This site is functional. It has everything you would expect from a Caravan Club site in terms of facilities. Cheltenham centre is a pleasant 30 mins walk or easy bus ride away.
We were pitched on the concrete and it is perhaps better if you have a grass pitch but the site felt very transient.
It's probably best suited to a one night stopover whilst commuting on the M5 or for a specific visit to Cheltenham.

We stayed here for one night on the way back up from Devon to break up the journey as it was handy for the M5. Exactly what you expect from the CC which are spotless facilities and superb service from the wardens. But what a bizarre 'campsite' - it is literally a large patch of flat tarmac where on racedays the punters stand, place their bets and watch the race! We pitched in front of the Desert Orchid stand. There are some grass pitches if you are staying longer decide to pitch the awning. No playground or anywhre for the kids but 10 mins stroll to a good park, or a further 10 min stroll into Cheltenham town centre. Very nice off-the-lead dog walk around the entire circumference of the course takes about an hour. No local pub unfortuantely

The directions to get to the site were great and really reliable. The site itself doesn't look like the typical pretty, green sites of the Caravan Club as it is mostly on hard standing and actually on the race ground but once the surprise of the unusual site has sunk in you realise what a stunning location it is.
We parked up right on the fence of the racecourse itself and spent our first evening side by side with a glass of wine enjoying the view right over the race course up to the mountains as the sun set, it was stunning.
The staff were friendly and welcoming, the facilities were good and very clean and the wifi was excellent. The Everyman Theatre and Town Centre were only 1. 7 miles and a 6 minute drive away, so an easy bike ride or walk away.
It was possible to walk right around the outside of the racecourse so a perfect walk for the dogs and we enjoyed a very good evening meal at The Corner Cupboard, Winchcombe which allowed dogs in some of the eating areas. We would love to revisit this site.

To Find Site:- From the centre of Cheltenham follow signs for Racecourse on the A435 Evesham Road. At large roundabout take third exit into racecourse complex. Turn right past Centaur building and following road round to site, this part is signed by CC site signs. (Best to avoid sat nav instructions from roundabout)
This site, which is also open to non-members, is situated within the Cheltenham Racecourse complex. In total there are 76 pitches of which 50 are on mainly tarmac hardstanding which are, of course, non- awning pitches. There are a dozen or so grass pitches where awnings can be used. The whole site slopes down towards the actual racecourse so some sort of levelling will be required on virtually all pitches, not just fore and aft but also side to side in some cases. Worth pointing out that some racecourse sites and this one in particular have pitches dotted around racecourse structures like grandstands. The toilet/shower block is next to reception. Whilst kept perfectly clean and functional they don’t quite match the best the Club have to offer on their main sites. Having said that one major plus is the large shower cubicles with detachable shower heads. The laundry and dishwash facilities are housed in the grandstand building in the middle of the site. Because of the dual use of the site water points are fitted in where they can so from some pitches they can be quite a walk. Likewise the only chemical disposal point is a long walk from the furthest pitches. The motorhome waste water emptying point is near to reception requires a heavy drain to be lifted although it does have a small flap if you can pinpoint your motorhome with pinpoint accuracy or employ a length of hose! Again electric points positioning also takes into account the dual use of the site and in some cases a longer cable may be required. They are rated at 16 amps and use CEE17 blue connectors. There are no play facilities for children. There is also no official Club WiFi but you can make use of the Jockey Club connection for free although I found it a bit hit and miss but there is no charge so you can’t really complain! Alternatively mobile reception seems to be quite good so anyone with a data allowance could use their phone as a mobile WiFi point. In the reception building there is a small information desk.
This is a very good site for those that prefer not to use their own transport for excursions. There is a Park and Ride facility just outside the campsite with frequent buses into Cheltenham. Bus passes are accepted. There are more bus options from the centre of the town. The fit may wish to walk the mile or so into the town centre, perhaps stopping en route to look at the Pump house in Pittville Park. Cheltenham has a very good shopping area with an excellent choice of cafes and eating places. For food shopping the town has a selection of larger supermarkets. For steam railway enthusiasts the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway has a station on the other side of the racecourse complex. Timetables available from reception. It is possible to walk around the perimeter of the racecourse which is probably 2/3 miles although you are not allowed on the actual racecourse.

Stayed here with partner and friend whilst attending Wycheood festival in 2015.
Very friendly and helpful wardens.
Facilities are ok without being fantastic - kept clean which is what you'd expect.
Site is a tarmac paddock surrounding a stand that overlooks the racecourse, cannot say much more about the site. Location for the festival though is perfect - close enough for convenience and far enough away to not be encroached if you want some quiet time!
Had a few drinks in Cheltenham on Friday - if you like ale seek out Sandford Park Alehouse - an ale drinkers paradise.

We stopped two nights very nice views, clean if dated shower block, very sloping so bring some blocks, it is well situated for town, I would stop again but NOT on grass, people walk dogs on any empty pitch so the smell of dogs pee and other things was very strong, so yes I did like site but not dog smell and yes I am a dog owner but don't take with me, the wardens wife was very nice lady

Firstly can I say I can see why people call this a marmite site due to the amount of tarmac pitches but we used grass pitch so will review our holiday as such. Stayed here for last 2 weeks of July and really enjoyed our stay. We were lucky in our pitch choice and had an uninterrupted view of the whole racecourse. Facilities were excellent and always spotless. The wardens were superb, always smiling, friendly and helpful, a credit to the club. CDP was nice and discreet, showers were really good though am not sure about the dirty water from cubicle 1 running through cubicle 2 to the drain. Water points were plentifully and rubbish disposal fine. To clear up for dog walkers there is no dogwalk on site as such but there is a lovely 2. 5 mile walk round the outside of the course. For those wanting a shorter walk if you go down the stony carpark round the back of the caravans there is a small amount of grass. Go down the path another couple of minutes and there is a much larger expanse of grass and a small stream for the water lovers. Go down to the bottom of the course and there is a HUGE expanse of grass. The site is not child friendly as there are no facilities though Cheltenham centre has many parks, the nearest is at the side of Pitville pump rooms just down the road to Cheltenham. If you have the chance a must is a visit to Cleeve Hill, accessible to none walkers by car but is better to someone with moderate walking capabilities. The building noise that has affected others has almost gone now, we only heard anything as background noise and most of the time did not notice it, and I am noise sensitive. The site was almost deserted by 9 PM which makes the nights very peaceful. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back

Spent the weekend whilst attending the Wychwood festival. The site was perfect for this! Wardens extremely helpful and friendly. Facilities were clean and there were plenty of them. Location was ideal for the festival. Views were excellent. And the Boomtown Rats on the Sunday night were incredible - Geldof cannot sing a note but what a performer. Charisma by the truck load and he absolutely captivated the crowd.
Fabulous weekend ably assisted by a great if functional site.

My family and I have stayed here on two occasions. On each occasion we have stayed on the tarmac at the back of the site which is not the best view (car park) and is on a slope so is difficult to get level. However the facilities are always spotless and there are lots of toilets and plenty of hot water. Be warned it's not ideal for children on site as there are no ball sports and no play equipment/park areas. It is in a super location in terms of being right next to the Conference Centre where we were going for a Christian Convention and right on the outskirts of Cheltenham with a brisk downhill walk into town (15/20 mins). We will be staying here again!

Just returned from an overnight stay at this site, which we booked at extremely short notice - whilst travelling home on the M5! We were greeted by extremely friendly and helpful wardens who thankfully could accommodate us and gave superb directions from Junction 11. We didn't find this route difficult - maybe a little tight as you turn at the railway crossing but nothing too bad - certainly not if you've been to Devon!
The site is as you would expect for a racecourse - yep, lots of hardstanding and with the look of a car park. The views out over the racecourse more than make up for that though, and as other reviews state, the majority of pitches do slope quite dramatically - particularly the one I chose, as I wanted that view! The grass pitches are quite nice though. The site has a very relaxed feel to it even though lots of people use it as a stopover.
The facilities block must have had a re-vamp since some of the previous reviews, as the ladies in particular were very impressive. Lovely large, modern cubicles with a detachable shower head. Luxury! And very clean and powerful too! The mens were not so modern but still the same standard of cleanliness as we expect from CC sites.
We didn't make it into Cheltenham as were only there for the one night; however we did walk into the village (about 1/2 mile walk using the perimeter of the site) and had a meal at the Plough - lovely beer garden. There are 3 pubs in total in the village, all serving food. There is also a public footpath around the perimeter of the whole racecourse (approx 3 miles), which we did on the Sunday morning, ending with a walk through the weekly car boot - which is huge - if car boots are your thing.
I don't know that I would necessarily take children here though, as yes, there appears to be lots of space; however no-one is allowed on the racecourse itself and as its generally a stopover site, there is a fair bit of 'traffic'.
All in all we had a lovely, if unexpected, stay here and look forward to a return visit.
