Another visit to this site - and it never disappoints!

Stunning location, great walking abd excellent food and drink at nearby hotels. Easy access to upper Derwent and Derwentwater for a canoe paddle. ,

Lots of wildlife, including deer, roam around near the sire.

Lovely peaceful site in the woods. Reminds me of a smaller version of Park Coppice at Coniston as it's so wooded which I know some people don't like. I don't mind it, plenty of birds to see and even a red squirrel! No views of Derwent water from any of the pitches, not even the 'lakeside' ones due to the trees.

The pitches up 'the avenue' seemed a bit better spaced out than the pitches nearer the lake. No facilities apart from ehu and tv booster points. Water supplies dotted around as well as waste emptying points. No phone reception or wifi. No play park for kids which for me is a bonus! I'm sure kids would have fun playing in the woods though.

Warden was friendly and helpful. Sounds like there's a fairly frequent bus service from outside the gate but I didn't use it. Plenty of walks to do from the caravan site.

About a 15 min drive to Keswick for shops. The site does have a small shop which sells bread, milk, loo roll, sausages, crisps, that sort of thing.

This is a favourite site for us - you can take the canoes and carry them the short walk to the lake. Fantastic base for the fells - Cat Bells and Castle Crag are easy Wainwrights from the site but there is access to much more challenging days in the high fells! Brilliant site.

Great location if you like walking. Very close to the trail around Derwent Water, perfect for walking around or boating up the lake. Lack of toilets only a minor problem, and staff were really friendly. Access is a bit tricky -it's not just the section with the hump-back bridge, it's the whole road down the lakeside. When towing, there's loads of places where your van wheels are out on or over the white line, I wouldn't want to meet another van coming the other way.

Two night stay. Everything great. Even the weather was perfect

Can't wait to return.

Staff on site could not be more helpful in everyway.

Loads of space between pitches so loads of privacy. But everyone so friendly.

Had a bit of a problem connecting up my electric. Explained at reception 30 seconds later problem solved.

Thanks

We come to this site regularly and it never disappoints. Great location and excellent wardens.

The local area is stunning and it makes a great base for exploring Borrowdale, which is one of the best areas in the Lakes.

Great value for money, but be aware that you need your own sanitation.

Looking forward to another visit soon!

Just returned from 4 nights at this lovely site in Borrowdale. Lovely welcome from the wardens who, after politely asking about our children, suggested which pitches would be the most suitable. Their friendly and helpful manner continued for the whole of our break.

The site is very secluded and quiet, a short walk out of the village of Grange and only a few minutes from the lakeside. While the drive through Grange is a bit of a leap of faith with a caravan (single lane double humpback bridge!) it's a very short bit of road and should not put people off.

As other reviewers have said this site has no toilet block, which may mean it has availability when others are full, and would maybe benefit from a few more service points. It also has no play area although with a little imagination you can find lots to explore on the site and in the surrounding area.

The site is in a small wooded area so most pitches are always in shade and you get that extra tapping on the roof when it rains (it is the Lake District so this is likely) however they are well set out with some small cul-de-sacs which makes it feel like a much smaller site.

Access to Derwentwater and the lakeside paths is superb and the walk to Catbells is practically opposite the site entrance. You can be in Keswick within 15 minutes if you fancy it or over Honister pass if you choose to go in the opposite direction.

We left trying to work out when we can next visit, an excellent site.

Great site in Borrowdale Valley. Great base for the fells and quick access to Derwent Water. Keswick is 5 miles away and the nearest pubs are a 10-15 minute walk.

The site has no toilet or shower facilities so only suitable for motorhomes and caravans. All pitches have EHU and TV hookup.

New wardens on site this year who are very welcoming.

Will be back soon!

 Location:

Stunning setting in National Trust woodland. On the trail for Catbells and 5 minutes to Derwentwater.

Facilities:

All pitches have electricity and TV hook up, but there are no toilets or showers. Pitches are large and nicely spaced through the woodland.

Prices:

Very reasonable - about £17 in high season for 2 people.

This is an excellent site and a brilliant base for enjoying Borrowdale.

It is situated about a mile from Grange and a short walk to Derwentwater, Lodore Falls and Cat Bells. A bus passes the site for easy access to Honistet, Buttermere and Keswick. The Mary Mount hotel has a good bar and is a 5-10 minute walk.

Facilities on site are good, with electricity and TV points, but there are no toilet or shower facilities.

A great spot!
