A return visit, we like this site and the area. Normal CC site, immaculate (overheated) toilet block and facilities, wardens were very friendly/helpful. Of course you have the usual CC plethora of notices/rules, plus a few from the Racecourse people, but we can cope with that. Take rock anchors for tent/awning, soil is thin in places. Plenty of dog-walking on or from the site is a plus.
You can hear the A38, but not bad enough to disturb my sleep- unlike the illegal Rave a mile away in the forest all saturday night (apparently 2nd time this year).
The service station over A38 from racecourse has a good convenience store attached, nearest supermarkets are in Exeter.
Only licensed premises within walking distance looked uninviting & had a big sign saying we were not welcome- so cannot comment on them. You have to drive a couple of miles and stay legal for a proper pub. Fortunately the Ley Arms at Kenn or Highwaymans Haunt at Chudleigh are really good (and dog-friendly)

Only stayed for one night on our way to cornwall. A very well maintained site in the middle of the racecourse. The toilet block was clean. Cant comment on the showers as I didn't use them. There is a security barrier and felt safe enough to leave chairs etc outside the van. The warden was friendly and booking in was easy given all the information we needed. Would use again.

Very good distance stopover on-route from Manchester to St Austell, during bank holiday week.
Very easy access off and onto A38.
The racecourse is poorly sign posted, and is approx 3/4 way UP the big hill just after the A380 to Torquay.
We arrived 2 hours late after booking on the Caravan Clubs easybook system, the cost I think was £19. 00 for one night stopover, but the nice warden who lives in van adjacent reception let us in and park wherever we liked.
Its within 8 miles of all Exeters eateries and nightlife, Sainsburys McDonalds and fuel about 5miles, at Marsh Barton.
There is now a code locked gate at the entrance for additional security, and an overnight late arrival area to the left of the security gate just before the race track, Of which the caravan site is situated in the middle off.
Its a very lonely looking site, like most CC sites I have visited, This is probably because of the windy open countryside around and not many vans on site.
The toilets were very clean, just tired looking, I did not notice a playground but it was dark by time we had pitched up been out to eat and refuel.

Stayed at this site for a week at the beginning of June. Fantastic welcome from the Wardens Gary and Sarah, so friendly and nice. The site itself is right in the middle of the racecourse with lovely views of the surrounding woodlands. You can walk around the whole race track as there's a tarmac road, I think it's about two miles long, it's a gem of a site for dog owners. The small toilet block is a bit dated but always kept extremely clean. There are two areas to pitch in, one is bordered by trees and has stacks of space, the other is on the main part of the site nearer to the facilities with those views.
There is a diner just a five minute walk away that gives free tea and coffee if you're staying on site, nice staff and a lovely full English.
There's so much to do in the local area we think this site is an ideal base to visit south Devon.

Stopped for a couple of nights on route to Cornwall. Easy access from A38 but very short slip road joining A38 westbound when you leave so be prepared.
A very open site with nice views across countryside but can be windy.
Toilets old and cramped but kept clean.
Makes ideal stopover when going to and from Cornwall

This is a wonderful campsite, which is set in some lovely surroundings.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
The showers and toilets were up to date and very clean at all times.
We were lucky enough to watch a lovely sunset over the wooded area while our children played on the grass.
The site is near Exeter which is a Lovely City to visit with lots going on and a visit to the quay is a must, lots of lovely pubs, restaurants and things for children to do.
Or you have Haldon Forest right next to the campsite, this has a bike trail, some lovely walks from easy to the more adventurous, and there is a little sanded play area for the children to play in while you enjoy a coffee or food after.
All in all an enjoyable experience.

We have used this site twice now as a one night stopover en route to Cornwall.
It is very easy to find and it is a bit of a novelty being pitched next to a racecourse track!
The staff are very friendly and gave us a large pitch so that I did not have to unhitch the caravan - very thoughtful.
The site is quite exposed but that gives some good views of the surrounding countryside. There is lots of space to walk dogs or for the kids to boot a ball around.
The toilet block was very clean as you would expect from the CC.
We will be back next year!

I am sorry to report that this site has caused a right rift in this household.
The not so good bits then
For a caravan club site we were expecting better. The water pressure in the showers is poor and no where near as good as it should be.
There is very little in the way of security on site other than some old looking CCTV and when you see what is 1/2 a mile down the road you would be expecting better security. Twice watched cars come in for a drive around.
Road noise can be loud at times and the occasional twin rotor helicopter in the evening is quite a breeze.
Good stuff then
Wardens are pleasant and welcoming, apart from the noise of the road it is quite well placed for going either north or south onto the dual carriageway
Summary then
Not for one of us unless the CC invests in this site which it needs and it would be brilliant like Yarmouth is
Its a pity as the wardens are brill and its location is excellent for exploring the area

Site has good access and easy to pitch up. Can be very windswept.
Toilets clean and warm, but showers did not have a lot of power.
The main part of the site is next to the wardens hut, but there is another part off to the left in the trees which is more secluded.
There is a Spar shop, which you can walk to on the other side of the A38 next to the BP fuel station.
It is disappointing that this site is not open all year as I am sure it would be well used.
The main downside of the site where the Wardens who were very unfriendly and somewhat offhand.
A total contrast to most CL's.

Disappointing site, booked through the caravan club site. Arrived late Friday and got put in a field away from main facilities. The pitches were un-level and we found it difficult to level the caravan. The water supply and disposal was close by, but the toilet block was a far distance in the other field. It rained over night and the trip in the morning to the toilet block was through mud and puddles.
During the night the car park must of been used by boy racers for an hour keeping us awake at 1:00am for an hour.
Good for stopping over night on way down south.
Overall very disappointing site for the the expensive caravan club.
