A mast has been built nearby and there is now a strong mobile signal. TV is still from the bollards. If you are a sun lover then check that your pitch will not be in deep shade for part of the day: the trees round the 2 outer fields are large and mature.
A friendly, peaceful site with plenty of space. All pitches are grass but, even in wet weather they seemed firm and the wardens confirmed that they had had no motorhomes stuck.
Very convenient for NT Cragside, which has dedicated motorhome parking. All roads to the site are narrow but we did not find this presented any problems if we took it slowly. The site shop, which is open for the same limited hours as Reception, has a few basic items but do not rely on them having milk, bread etc. There are no shops or pubs within reasonable walking distance so go prepared.

Lovely! Quiet and peaceful, beautiful setting and surrounding area. Warden really friendly and helpful -she lent us a TV ariel extension cable when we realised ours wasn't long enough! Idyllic setting means that phones, wifi, etc won't work. However. EHU post includes TV ariel connector which provides good signal so park near or take an extension cable with you! Rothby is nice and the butcher's bacon and sausage is a must. Although no toilet/shower block, other services were excellent and a bargain at £12. 50 a night. We would definitely stay again if visiting the area.

Pros:
Incredibly quiet site tucked away in deepest Northumberland.
Lovely warden, very helpful and knowledgeable.
Well kept site with immaculate grass, loads of flowers and even herbs growing with an invitation to use them for cooking.
No toilet block but ample service points (non specifically for motorhomes but the warden has made a clever gadget for emptying waste from wide bore systems)
Cons:
Narrow, difficult roads on approach
Nowhere to walk dogs off lead - the dog walk is on someone else's property and the signs insist that they are kept on lead at all times. If you have an active dog that needs to run then this site really isn't for you.
Lack of any kind of mobile signal or wifi - this might be an advantage for some but not if you need to be contactable.
No playground or area for children to play away from the pitches. There was only one family there when we stayed and the only noise you could hear were the children (just being kids). I think the family were a bit embarrassed.
My general feeling is that this site is mostly for caravans as you really need a car to go to anywhere interesting. Yes you can use the motorhome to get around but the roads are a bit stressful.
Very good value for money at £12. 50 per night for members.

Large Site in three areas, all grass Pitches with no toilet block. Good value at only £12 per night including EHU.
No great walking direct from the Site. The Site well situated for visiting NT Cragside and Wallington and Rothbury is very nice also.
Lovely quiet Site if you want a peaceful holiday and enjoy watching the many birds on Site.

Booked 3 nights on site after an horrendous time at another site where we ended up leaving. The wardens are very friendly and the site is lovely.
It's in a wonderful part of Northumberland and a great base to explore the area. We joined the National trust as Cragside and Wallington are within driving distance and a must to visit.
The site is very quiet so if its peace and quiet you want then it will suit you. Theres no toilets but that didn't bother us as we had our own. There is a Chippy van that comes on site on Fridays and seemed popular. You can buy basics from the shop on site.
Make sure you fill your tank up as petrol stations are few and far between in this area so do your research before you go! Rothbury is a small village and worth a visit and we also drove to Alnwick, the Hogwarts castle was fab!
We had a very enjoyable stay at this site and would recommend it, we have small children and there were lots there over the bank hol weekend they loved riding their bikes as it was safe and not busy.

Arrived on site late and just found a pitch and paid the next morning. Good value site but there are only very basic facilities. Took the children who found the site a little quiet as there appeared to be no other children.
Has a little shop that sells milk, gas but not a lot else.
Rothbury is about 5 miles to the north and has some good basic shops. Visited Cragside and Wallington Hall, both of which are owned by the National Trust.
A good basic and quiet site.

What a gem this site proved to be. No facilities but with the wonderful scenery surrounding us, who cared. Deer can be spotted from your unit, birds are plentiful and there are lots of feeders around the site.
The wardens are very helpful and love the area and are very knowledgeable. Phone reception and internet connections were not possible but phones worked once you drove out of the area up the hill.
Rothbury was good for food shopping and had most things people would need for their stay. The surrounding moors were breathtaking

As said in other reports this is a lovely quiet, no facilities site in a great location. TV boosters are available, but if you haven't already got one you need to buy an aerial lead from the site shop for £12.50. We didn't, but still got a signal, at least on analogue.
The pitches are all more or less level grass and are set along a river valley, which I believe can flood or get soggy in heavy rain. However, we were there in superb hot sunny weather and the ground was totally firm.
We are not doggy people but noticed what a high percentage of fellow caravanners had dogs, sometimes several. All dogs and owners seemed pretty well behaved with virtually no barking (not even by the dogs!) and no evident dog mess.
I would think many children would find the site a bit boring as there is no play equipment or area. The few children who were there at the weekend seemed content to just ride around on their bikes, which was fine.
Rothbury is a very pleasant small market town with what boasts to be the best butchers shop in the UK - as wannabe veggies we didn't sample the fare, but it looked good, especially the sausages. There is also a Co-op mini supermarket and a Boots, so most needs should be taken care of. I didn't come across a fuel service station (but there may be one) so it's a good idea to arrive with a fairly full fuel tank. The service station on the A696 where you turn off towards Nunnykirk is the most expensive I have ever seen, even on motorways!
A visit to Cragside near Rothbury is a must. It is the best NT property we have visited, with a fascinating house and huge grounds. The drive around the grounds is six miles with numerous pretty stop off points, including the Labyrinth. Beware - don't let your small kids in there alone (unless you don't want to see them again!). I thought my sense of direction was pretty good until.

This is one of our favourite sites. It is quiet and peaceful and set in lovely surroundings.
The site is divided into three distinct areas separated by the stream / river that flows through the site. There are no facilities (toilets etc.) on the site or within walking distance - the nearest town in Rothbury, about 6 miles away. Pitches have hookups and are all grass. The office sells some essentials along with a small selection of sweets and ice creams. It also sells maps of the area.
Rothbury has pubs, shops and a couple of take-aways. There is a pub about a mile from the site that holds regular barbeque events etc, but cannot comment on it because we haven't been!
There is a lot of wildlife on and around this site. The dog-walking area runs through woodland adjacent to the site and is privately-owned. We have seen red squirrels in these woods previously, and on this visit saw a deer only a few yards from us.
This is a good location for those who enjoy walking as there are many walks in the area and the nearby Simonside hills.
We look forward to returning to this site for a fix of 'peace and quiet'.
