Visited here for 3 nights as part of our touring holiday of the south west coast. Were looking for a beach site around St Jean de Monts, but were disappointed in what we saw and decided to return to La Yole having previously {10 years ago} holidayed with our children. Site was full and could only offer a choice of 2 pitches. We happily choose a large hedged, electric pitch next to the bar and swimming pool. Suited us well. Close to all amenities, we had a great time. Very clean toilets and showers and pool. Entertainment in bar during the evening was fun. Good choice for families. Merlin plage beautiful and quiet. Lots of local restaurants and a supermarket within walking distance. Wifi available in the bar. Would definitely return in the future.

Spent 2 weeks here at the end of July, top site for young families. My tribe 4yr/2yr and a 4 month old boys! Good size pitches, plenty of showers/toilets all clean. Good size baby washing sinks(don't forget your sink plugs) Pool was ok, could've had more sun shades :(

230 miles from Caen 5hrs with plenty of stops, all toll free!

Site was about 1. 5 miles from the beach, but well worth it, so much sand!

This site is nice and quiet in the evenings so good for little ones, no loud discos/karaoke, some/most of the sites closer to the beach are more geared up for that.

Almost everyone cycles to the beach, kids trailer is a must, can hire them from site shop. Nice cycle tracks through woods into town.

Large Super you and Intermarche 10 min drive away.

Will be returning next summer.

Just back from a camping holiday at La Yole.

We had a great time there and I can recommend it. The facilities were clean and sensibly distributed throughout the site. Toilet roll, soap etc was all provided.

The outdoor pool is a decent size though a bit cold, probably due to the cloudy weather we had for a bit. The indoor pool is heated and provides a warm alternative. NOTE: As others have said, you will not be allowed into the pool with any kind of shorts on. It must be speedo type trunks. This is strictly enforced.

The bar provides food and entertainment, together with the usual pool, air hockey and slot machines.

It has a decently stocked shop, but this was very expensive compared with SuperU 5 mins away. There is also a huge Leclercs hypermarket(and McDonalds) about 6 miles away on the road to Les Sables. I found Leclercs had a much bigger range of everything and it was cheaper.

The pitches are pretty large, you could get two large tents on them and the electrics are standard commando hook-ups. There was also a large playpark for the kids right by our pitch, which the youngest loved.

As we went before the english and french schools break up, the site was quite quiet (a good thing).

At peak times I imagine the bar would get a bit crowded.

There isn't a lot of nightlife around St Jean de monts, so if you are looking for nightclubs etc you would be better with a site nearer Les Sables which has a lot of pubs and clubs.

All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at La Yole and I can recommend it.

A great campsite! We arrived on its first day open for the season and received a very warm welcome in the perfect English speaking reception. The lady walked us to our pitch while we drove following her - felt like a rather grand mini-precession! Pitch was very big and quite sandy. Showers were good, toilets were clean but for us Brits its a bit strange for the gents urinals to be outside. But when in France.

Fresh croissants, pain au chocolat and baguettes all available for breakfast - just pre-order and collect from reception and all were really lovely.

Places worth visiting from here - the local towns are all super with a special mention to the beaches in St Jean de Monts. Nantes is a bit of a drive, but a must do trip. The gois (a causeway that is under the sea except at low tide) is incredible with locals stopping off to gather shellfish, and once on the island it connects to the mainland some very Frence blue and white buildings are a joy to see, plus a castle with a little British history.

Go to this region and you will have a lovely time. Go to this site and you will have a comfy relaxed stay. As long as you don't mind peeing outside!

A very nice site indeed, stayed for 11 days from mid August. We were on one of the older pitches which was ok although some of the newer ones are nicer. It's very sandy so most of the older pitches are more sand than grass.

Toilet/shower facilities are clean and tidy, if it's your first visit to France the mixed sex facilities takes a bit of getting used to.

Area around is fantastic, situated on a quiet road within easy cycle of the nearest beach. Cycle routes are fantastic, it's about 500m down the quiet road before you can get on the cycle path that goes all through the forest down to the town of St Jean De Monts. They cater for cycling in a big way and the paths are safe, the road down to la Yole was safe enough for our boys aged 7, 6 & 6 to ride down having never been on road before (just walked across the busier road at the junction to get to the forest path)

The town of St Jean de Monts is lovely, they seem to have spent loads of money doing up the promenade and it's wonderful. The miles of beaches from St Jean De Monts down to Saint Hilaire de Riez seem to never end with many places to enter and free parking at all.

I really liked the safe family feeling of this site and was taken by the fact that even though it's quite large it seemed to maintain a feel of a smaller site. It also maintains a good French feeling even though I'd estimate that the occupants were at least 80% Brits with the rest a mix of Dutch and others.

The pool is excellent and again it seemed like we were at a much smaller site whenever we used it, no problem for the wife to find a lounger on every visit!

The bar area which is next to the pool is nice, serves some good food from what I could see, but didn't have any, and again it has maintained a smaller family feel. Definitely no sign of over commercialisation. They did have something on each night but it's not a massive venue so it was quite quiet. If you are looking for tribute acts and bingo while you ignore the kids and drink beer all night then this is not the place for you. Lovely!

We will be going back next year, nuff said!

Stayed here for 2 weeks in August. Pitch was big enough for our large Outwell (had requested larger pitch). Checking in was fine & they came & filled a couple of holes on our pitch with sand where it had rained & mud washed away. We were on a quiet road facing static caravans, with an empty field in the middle of the campsite behind, so we set up with a view of rabbits hopping about in the morning & evening!

Toilet block near us was clean & worked well. Even had free hair drying! Washing up room always had hot water & was never busy. Often the only ones in there.

Pool area was good - kids loved it. Not always able to get a lounger but that's probably the same everywhere in August. Food at bar was ok - chips, pizza & nuggets, but we mostly cook our own anyway. Kids didn't use the kids club as the few in it were younger than them (10 & 8).

At night we could hear the music from the bar, but it wasn't on too late. We stayed up to see a French tribute band one evening, who played everything from AC/Dc to Pink Floyd to Last Night a DJ Saved My life!

Our girls liked to cycle round the site & fetch bread & croissants for breakfast from the shop. Which was expensive for other stuff. Super market down near the beach was much cheaper.

Beach was great (hermit crabs at low tide!) & not busy as so much of it. You could walk but we drove & parked free right by the beach - saved carrying all the beach gear & food shopped on the way back.

Great for cycling on cycle routes through the forest to St Jean de Monts, which you could also drive to and park free.

Small water park nearby was good for a day out - cheaper after 4pm, as was the Feeling Forest, French version of Go Ape, (high wire climbing in the trees. Not for those whe fear heights!)

Also very near the campsite was pony riding through the forest - we booked a day that followed a thunderstormy night - but we still rode in the thunder & rain!

Our girls made friends with some English kids in the last 3 days, so it was their 'best holiday ever' - the campsite was a mix of French, Dutch, Germans & Brits.

Whilst our preference is for a much smaller campsite we actually really enjoyed our stay at La Yole. It is a very well run child friendly campsite with very helpful staff, excellent / immaculate washing facilities and a great bar and swimming pool. There is a mini supermarket which sells fresh croissants and bread in the morning but we would recommend you shop at the supermarket 2KM away for groceries as it is a bit pricey. We would fully recommend that you bring your bikes as it is definitely the way to get around. The area is serviced with fantastic cycles paths both on the roads and through the woods and if you do not have your own bike you can hire bikes at the campsite. Fab beaches are within a short cyle/drive away. We would definitely recommend La Yole.

We stayed here for 2 weeks having booked directly with the site. We wanted to stay in the St Jean de Mont area and this site is located on the outskirts but in countryside, about 5 to 10 mins drive from the town centre and close to beaches and supermarkets. It is very popular with the British and Dutch in addition to the French.

It's quite a large site with an old and new section. Approx half of the pitches are occupied with static caravans, many were privately owned. A lot of people on-site were return visitors and some told us that more and more of the pitches are being designated to statics. I think this is a shame and could spoil the atmosphere if the balance shifts too much.

The pitches are generally of a good size and are typically French with each one being surrounded by well trimmed hedgerows. A few of the pitches are rather uneven and all are sandy. We had a couple of rainy days and some small puddles developed but most drained well.

Onsite there is a good outdoor pool with a slide, and a small indoor pool too. There is also a good playground, on site bar, games room etc. The food in the on site shop is very expensive however and most people went down the road to the U-express supermarket for food.

In the evening we could hear the noisy disco from a neighbouring site although this didn't bother us too much and finished at 11:30 each evening.

There are 4 wash blocks on site, 2 old and 2 new. The older units are large, fairly clean but must be 30 years old and given the high pitch cost I would have expected newer and better. They need to make some investment here. The newer wash blocks are much better but are much smaller.

There is lots to do in the area and the beaches are fantastic. You could walk to the nearest beach but it's about 1 mile from the site and it's easier by bike or car. There is free parking everywhere and the beach in St Jean De Mont is better.

We were trying to do our holiday on a tight budget and this is still possible in France but you have to be very careful. If you stick to the supermarkets, don't eat Chicken (why is it so expensive over there?) and don't eat out too much then costs will be about the same as a UK holiday excluding the Ferry. We took the fast ferry from Portsmouth to Cherbourg which leaves a 4. 5 hr drive down through France with no tolls to pay. The total cost of our holiday was £1750 all in.

First time camping in France so picked this site from a wide choice. We could not have picked a better site !. Pros and Cons.

Cons. No where to re freeze ice packs.

Pros. To many to mention.

The site is very well ran, very well established, very clean and tidy and in a very lovely area of France. Ample toilet/shower facilities, the block at the bottom of the site is the newer of the 3.Excellent washing up and waste areas and a nice little laundry room with 2 ironing boards.

The pitches are large to say the least. Our outwell ohio xl looked lost. Conifer hedges separate the pitches and each has there own water and drainage.

The no noise between 10.00pm and 8.00am rule was respected by everyone while we were there. Never went to the on site entertainment so cant comment.

The town of St Jean de Monts is a 10 min drive away with everything you could want ie Supermarket, shops, bars, restaurants and 8 miles of golden sands!. An absolute must is the Puy De Foe theme park about 1.5 hrs drive and 4 euros toll (each way). The place is amazing! just look on the net.

All in all a fabulous family site and a perfect introduction to Camping abroad.

We spent two weeks here. It is a large campsite with a lovely pool, water slide, clubhouse, lots of sports 'things'. We have a large caravan and if they had put us on a regular pitch, it would not have fitted. We have no children so possibly picked the wrong time to go as the kids on bikes were a bit much. Some of the pitches were so close together, there was no room to site outside your unit. The toilet block in one place only had 3 toilets an 3 showers but another block had twice as many. Could do with more toilet blocks or expand the current one. The staff were friendly. There is a shop on site with its own bakery, a bar with takeaway food. If you want somewhere fairly near a beach, this is ok but us with no kids found it a bit too busy with kids and their bikes. We had electric hookup, and own water and waste water.
