The camp site is in a lovely location, with a friendly, character of an owner but little else to shout about.
The field we stayed in was badly covered in sheep and other animal droppings which meant that it was far from child friendly, although the ground was cleaner further towards the entrance and toilet/shower block.
Also, if you're staying in the end field it's quite a walk to get just water as there's no tap at that end.
The toilets and showers were outdated and generally dirty. OK if you don't mind sharing with spider webs and other wildlife. There was very little water pressure so washing hands/dishes was a painfully slow process.
As others have said, the owner drives around the site several times a day and will drive directly up to the tents. He doesn't drive carelessly but with many small children running around, it did feel a bit unnecessary.
A tolerable camp site, but I wouldn't stay there again.

This was a lovely campsite with a friendly owner who went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed.
Toilets are clean and regularly attended to - always stocked with soap and toilet roll.
Showers are not shared with creepy crawlies as implied in some other reviews - in fact the cubicles are painted blue with movement activated lights inside and doors on cable ties that swing shut - resulting in a distinct lack of bugs, compared to other campsites I have visited. Only slight issue is lack of shower curtain risking your things get wet but cubicles are large enough for this not to be a problem. Showers were hot - no problems there, sometimes water pressure issues when many used at once but not really (again compared to other places I've been). No queues, even over bank holiday weekend.
Washing up area not covered but we had good weather. Might be a bit of a pain in the rain.
Fires allowed which is always nice.
Large field means a fair trek to toilet block if in the far field but not a problem at night as there are a few portaloos on route.
Two friendly horses in adjoining field :-)
Mile and a half walk to Branscombe with nice pub with good food. Short walk then to beach. Really beautiful location, and the first field (primarily caravans) has sea view.
Would definitely recommend.

We had a very pleasant 3 days here, the facilities may be basic, but everything worked and was kept as clean as possible considering how busy it was (The Jubilee weekend)
We turned up without pre-booking because of traffic problems, and the owner still made us welcome and showed us where to pitch. He does patrol the site a few times a day, but does not intrude, and he is a good source of local info, and is a good laugh too!
Campfires are welcomed, and the only drawback we found was it can be a bit of a walk to the loos, but the owner warned us about this on arrival, so no complaints!
Plenty to do in the area and great walks from the site.

Stayed over the Jubilee weekend. Site was lovely and quiet on Friday and started getting busier on Saturday onwards. Despite this still plenty of room on the site. When busy the loos/basins did run out of water.
The owner tries really hard to make your stay enjoyable by checking on you regularly (as per previous reviews). This could be invasive if the site was quiet but ok when the site was busy.
The site is a simple couple of fields with spaces for campfires and generally quiet and night. The walk down to Branscombe via the road is ok but climbing back up is a challenge!

We arrived late in the season and late on a Friday night. We were warmly welcomed by the owner and shown to our spot. The view in the morning was wonderful both of the sea and the valley. The area is great for walking and we had two wonderful days walking along the coast in both directions. The facilities were basic but neat and tidy. As we were in a Campervan we didnt need to use them. There are two good pubs within walking distance. There is also a coffee bar and restaurant by the beach. We would recommend the site to anyone who likes views and walking.

We have just returned from a bank holiday stay at Coombe View Farm, after being let down at another campsite we called this campsite and the owner answered and was accommodating straight away giving us good directions etc
On the drive down we read some reviews and started to panic a little, we needn't of worried! We had the best 2 days, the campsite is basic but has a really family orientated feel, we had 3 young children between us and the family we travelled with and they didn't want to come home! They made friends with other children on site and I felt relaxed that they were close by at all times and extremely safe.
We were allowed campfires which was fantastic and the owner was really helpful delivering us some wood. The owner does drive around the site but we didn't find this a nuisance, infact quite the opposite, he was very helpful and when we asked if we could stay late the following afternoon he was very obliging.
The site is very clean and tidy, the facilities are basic but more than adequate, the surrounding area is beautiful, we particularly enjoyed rock pooling at Sidmouth.
Would definitely return to this campsite again if in the area.

My Partner and I have just visited this site for the weekend.
The owner was very friendly in fact he came over to our camp about 10 times during our stay which we felt a little too much. The owner would drive round the site constantly throughout the day and drive right up to your tent. This we felt was a little to intrusive.
The owner asked us 6 times if we had paid and four times where we are from. However he was a very nice man and very helpful.
We didn't check the prices before going to this site but wished we had as upon arrival we were charged £18 per night for a tent. This we felt was a little too high for the type of site it is. The site is in a lovely part of Devon but really its just a normal field in a normal area. After getting home and checking the cost to stay the price states £10 per night and £8 for large awnings, we had an 8 man tent so feel we were over charged.
The shower blocks were sufficient with hot water throughout the day. The showers were quite dirty with cobwebs in all of them. For £18 I would expect a higher standard. The toilets were also not cleaned regularly.
The site does allow fires in specified pitches.

Booked for 3 nights over the Royal Wedding Bank Holiday. Called and booked a few days before arrival so although requested, we were not able to send a deposit.
Upon booking the owner told us to pitch anywhere with electric hook up, which we duly did. We had just got levelled (slightly sloping field), hooked up, tv plugged in (so that we could watch the Royal Wedding) and settled down when the owner arrived. He then told us to move pitch as he was expecting someone else. There was no reason for him to have done this as there was nothing wrong with where we were but we didn't argue. Owner's comment: The reason was these customers spread themselves over 2 electric hook up pitches. After about half an hour of him talking we were able to settle down (this is after his dog, which was running around off of its lead cocked its leg up my husband!) He did not want payment at the time and told us to see him when we were ready.
The owner patrols the fields in his car and will go around each unit to speak at length to the occupant. The rounds start at about 08.30 and go on until about 21.00. Owner's comment: This is done to make sure that everything on the site is ok and that no loud music is being played etc. We pride ourselves in having a quiet site.
I cannot personally comment on the shower and toilet facilities as I did not use them. They are nothing more than sheds for the showers and porta loos. Owner's comment: They are not porta loos, although some of the toilets are in a portacabin which were put in to make sure there are plenty of toilets for our campers etc, they are connected directly to a sewer which is something a porta loo is not.
The second night whilst doing his rounds the owner sped up to our motorhome for payment. A BIG word of warning, measure your unit before arrival and if possible agree a price beforehand. We added up the cost on his website and expected £45 so we were shocked when he asked for £79! He said that our motorhome was larger than his measurements and required an additional £6 per night. He also charged for our dog, even though it should have been free according to his website. In the end we said that we would leave and only stay two nights so he did a 'deal' for the 3rd. Owner's comment: They had not read the tariff correctly.
The site although neat is taken up by empty touring caravans
On the plus side the location is perfect and it is a nice walk to Beer, Branscombe or Seaton. Further afield is Sidmouth or Lyme Regis

We booked for 4 nights, left after 1, Gorgeous views. But that's it.
You are camping in a field, not one specific for campers all year round, ours had sheep as previous occupants which meant it stank and there was sheep poo everywhere. Owner's comment: No sheep have been in this field, it was rabbit poo!
The loos and showers had cobwebs, I didn't want to wash my face let alone shower.
You're in a field in the middle of more farm fields so nowhere to walk, no trees, nothing. Owner's comment: Not correct, the site is next to a wood and many footpaths.
The owner tells you where to park or better still in two cases I saw, turfed the driver out of the car and parked the car for them. Owner's comment: Their caravan was parked for them because they did not know how to reverse.

We have just got back from 10 days at this campsite. The farmer is disorganised and tells you where to pitch the tent and park the car - you will have to remind him if you paid a deposit.
The site is very basic - 4 fields - the first with caravans and electric hook ups, the second can provide electric hook ups then the third and fourth are just fields.
As adults we put up with the ablutions , if we had children we would have left. The shower trays were mainly blocked and did not drain and customers had to clear out the plugs and flooding water ran into the toilets. The toilet cleaning consisted of, new toilet rolls and a flush - nothing was cleaned properly. That said at least the water was hot. The washing up facilities are 2 sinks in the open so you had best hope it does not rain.
The pitch locations are in fields where the grass is kept nice and short and the fields are well drained. The fields slope significantly in places so hope you are not told to go there.
The first 8 days of our stay was fine, but then on the last two days (bank holiday) the farmer crammed as many tents into the fields as humanly possible and the noise and light pollution went on to 0200hrs with music, tv, guitar playing and chatting (loudly).
After the down sides of the site, it was adequate for our requirements and the local area is lovely with some lovely little villages to be found.
