I’m currently on night 5 of 6 at Nunnykirk. I can honestly say that I’ve never stayed at such a friendly site. Not sure if it’s something to do with there being such a lot of seasonal pitches but everyone says hello as they pass, stops to have a chat and shares ideas of where to go etc.
The wardens on site are holding the fort for the regular ones for a few days, they were very welcoming on arrival and wave as you pass.
No shower block on site, plenty of service points for water and waste disposal. All grass pitches in 3 separate fields.
There is an excellent dog walk along a permissive path to a very sad looking former school, Nunnykirk House, which is a bit spooky of an evening and makes you walk a bit quicker!
Lovely quiet setting next to a small river. In the middle of nowhere but off a decent road to get you places.
Been to Amble, Blyth beach (excellent for dogs and free parking) and Tynemouth priory, Corbridge Roman town and Chesters Fort, up the coast to Seahouses and Bamburgh across to Ford and Etal Estate, which has a small train, heavy horse museum, working flour mill, museum, coffee shops and free parking. Beautiful scenery.
Lovely place, will definitely be coming back.

A large grassy site with minimal facilities. EHU, water and waste only, no shower block.
Excellent base for Northumberland NP, as well as Rothbury and Alnwick.
It’s in an isolated spot, so a car is useful here.

We’ve stayed at this site a few times.
Lovely, quiet location.
No toilet or showers, but good hook ups and big pitches.
Handy for Cragside, Morpeth, Rothbury and the Simonside Hills.

Immaculate site, surrounded by big trees. Needs TV hook up (available) or satellite.
Not great for my dogs as no where to let them off leads so not really ideal for me.
The Northumberland countryside is beautiful and (I'm told!) ideal for walkers bikers and bird watchers.
Nice site, friendly people, immaculate and clean, just not for me.

Just spent 4 nights here whilst storms battered the UK, branches & 1 tree down ( being dealt with by NT Rangers as we approached Scots Gap) on the approach roads after leaving A696, site didn't look too bad - pitches dry & no flood alert in place for river running thro. Wardens were very friendly. We stayed on site, only leaving on Saturday to go to Elddis open day - no joy/ deal there. The dog walk is roughly 1 mile long - going upto Nunnykirk House, please comply with requests regarding keeping your dog on lead & clearing up otherwise this facility will be lost, Fontburn Reservoir has a superb children's Adventure area with zip wire ( left on Res. Wall )- plus a good 2 hours walk round on the Waterside Trail - one of the field waymarkers is down in the fields left of the farm - head down slope to the corner of a wood. Hopefully we will get back next year

Not much to add to the previous review. No hardstandings but grass is pretty firm. Wardens do mark some pitches as being better if weather wet. Very friendly welcome. Having no toilet block means this is a £14 per night site (£15 in 2019) and that price applies to Bank Holidays. Rothbury, nearest town is well stocked with independent shops and cafes. It stages a food and craft fair in May Day bank holiday Monday. Further afield is Morpeth which is much larger, lots of shops but parking difficult with disc system operating (obtainable for £1 from lots of shops). Alnwick with its castle is a popular destination and also has plenty of shops and cafes.

We've used this site a few times and love it. It's in a very remote spot, but there are lovely walks from the site. Rothbury and the Simonside Hills are about 10-15 minutes drive.
Very quiet site with minimal facilities.
Will certainly return.

A lovely, peaceful site surrounded by mature trees. Tv reception poor but our cable attached to the electricity supply board did the job. Good mobile signal and 4G. All pitches are grass but there was no problem after rain. Wardens very helpful and friendly and went beyond the call of duty helping us out with our very old dog. Would be very happy to go back in the future. Nearest town with shops is Rothbury 10-15 mins away. We like the fact there is no toilet or shower block but some may not.

Location
This is a nice quiet site a few miles from Rothbury. A brilliant place to get away from it all. Excellent walking nearby.
Facilities
There are no showers or toilets but pitches have EHU and TV hook up. Grassy pitches which could be problematic in wet weather.
Great site!
