This site is right by the race course so on racedays you can virtually watch the racing from your pitch. The pitches are all grass and the facilities are clean though not the normal club standard, the floor gets very wet and slippery under foot.
There is lots of space to walk the dog but it is on the lead only, contrary to what it says in the club book you can not let them off anywhere around the race track.
It was ok for a couple of days and going to the races but we didn't find much to do in the area.
The site has a rally feel about it, people walk all over your pitch because there are no real boundary's, oKkif you were in a group.
Piece of advice, don't turn up early.
There is no specific time stipulated in the book for this site they tell you in no uncertain terms to go away and come back at twelve. I even offered to pay for the previous night but was told it wasn't about money, the 'system won't accept it. Needless to say as it was bank holiday and there was a queue of 15 to 20 units at the entrance to the racecourse, three a breast backing out on to the narrow lane. Even though the site has 76 pitches, only 14 were filled.

A fantastic site!
The location is great, especially on race days when you can get up close to the action at no extra cost, and enjoy a flutter. On every other day it is a peaceful haven, in close proximity to a range of local attractions.
Uttoxeter is walking distance with tesco and lidl, but I'd highly recommend a walk through the town itself, as there are some fantastic little shops (butchers, green grocers etc) which are very reasonably priced.
The on-site facilities are basic, but very clean and warm. The showers are 8.5kw electric units, which do the job, but get a bit weak when there are more than two in use at one time. There is a very good looking play area for younger children just outside the camping field.
We found the wardens to be friendly and welcoming, and it is obvious that they work very hard as the whole site is very well kept. The site office sells basics, and wasn't too expensive either in my opinion (2 pints of milk for £1).
TV reception here is poor, and a good aerial is needed if you want to guarantee any signal at all.

Basic site but clean and well maintained. Right in the middle of the racecourse! The drive in is a bit of a bone-shaker (pot holes galore), but roads within the site are good and clearly mapped out.
The dog walk areas need a little rethinking as it is very easy for the dogs to stray onto the racecourse - but Angus McTavish (our west highland white) really enjoyed romping around.
The little town of uttoxeter is well worth a visit.
The wardens were lovely!

Stayed here for 4 nights at the end of August. Chose this site for it's proximity to Alton Towers and because Club Sites are usually a high standard.
Not the best start to the visit as the warden was a little abrupt to my husband regarding our booking as I had booked on line for 2 nights initially and then decided to extend our stay. You can't edit your booking so I had booked a further 2 nights on a separate booking. The warden was rolling her eyes to my friend who booked in after us not realising that we had travelled together. She also asked us to stay off the grass as much as we could. Quite a difficult request on a grass pitch in the middle of a racecourse with 6 children between 2 families. Toilet block was okay, in definite need of an uplift, not usual Caravan Club standard. But I have to say was spotlessly clean. There were a number of toilets with out of order signs up. The grass was too long and in need of a cut but the worst thing were the pot holes in the road around the pitches, was like a chicane getting around them all. A shame really as it wouldn't take much to fill them in. Small children's park on site, but one of the climbing frames was all taped up with stay off type signs, which other people's children just took off and climbed on anyway - a bit of a concern. If the climbing frame was unsafe it needed boarding up properly or taking down. Would I return? For the proximity to Alton Towers (about 9 miles away) maybe, but not for the site itself.

We decided to stay here because the weather looked good for the area at the time. We were welcomed by two friendly wardens told to find a spot and come back with pitch number and collect the toilet key.
The racecourse advertises that there are 60 acres of land for free running for dogs on the land. But 60 acres really isn't that big and I would say a third of that we couldn't go on because it was the race track. The barrier around the course does not stop your active dog from running onto the course
I suppose if you had a dog that tottered around or was obsessed with chasing balls, it would fit the bill.
Toilets and shower blocks were adequate, but need updating. There were notices up to check the temperature of the water in the shower, because of pressure dropping I chose to take a shower in the early morning when it was less busy.
No hairdryers, but there were power points in the ladies to use your own hairdryer.
A few private wash cubicles were available. Also a baby changing unit and sink. Everything was fairly clean, but it did need updating. Quiet a few toilets and showers had notices up, closed for repair.
A disabled toilet/shower room was available, which was a Portacabin, you had to ask for the key to use it. There were a couple of fresh water taps to fill barrels.
The emptying point for waste water was two bricks high, so you had to hoist the wastemaster up to empty it. Just glad my OH volunteered to do that job. I didn't see any points to empty the toilet.
A laundry room had a few washing machines and a washing up sink. This also doubled up as a information room.
You could buy gas and a few essentials from the wardens office. We were also asked if we wanted to order the morning papers.
There was a small play area with climbing frames for the kids, but some of the ground was waterlogged.
Also a small picnic area with tables.
The racecourse is also used for private functions and the locals use the fields to walk their dogs.
Satellite TV has good reception
The main circuit road had a few pot holes and people were driving onto the grass to avoid the potholes.
The pitches were of good size, big enough to park the car next to the van and put an awning up, without being too close to the neighbours.
The grass although mown was pretty long and we ended up with a lots of grass cuttings inside the awning and caravan. It was pretty hard to get the van rolling when we tried to hook up to leave, the jockey wheel had sunk into the soft ground.
EHU 10amp and 16amp.
There is a local retail park about 10 minutes walk away. A cinema, pet shop, DIY store, Kentucky fried chicken, Lidl and a 24hour Tescos.
Now the worse bit Friday night we heard loud music, I mean really LOUD this went on till midnight. At first we thought it was a fellow caravanner, but after talking to the warden next day we found it was the local club in town about half a mile away. We had the same disturbance the following night on Saturday. We were also awakened by a drunk in the early hours of Saturday morning. Again the drunk came from the local club.
This is not an area to go walking with the dogs off lead. We were met with no entry signs all around the local reservoir we couldn't even go walking in the woods
I suppose it would be a good place to stop over if you were traveling North to South.

I stayed at this site twice last year and again this year. It's a handy site if you want to break your journey travelling north to south. It's a typical racecourse site, with the bare facilities, but kept clean and tidy. The wardens were friendly and helpful. At the time we were there, a Classic MotorCycle Show was being held on the racecourse, so that was a bonus. I have never stayed here on a race day, but people tell me it's a great experience. Some of the pitches can get quite soft during heavy rainfall and everyone seemed very wary.
It's only a 10 minute walk into town or to the local Tesco. There are plenty of destinations to choose from at the local bus station in the town.
TV reception was good from an aerial.
The local Wetherspoons in Uttoxeter comes in handy for a breakfast if you don't feel like cooking.

The main site looked very nice, although as we had a trailer we were directed to the late arrivals area so that we need not unhook - very helpful. Being right in the centre of the race course, the site is very open and quite exposed, but there is loads of space for dogs and children. Because we arrived after the office was closed, the warden asked us to pay at 9 the next morning - a problem, as we wanted an early start! However, when we explained, he agreed to take our money there and then, so that was alright.
The toilet block and other facilities were not as immaculate as most club sites, but perfectly acceptable and it was quite cheap.

We were here for three nights but found the toilet block needed updating and the showers were fine unless someone else was having a shower and that meant no water! The entrance to the site is over the actual race course and it did get quite bogged down, thankfully on the day we left they had sorted the problem out as we could have been stranded. We found the staff to be most helpful and seemed keen for us to make a return visit. We would return again but only if we were on route to somewhere as the toilets did put us off staying there too long.

Chose Uttoxeter because we had left it late in booking and all local coastal sites full. Best thing we ever did. Twycross Zoo within easy drive and Uttoxeter itself within easy walking distance. Pitches easy to use and wardens very helpful. That good we are going back this Easter to see some of the things we missed last time.

What a lovely location - right in the middle of the Race Course. No racing whilst we were there but understood that you have limited access on race days.
Toilets/shower spotless, pitches level some with 16amp & some with 10amp hookup. Lovely clean site. Very helpful wardens & even though they only had a week to go before the site closed for the season made you feel as welcome as if they had just opened up. Good Childrens outdoor playarea.
Walk into Town - 10 mins, here you have the usual shops including Tescos & Franky 'n' Benny's. Plus bowling & Cinema.
20 mins by Car to Alton Towers, and 30 mins by car to 'The Potteries'.
Great Site - would return
