Having just returned from our first visit to Hafan Y Mor I felt it appropriate to share my views of the site.
On arrival we were greeted by one of the wardens who escorted us to our pitch which was a solid concrete base with slate chippings for the awning which was hard to drive pegs into, parking is at the front of the pitch which can make some parts a bit tight.
The facilities are first class although we did need to have an extension for the water as the turret was over the far side of the pitch.
The site has only been open since March but I expected to find some deterioration of the facilities but none were evident the pitches were kept spotless by the wardens who were out as soon as someone left. The toilet block was immaculate no signs of any issues that normally blight such facilities eg vandalism and graffiti it was warm and welcoming on every occasion.
The playground was easily accessed and was a hit with the kids (10 and 4) we felt everything on the touring area was safe as we were tucked away from the main area of the site. There is some road noise and the occasional Train could be heard but nothing that would spoil the holiday.
We did have some very selfish dog owners who decided that despite the numerous dog bins that they were above picking up after their pooches but once again the wardens were excellent and cleaned the park after a child inadvertently climbed over the frame and slide with dog poo on their shoes.
The main water complex is excellent, warm with great activities and slides as well as ample hot showers (not always the case with Haven swimming pools) however main water flumes are not open on Monday or Friday which means if you book a long weekend then these are unavailable, also the changing rooms are a bit lacking but at least the lockers return your money after use.
The Mash and Barrel had good quality food and were was super quick on both occasions we used it but a bit on the pricey side overall ok
As usual the entertainment is staged around the arcades and here there are three complexes and therefore three arcades all designed to part the punters with more and more money.
The biggest disappointment was the lack of beaches when you look at the map it shows a swage of yellow beach area nearby however when you get there it is nothing but large pebbles and a mixture of building materials.
Nearest supermarkets are Asda in Pwllheli 5 miles away (very limited stock) or Tesco in Porthmadog 8 miles away (better stock levels)
Would we go again yes but not at peak period due to lack of decent coastline
Local attractions are a little limited and somewhat expensive (Steam train ride from Porthmadog to Caenarfon £34 per adult however kids free) when asked where was a good day out, one of the staff recommended The Trafford Centre and as we come from just north of Manchester we thought we would give it a miss

We stayed here for August bank holiday, staying 3 nights.
We are a family of 4, with 2 children aged 6 and 4.
This site is by no means cheap, we paid over £50 per night for our Euro pitch (all pitches are of this type), which included hook up, our own water supply and waste connection.
The awning part of the pitch is graveled/slate, so take some appropriate pegs!
The touring part is new, and well laid out with some nice landscaping, but in can feel a bit like you are in a car park (cars are parked in front of caravans, and a road runs inbetween the two rows of pitches, and for this reason I wouldn't like to stay for more than a few nights, but that's just personal prefernce. The toilet block is immacculate, and there is a small playground amongst the pitches. The lady that greeted us was very helpful, and showed us to our pitch. We arrived early (11. 30. Check in is from 12), but this wasn't a problem, and it appeared that there was a small holding area near to the touring field. (though we didn't use it)
The site itself is huge (lots of statics), and was very busy. There are lots of activities on offer, but most at an additional cost. There are some places to eat/take away on sire, and a well stocked shop, a little more expensive than a supermarket, but only what you would expect from this facility.
Asda is about 3 miles away, and there is also a very handy caravan shop about half a mile away (Evans? turn right when you com out of the site, and it's on the main road)
The swimming pool is a good size, though they don't seem to limit the number of people that they let in so it was extremely busy. We found that waiting until after 4 meant it was quieter, and it stayed open until 5. 45.
The brochure/website stated views of Snowdonia from the touring pitches - no, just views of cars and the campervan opposite! again no big deal as we were out most of the time, but may have been irritating if staying longer.
It also stated that there was a softplay area, true, but only big enough for 2 children tops (I am not exaggerating!), bang in the middle of an arcade so the children ended up wanting money for that, and with no-where for the adults to sit. Really not worth bothering with, and I don't really know why Haven have it at all.
The surrounding area has some lovely places to visit, Criccieth is worth a visit (nice ice-cream shop) and there is a great beach at Abersoch. Get there early on a nice day, because parking places are taken very quickly!
Overall the touring facilities are excellent, and it really depends what you want from a campsite as to whether you will like what this one offers.

We booked this site through the Caravan Club offer of pay for one night, get two for free. This meant that our 3 night stay for 2 adults and 2 children cost only £28.
The touring area is brand new and we were very impressed. The pitch was 100% level and immaculate as was the rest of the touring site. It is located a 5 min walk from the main site and is very quiet both at night and during the day. The shower block was great and was very clean. We found the wardens to be very helpful and informative about the site and surrounding area. We paid extra for a mountain view which was covered by mist and cloud throughout our stay! Not really the site's fault though!
Now the main site. We have never been to a Haven site before and were somewhat dubious of what we might find. We need not have worried - the whole site was fantastic. Our boys loved the swimming pool complex with water slides which was well maintained and clean. They did a couple of paid activities there (£8 and £6) which they really enjoyed. There is a brand new mini golf which we didn't try. Cost for a family £12. We rented a family go kart for an hour at a cost of £10 and used it to explore the static areas of the site. This is a very large site with 1000 statics but they seem well landscaped and not too hemmed in.
The boys did a football training session which was free and we also made use of the sports pitches and playgrounds to keep them entertained. We did not go to any of the evening entertainment so can't comment on that. We did however have a pizza delivery from Papa Johns on site. The pizza was very good and we thought the price of £30 including drinks and ice cream was reasonable.
All in all we are converted to Haven! We will however stick to weekends out of season when the park is quieter (and cheaper!).

We have just been here for a weekend stay over the May bank holiday and also for the Spring Football Festival.
Normally I don't do Haven as everyone I have ever been to (and I have tried a few) with the exception of Weymouth have resulted in a horrendous time and complaints a plenty.
I am really pleased to report that this time at tis Haven, we had a wonderful time. The touring area is brand spanking new with excellent hardstandings and electric, tv, water, waste water and more at each pitch. We couldn't have asked for more.
On top of that the park was excellent, clean and well kept and lovely facilities that didn't leave me feeling like we were slumming it as at previous sites.
A few downsides.
The toilets are beautiful, showers excellent and lovely and warm but the the one thing that let's them down I'd there is nowhere to put your things in the shower such as sponge, shower gel, shampoo so they all have to go on the floor which is such a shame in such lovely facilities and would be so easy to rectify.
The guy on the touring section was a little overzealous and not very friendly, I kept seeing him and another lady walking round with clip boards, it was more like being on parsed than on holiday and when we arrived, we mentioned we would like to be near the toilet block and he just gave the party answer of 'all pitches already being allocated and we could have requested this on booking which they would try and accommodate but couldn't guarantee' we didn't push this as we thought with the football festivals they may be fully booked, only to find that they had ample space closer to the block which given a little effort they could have facilitated easily and gone the extra mile.
Apart from those two negatives, I would be happy to say we would come back to this particular Haven again.

We stayed in one of the prestige caravans there,
The site did show it's age and a few things could do with a lick of paint here and there on the clubhouses, but the site itself was fine, just needed a bit of work doing to make it look brand new.
The site was well laid out and we were the furthest point from the main complex and it was only a 10 minute walk with a 3 year old, so not too bad.
The activities for the kids were good and the swimming pool was great, evening entertainment was always good and the panto was amazing,
We would happily stay again.
Oh, just make sure you take a map or sat nav, as they don't seem to like signposts in the surrounding area

Just visited this Haven park and had a great time. The park facilities are brilliant with a great pool complex, daytime and evening entertainment and a restaurant to name but a few. Always lots to do here. The touring park is new for 2012 following a 1. 1 million investment and is only a two minute walk from all of the facilities. There are 75 hardstanding pitches with concrete for the van and granular slate for the awning area some with a view of Snowdon and it's surrounding mountains (for an extra charge). There is some very minor road noise depending on which side of the park you are pitched. The showers and toilets are clean with plenty of hot water. The warden is very helpful and friendly and this is a huge improvement on the previous touring area which was on grass and mud in wet weather. Well worth a visit.

Where do we start. A brand new Touring area costing Haven 1.1 million. I reckon money well spent.
Every pitch has electric, water, wastage and tv hook up, which is affordable off peak, but extortionate on peak.
We found to our expense that the ground has not settled, hence the awning pegs didn`t hold, so we had ours blow up and over the caravan, but I`m sure this will get better with time.
The toilet block is also brand new, it is heated and excellent in all ways but one. You have to keep pressing the shower button every 10 seconds.
The rest of the site has all the usual Haven facilities, although you have a fair walk to them, also you need to book well in advance to get the events you want.
Finally because we booked through the caravan club we were able to extend our final day to have a late departure.
Will probably return but only off peak

Well haven have just spent £1. 1m on the new touring area and we are impressed .
The touring wardens are lovely and will help in any way they can. Every pitch is hardstanding with parking in front of caravan comes with a drainage point, electric, tv point and tap on your pitch.
Toilet block is lovely coded door but easy to remember showers nice and hot
The site itself was great staff friendly lots for kids to do . As it was march it was quite so quite relaxing not sure what it would be like in august? No kids area in touring section so a 10 min walk to other side of park is needed
This was a free trip for us so good value as in high season this could cost over £700 for are family for 2 weeks??

All new touring park, very nice and well thought out. Every pitch has own Electric, water, waste and tv point. New toilet block, cleaned 2 or 3 times a day but only 3 showers for 74 pitches.
One problem is the speed of cars on touring site with children playing, you have to park your car in front of your caravan on the road, there are lots of blind spots. If this is not addressed an accident may happen.
Near to facilities and great views of mountains. Will go again.
We paid £37 per night before Easter, then it went up to £80 per night at Bank holidays school Summer holidays. I can get a Holiday In the Dordoigne for that money including ferry

Just returned from an end of season break at Hafan Y Mor. We should have come here for a long weekend in September but had to postpone due to car trouble. We had a long journey from Nottinghamshire approx 4-5 hours, the journey itself was amazing with the scenery as you drive through Snowdonia National Park. The site was easy to find the security staff were very polite and helpful, we were directed round the park to the touring site which to be fair we were told by security that it is being totally re built for next season. This can only be a good thing because there were caravans on the grass with awnings having to use duck boards to get from the road to the awning so as not to sink in the mud. We were told to park on the road alongside the grass. We had originally booked for awning pitch but this wasn't on our welcome pack but seeing the pitches we wouldn't have bothered anyway. Along side the touring site were several rows of Hi De Hi type 70's- 80's Chalets which were run down and let the place down, , , luckily as part of the re-vamp these were starting to be flattened as we were there to make way for the new site.
The weather over the weekend did put a big spoiler on the break as we like to travel the area we stay at and see the sights. Friday was mostly taken up with travelling but was dry, Saturday was a complete wash out, we travelled round various towns and villages but only left the dryness of the car to stop at a cafe for lunch. The scenery despite the weather was stunning and I imagine in summer on a good day North Wales would be great.
The nearby towns of Pwellhi and Porthmadog were disappointing Pwellhi had a few nice old fashioned back streets but the rest of what we saw was a grey drab unwelcoming council estate complete with hoodies wandering the streets, Porthmadog was a little better still nothing to do in poor weather, although this does have a coastal steam railway( not cheap though).
Back to the site, The rest of the site was huge and very well laid out and full of stuff to do, 2 bars with live acts (not the best we've seen but it is the end of season) The mash and barrel for once gave good quality and the staff were mostly decent had a couple with no manners. Our kids managed an hour on the play parks on Sunday whilst it was dry and they enjoyed themselves.
As a last break of the season for us we feel it was a let down mainly because of the weather, but I suppose if you caravan in October/November in Wales you aren't going to get much sunshine. The site with new touring facilities will be a top site but is probably wasted where it is. If you want to stay on site for the whole holiday then it will be good for you otherwise it's a lot of travelling to find stuff to do. I very much doubt we will be returning in future as there are far better places to visit in Wales and England.
