, we were very close to the neighbour and had difficulty using the side door of the awning. We had to pitch with our awning window right next to the hook up point and attached light, so therefore did not need an awning light at all!

The portakabin toilet and shower blocks were well kept and ample, despite the fact the touring area seemed to be full.

The swimming pool was great, but the nightly entertainment was the worst I have ever known in Haven. The 'circus' act seemed to go from one entertainment venue to the next and did not change one iota.

About 3 miles from Pwellhi and 14 from Porthmadog, the site is quite handy for visiting local attractions, (all of which we found very expensive compared to when we last went when our children were still children!)

As said by others, the spar shop was reasonable as was the chip shop.

Ok lets start with the good things first, the washing and shower facilities were ok, mostly clean, just sometimes a little wet on the floor which is to be expected really as people are wet when they get out of the shower. The swimming pool was great, and the staff helpful and friendly, but also firm with the swimmers who tried to mis-behave! The beach is really nice, and also very clean.

The entertainment was a different story though, on our first night there we were treated to a Meatloaf tribute act, the band themselves where great. Up until the lead singer started to sing, well try to sing that is! From then on that seemed to set the level of entertainment for the rest of the week, Haven staff trying to do a high school musical / hannah montanna / camp rock type of show - even the kids who love this stuff were a little bemused to see a rather overweight middle aged chap badly trying to impersonate Troy from HSM!

The main bug bear for us was the fact that Haven try to extract every last available penny from you whilst you are on their site, ok, I understand its a business, but it gets ridiculous when in a restaraunt and all you can see are the flashing lights of the teddy grab machines and amusements.

There are 2 well stocked Spar shops on site and to be hoonest they wern't as expensive as we thought they would be, just normal prices on most things really.

The Burger King that is on site was ok, selling the usual stuff at the same price as anywhere else, but the Papa Johns Pizza was very expensive, and not very good at all. The water walkers (£5 for 7 mins) were ok, apart from the one my daughter was in popped and started to sink, luckily the pool they use for these is basically just a bigger version of a inflatable pool from Netto and was only 18 inches deep! The fact that We had to go over and rescue my daughter ourselves was a bit worrying though as the staff seemed more interested in playing basketball in the kids park next to it, and then only said 'oh, I didn't realise she was having trouble'.

Whilst we were there it rained quite a lot, and this seemed to restrict the amount of activities that you can do whilst at Hafan y mor, as most are outside activites that are not run during bad weather, so if it rains basically its the amusements or nothing!

We were allocated an extra large pitch with electric when booking, but to be honest I think that was just wishful thinking on their part, a pitch just long enough to take the caravan, just wide enough for the van & awning and a little extra at the side for parking, oh, and not forgetting the conker tree we were shoved under that kept dropping its fruit all over the van & awning during the night!

All in all, not the best site we have been to, but I suppose if the weather was better for the activities and you have a taste for bad tribute acts, an endless pot for the arcade machines and love in your face kids entertainers, then this is the place to go. Otherwise it may be ok for a 1 or 2 night stay on your way to another site somewhere. Would we go back? No, not to hafan y mor, and to be honest if this is what all Haven are like then not to any of those either.

Arrived to this site as part of our main summer holiday before moving on to New Quay in Wales. Upon arrival we was shown to a pitch and was not given an option to move anywhere else even though the large pitches did not even get close to being full for the week we where there, however the pitch was OK (Overlooking the static caravans).

As previously stated the toilet block is some portable cabins in a bit of a block, however these are kept very clean and tidy and the showers were ok as well. The family room was a separate toilet/shower room behind the male and female toilets but it was not clearly labelled as the family room it just looked like another female toilet and because there was no baby bath, just a standard shower cubical, this made it difficult to shower the little one down. For me this is really its main downfall at Haven for the size of this company not to have a proper main toilet block for the touring campers and for the amount that you pay at this site compared to i.E. Club sites that are cheaper and have immaculate proper toilet blocks.

If you have little ones there is plenty to do at this site.

They have the swimming pool, ammusements, crazy golf, karting, trampolines and a bouncy castle, with a couple of shops on site and a burger king and a fish 'n' chips shop. Most things are not included and are there at a cost such as the crazy golf, karting, bouncy castle and trampolines ect.

Our little one loved the swimming pool which all people young and old alike would love as it had water slides, jet pools, a wave pool and the river rapids (The river rapids where not working properly on the week we were here).

The beach is to the back end of the site and was lovely.

Where we was pitched, we had little or no noise from the showbar or any of the entertainments but on the final night of our stay we had 2 colour changing solar lights stolen from our pitch which we had to the outside of our awning (some people just don't respect other peoples belongings), which I have had these lights out at nearly every site I have visited in the past 3 years, but it is a Holiday park and not a touring park and I now suppose that people don't view or look after your neighbours belongings here as you would on a club site or any other touring site and that most people on this site are hiring out static caravans or apartments and do not realise that touring campers build up there setups over many years and look after there belongings.

All in all, had a good time but let down by the toilets and the expense of the place.

We have just returned from a free weekend at this Haven site courtesy of the Caravan Club. It is the first non Caravan Club site that we have stayed at in a long time and we were very pleasantly surprised.

The touring area varies from hardstandings to grassed areas interspersed with trees, the drainage seemed good where we pitched. It is actually quite pretty and this was a shock after reading the previous reviews! The touring facilities are in a portacabin block but are immaculately clean and well maintained, we never had to wait to shower despite the touring park being full.

Noise is not a problem as you are sited well away from the 'entertainment' venues, but close to the swimming pool which is great fun.

There is a path that leads around the back of the park over to a beach, we did this in a hired pedal buggy, lots of leg work!

Our children loved the activities, ropeworks, play areas, go-karts and pool complex but they equally enjoyed rock pooling at nearby Criccieth.

Overall we found the site very clean and well maintained, not at all rowdy and with very friendly and helpful staff. Our only complaint was that we were handed a sticky menu in the Mash and Barrell pub. Overall we would return and we found it very good value (considering the Caravan Club paid!).

Arrived at 10.00 security said you early,if you want you can pay 10.00pound to get on pitch so we did. Yeah alright it looks like a carpark but what a gem of a site, brilliant, fantastic. Shower toilet block always clean and tidy and been busy I could always get a shower.
The site is enormous, but fantastic for kids, can let them roam around freely and not worry. Plenty of bars and entertainment, alright we had to get in clubhouse at 5.45 to get a seat but well worth it,the show doesn't start till 10.20.

The swimming pool is the best ive been in for haven fantastic, the only thing I didn't agree on that other people can pay and come and use the facilities. Meals are very good value for money best visit the lakeside inn, big portions and if you go between 3 and 5 you get two meals for nine pounds. You can also get a breakfast for £2.50 sausage egg bacon beans toast. On a Wednesday they have a curry night 8.00 for meal and a pint or soft drink.

Whilst you down there they have a laundrette it cost me 10.50 to do 2 washes large and dry them all. Then there's a shop this is the cheaper shop on site and if you look there are some lodges go up and walk round and at back there is a fantastic beach we didn't find it till last day.

And whilst you here visit ffestiniog railway had a brilliant day paid 17.50 an adult beauty is kids are free. Then after you must visit porthmadog and nefyn, criccith, there is a asda but don't use that turn right when you come out of campsite and 15 minutes away is tesco, lidl aldi.

We arrived to stay for 5 days in our tourer, at security we were told to go and park up where we wanted and just to let them know which pitch we were on which was nice. The pitches arent as I have experienced in other sites by means of drainage, we have stayed in 2 Haven sites and neither seem to be engineered fully to cope with issues such as waterlogging, the area could be set out better but to be honest I really couldn't complain! The toilets are portaloos but big ones which were always very clean and provided lots of showers and toilets.

The camping site is very close to the swimming pool, and main entertainment complex which was really nice. Having looked around we decided that there would be more than enough to do in 5 days so I asked at reception about staying an extra night which was granted for just £5!

The site has changed from what I remember as a child! There is lots to do and the children loved it we will definitely be going back.

My only criticism would be that we arrived in June (out of peak time) and it was busy but comfortable. By the end of that week it was becoming more of a squeeze and yet it is still not in the holidays, which makes me think that during the school holidays it would be extremely busy and difficult to get seated for entertainment etc.

I thought that the entertainment, on site food, and facilities were fantastic and I couldn't fault them at all.

We will be going back next year :)

Trying to think how best to start with this one! On arrival at the security gate we were asked if we wanted to pay an extra £10 for an early arrival. We did so and were pointed in the direction of the camping area.

There we were met by the warden who showed us to our pitch and explained that the wheels needed to be on the matting (which I had to get out to see due to previously being immersed in mud). Our van is only around 20 foot in length and with only a narrow track to try to manoeuvre on, found it a little awkward to get onto the pre-determined area. The pitch was not level either, meaning that the rear was almost on the floor yet the front quite raised up.

Half the pitches are like this. The other half didn't fair much better either. As previously mentioned by others, this area must have previously been used as a car park or maybe it used to be chalets which have now been removed. Many caravans were pitched alongside a small grass bank on a tarmac surface. Fine if you don't want an awning up. If you do want the awning up, then be prepared for the fact that the grass is on a slope, therefore so will the awning be.

The pitch we were on backed straight up to the front door and bedroom windows of the chalets. Fortunately for us, we closed the rear sun blind, therefore never had to put up with the view. The view out the front, however, was spectacular overlooking the mountains in the distance.

Electric was fine (think they are 16 amp hook-ups, but wouldn't swear to it). The water taps had not been thought out. The outlets are industrial sized and sprayed water everywhere. Any attempt to open the tap with the water container below and get it to fill up without wasting 90% of the water was futile. Luckily I had a length of new flexy waste hose (28mm dia) that I managed to 'screw' on. Sounds trivial, but the lack of ability to easily fill your water container after a 4.5 hour drive can be very annoying!

The toilet block, showers and waste disposal points are porta-cabins. Ok for a temporary measure but these have obviously been here a while and should be treated by Haven as sub-standard and should be properly replaced.

The rest of the site itself is typically Haven. Overall impressions are that it is fairly good. The site was kept clean and tidy. The pool facilities are ok. Didn't use the entertainment but stopped here a few years ago and it didn't look any different (i.E. Typical Haven).

The chip shop is pure rubbish as is the KFC. Cheap labour employed to cook the cheapest ingredients (in my opinion). Usual overpriced supermarket and novelty gift shops.

Over the railway line is the sports court area and the way to the beach (beach by name - have a game of spot the sand if you want hours of amusement). The coastal walk provided pleasant views.

If you want to get some shopping in, there is a reasonably sized Asda in Pwllheli (you can't miss it - turn left out of the Haven site and got straight, you will run into it).

Well, if you've read this far you've done well! To summarise :-

The site is a Haven and is very typical of a Haven, although I would say one of the better family ones with loads to do for the kids.

Food is the usual Haven rubbish. Everything is overpriced. Tourers are second class and the touring area is an afterthought. There is a railway near the touring area but never noticed any noise.

The site is a good base to go explore the North West area of Wales. The beach is not very sandy, but does give a pleasant walk to get to.

Would we re-visit? Not unless they did something with the touring area. Its a bit of a joke really, but acceptable if you really want Haven in the North West of Wales!

PLEASE NOTE THAT MY RATINGS ARE FOR THE HAVEN SITE AND NOT JUST THE TOURING AREA. As already stated the touring area is poor and scores a 3/10.

Just returned from a weekend at Hafan y mor. Tourer site sandwiched between chalets and statics. Part of it appears to once have been a car park - caravan's pitched along the sides - definitely a bit odd!
We had a grass pitch - which was fine. We went at the end of a dry week - the weather whilst we were there was fantastic, but clearly the wet summer has taken it's toll on the grass. There were patches large of dry mud where awning and caravan doors must have been. This must have been dreadful during the wet weather. Pegging out was fine though.

Site loos and showers were in portacabins. I was expecting the worst - but found them to be fine. They were regularly cleaned, and well stocked with paper. Hot water was plentiful and included.

Outdoor dish washing was OK, but only one out of the 3 sinks has a drainer!

We paid just £28 for grass pitch, awning and 4 adults inc. Passes for water park etc. Good value. However, there is a million and one ways of spending a bundle of cash here! We took our teenage son and his mate who were content with a few beers to keep themselves occupied. Dread to think how much you could spend with a young family. Examples - mini golf £12 family ticket, game of pool £1, hire of a side-by-side pedal thingy £10.

Actually, we're not fans of these commercial places at all, and only went to take son. However, I can say that the park is clean and tidy, the central area where the main facilities are is really attractive. But the emphasis is definitely on parting the punter from as nuch of his cash as possible! Including being able to 'Treat Your Kids to a Yard of Fizzy pop'! Nice!
