We booked this site for it's location. The wardens were very friendly and helpful. The site is located within the actual racecourse and on one of the days we stayed a race meeting took place which our children found great. They also hold various venues there from antique fairs to whatever is on, better to check before booking what is on. The location it's self is in a great area and easy to find. From there we ventured places like monkey world, where else would you walk amomst monkeys, our youngest to oldest loved it. The sites toilets and showers were basic but the sites fees were cheap. Would I stay there again then the answer is yes.

Stayed here for 2 weeks. Lovely site, well positioned to the town and train station. Level site with all grass pitches, easy to put caravan on pitch. Toilets adequate but dated. We were lucky to get a pitch on the rails and watched the first meeting from the back of our van and the 2nd on course. , you get a £5 discount on centre course and a £10 from on course tickets. Both static and cover wardens were very friendly and helpful. Quite a good play area for the kids and a cricket field to the side so plenty too do.
2 negative were first, being on the rails when the course is watered it can come over on to the pitches. Clerk of the course came down to chat after I mentioned it to the course and said that people will be made aware of the possibility of getting wet as it is river water that is used. The 2nd and more disconcerting was the Bus Stopover Tour festival on the 1st weekend and the food show event on the 2nd weekend. The first weekend was extremely busy, over a 1000 units at a guess, using the same entrance road ad the club site. It also brought lots of noise, we were kept awake until after 1 AM both nights with the music. Considering there was a tribute band on after racing on the 1st Thursday that we could not hear it must have been loud. Accept that the course has to bring in revenue but consideration should be given to others who are also paying and an 11 o'clock quieten down, 12 o'clock cut off would have been much appreciated. So if you like a quieter life check what is on. Will definitely go back but would check more carefully events next time.

We've stayed here before, as it's a very convenient stopover for us. It's a very basic, quiet site, with all grass pitches. Late arrivals should be warned, however: the toilet and shower block is only accessible by key, and the wardens aren't around in the evening. If you miss them, there's no possibility of getting a key until the office opens again at 9am. Having spent a shower-free weekend at Donington Park, we were looking forward to decent hot showers, but it wasn't to be.

Stayed over bank holiday weekend. Easy to find with good entrance. Choice of pitch makes a change to be all grass. Some 10amp hook ups and some 16amp, both same price of course.
Agree with other reviews about toilet block, cold dated and very tired, poor floor in ladies showers so watch where your stand, site open until November wouldn't want to use toilet block then. 2 lots of water points both by main building, needs more. Busy on Sunday while racing on. Quieter sooner than we expected once racing was over. Warden came over to remind us to go, did he think we had forgotten ?
Not a bad price.

We stayed at this site for a week at the end of May for the Acoustic Festival. A lovely position and the weather was hot and sunny making it an ideal festival week.
Unfortunately the toilet shower block is very dated and run down. Only found one of the showers kept an even temperature. Site managers did their best at keeping the facilities clean but because of their age and general state the people staying on the site did not seem to bother to respect them (sorry the facilities age etc not the site managers who by the way were very friendly to us )

Not a lot to add as I agree with everything others have said. We have been six times and love the fact mid week last minute bookings are not a problem.
It is not that popular with children as there is not a lot to do and the town is a fair walk away which could be shorter if you could get through the Railway Station ( We climbed over the wall) We are members of the Caravan Club as having a trailer tent we need the luxury of a proper shower and toilet block and they never fail us.
It is one of the few sites that has grass only pitches this also suits as the sites we have been to with hard standing have been a bit of a nightmare with the pegs.
We once went when there was a race day which was really good as the track goes right around you ( you can't get on or off whilst the races are on) we felt like Red Indians surrounded by Cowboys.
Thoroughly recommend the site. It's also not that far to Alton Towers.

Stayed for three nights, lovely quiet, clean site. (we were not there on race days) Papers could be ordered, did not notice if they sold anything else, although saw ice cream sign. 10 to 15 minutes walk into town, most shops to meet needs. A very small market on Wednesday and small bus station and a Wetherspoon's, love their coffee and OH the beer.
It was a pity the railway access only open on race days, nearest bus stop next to station which is along side the racecourse and trains to Crewe and Leek and stations in between. OH can not walk far, we use transport on all holidays, we caught the bus to Cheadle not a lot there but a lovely coffee shop, they go to quite a few nice spots Ashbourne, Burton on Trent and Leek.
Toilet block clean, showers good, 2 privacy cubicles in Ladies and plenty of hand basins. Had to wait for hot water to get through but was plentiful and fresh flowers lovely thought. Veg prep, wash up, and laundry all in one inside room, great. Did not see a child play area but plenty of space to run. Visited once before will go back again. Wardens helpful and pleasant.

A gem of a site, so peaceful and laid back. All pitches are grass, dry when we were there but could be a problem in the wet. As stated the facilities are basic, as all racecourse sites are,but are spotless.
The site is very busy on race days but it adds to the atmosphere of your stay. The town of Uttoxeter is a short stroll away and is very pleasant and well served for supermarkets, pubs, hotels and food outlets.
There is a bus and rail station within easy walking distance of the site. There is plenty of space to walk dogs on a lead, the whole racecourse in fact.
The wardens are very pleasant and patient and work hard to maintain the high standard of the site. Site fees very reasonable. Enjoyed our visit and shall return again very soon.

To Find Site:- At Uttoxeter on the A50 turn left onto A518 and follow signs to Racecourse. (do not follow signs to race day car parks) Still following the signs turn into Wood Lane and drive past two racecourse entrances and the site is third on the left.
Uttoxeter Racecourse campsite takes up a corner of the racecourse right along side the track. There are 76 pitches, all of which are on grass, laid out around gravel roads. Although the area taken up by the site is not large you do have access to the 60 acres of the racecourse on non race days. This included a nice adventure style playground for the children and of course as much kick about space as they need.
The toilet facilities will not win any awards but as the wardens said on arrival they are adequate! They were perhaps a bit more than that but of course they are not owned by the Caravan Club. The disabled toilet is in its own portable cabin.
In the ‘Utility Room’ is the dish wash area and washing machines, it also houses information on the surrounding areas. The Club do not provide WiFi at this site but I have heard, although did not try myself, that the Racecourse has a WiFi system which operates on race days.
For Mobile Broadband users my Vodafone dongle worked well with a good 3G signal. The only water and waste facilities are situated at the toilet block so it’s a long walk from the furthest part of the site. Tent campers and non members accepted.
Newspapers can be ordered from reception and they also sell things such as milk and ice cream. No arrivals are accepted on Race days and other vehicle access is restricted as access requires you to cross the race track.
Reception will issue race day tickets so that you can get back into the site prior to start of racing. As a bonus this site, particularly with the mid week discount, cost less than £10 a night during our stay in early July.
The site is only a short walk from the pleasant town of Uttoxeter which has a good range of shops. From the rail station you can take a train to Stoke on Trent in one direction and Derby in the other. There is a Tesco supermarket within half a mile of the campsite. There are lots of opportunities for days out from the site including Alton Towers.
In the Stoke on Trent area there are several museums and visitor centres associated with the pottery industry including the Wedgwood Visitors Centre and Wedgwood Museum, The Gladstone Pottery Museum and of course Trentham Gardens.

This is a typical racecourse site. The facilities were adequate but clean and serviceable. I have stayed on this site a few times before, but never on a race day. This time I went for an evening race meeting. A most enjoyable experience.
Race tickets and race card are available from the wardens in advance. All the pitches are grass, so beware if it is very wet or you may get that sinking feeling.
It is only a short walk into town where there are plenty of shops, bars, eating places and a Tesco's. Wetherspoons is good if you don't feel like cooking. Plenty of take aways too.
