What a lovely site. Spotlessly clean grounds and facilities. The owners are friendly and very accommodating.
We only had a one night stop over but would definitely visit again for a longer period.
This site was perfectly located for our halfway stopover to Tenby. Thank you Smithy Park!

We just love this site. We always start and end the touring season here.
Flat level fully serviced pitches including TV.
Facilities are always spotless. Site is very well maintained and neat and tidy.
Nice little touches like book exchange and herb garden.
Lovely walk along the canal and river and plenty to do in the area if you get fed up of relaxing.
There is road noise, but if you are from a town like us you don't really notice. The proximity to the main road is one of the advantages for us. There is also sheep bleating and cows mooing and birds of prey screeching. I've also heard owls hooting and watched an otter swimming in the river. Certainly wouldn't complain about this.
Fantastic view of the stars at night
Just love it.
Staff are very friendly and helpful.
We will continue to come here and almost hope it doesn't get too popular so that we will always be able to get pitches when we want them.

WOW peaceful, calm, relaxing and friendly place :)
We bought a new van and needed somewhere close to check it over. Upon arrival we were met and given info about the site, pitch and a park bake off that was happening sounded fun, but unfortunately had other plans although a lot of people were there for cake and coffee so looked a success. Got to our pitch. Right along the river it is such a beautiful setting started to check out the awning poles 1 short. But was quickly offered help from the warden to go and see if he could find another pole, he was so helpful. It really is a well kept park there is nothing that you could fault. The toilets and showers were spotless. The people SO friendly and the staff there unbelievably Helpful. We went and sat on the benches by the river. Not one person we passed went without speaking. A lot of them and were from the static caravans and told us places to walk and things to see.
We went into Newtown and welshpool whilst there and could get absolutely anything you needed from the supermarkets or local shops lovely places.
We ate out of an evening at three horseshoes Berriew lovely meal, the chef at the abermule hotel which is walking distance was on holiday. But we did call in for a drink. Nice place too. Its a definite for us to go to again loved it. Thank you

All that has been said before, I can not better. Peaceful by a river that just rolls on by. The surrounding area has lots to offer. Welshpool and Newtown are the main towns well worth a visit along with the Charlie's store in Newtown that sell most everything. Powis Castle is a delight and the Llanfair Light Railway is worth a ride through nice country side that you can see that is not blocked by tree's. The Elan Vally was the best area we visited. Just stunning. Will return again that's for sure.

A very nice site. I was impressed that electric, fresh and grey water removal were available on each individual pitch ( there a was a TVs Ariel hookup as well which we didn't use ). Toilets spotless. Staff on the ball and friendly. The other tourers we talked to all said they would come again. There is a small well stocked shop just over the road from the site entrance. Mobil phone signals tend to be poor in the entire area. Free Wifi worked fine for 2 of our 3 days for basic internet usage.
We did make the mistake of being slavish to our sat nav and took an early turn off the A5 onto 20 miles of B roads, very picturesque but quite tight in places. By staying on the A roads up until Abermule it's a very easy / straight forward journey.

A thoroughly enjoyable bank holiday spent at Smithy Park with my two children, wife and mother.
A beautifully presented site with lovely landscaping. The tourer site within was great (we had pitch 2), has a fab children's park and is adjacent to the fenced off river. It is strange that the children's play park is so good when the site isnt advertised as especially child friendly (no riding of bikes - although a blind eye was turned to our children on our visit)
The information room is a great idea with all of the leaflets and suchlike, and has the best wifi signal on site - no signal whatsoever down on our pitch.
The facilities on site are fantastically clean and tidy and we have nothing but praise for everything available to us
I would give this site a 9 out of 10 - it would be a perfect 10 but for the road noise that carries across.
I can happily recommend a pint of Clun pale ale from the Abermule pub which is approx 200m from the site entrance. Shame that they havent yet found a chef as it would have been great to get a bite to eat as well. However, luckily for us this meant that we took to the car and travelled toward Welshpool and came across a pub called The Nags Head - approx 3. 5 miles from site - and had the best Sunday dinner that I've ever had.

Management response: Thanks for taking the time to leave your review.
We are happy to say that work has been completed on our wifi system and it is now up and running.
Some people do mention the road, but we have many returning customers, some of whom go on to book seasonal pitches or buy Holiday Homes.
Thanks again for your review and we look forward to seeing you soon. |

Fantastic site with all extras that you wouldn`t normally find.
There is nothing on the site that anyone could complain about. It is clean and tidy with grass cut really low and toilets and showers etc very clean. There are plenty of books to swap, in fact I would say hundreds!
A nice touch is the kettle with tea and coffee for you to use while you are browsing the many leaflets. There are tables inside and outside for you to sit out.
Part way into the site are benches down by the river which is lovely to sit at and watch the world go by! and there is a lovely walk out of the site down by the canal.
The pub at the entrance to the site is closed and the Abermule which had great reviews was closed for food as the chef had left and they didn`t have another.
All in all a beautiful place to stay.
Just a note which I was surprised that no one else has mentioned, you may miss the site as the brown caravan sign is behind a bush. When your satnav tells you to turn in, you think it can`t be right as it looks like you are turning into a pub car park. However, it is correct.
The only thing against it and it is not a fault of the site, is the noise from the road next to it. Considering that it is only a single carriageway, the noise starts early in a morning and continues until late at night. I have never complained about road noise before, but this is excessive.

This is a very well kept site. Good access for caravans and well spaced full facilities level pitches including TV Ariel cable. Toilets and showers are good and kept spotless. There is a well stocked book swap and wi-fi is available but a bit hit and miss. Managers are very friendly and helpful (on site). Walks available off site along river and canal. Easy access to Welshpool and Newtown. There is a small well maintained park for the children on site and local shop a couple of hundred yards away as is a pub (not tried).

Smithy Park is a lovely well kept site and great location. Staff friendly and helpful on arrival. Our pitch next to the river was perfect for dog walk and fishing. Shower/toilet block extremely clean. Fantastic having all utilities on pitch. There is some road noise but didn't put us off. Site near to Newtown for food shopping and about hour from coast. Will definitely go again and would highly recommend.

An extremely well kept site with friendly wardens, mainly has static vans with a small touring area along side the river, immaculate toilet shower facilities. The grounds are nicely landscaped and there's a walk down to the river complete with picnic benches. There's a small kids play area with mini goal posts tucked away in the corner (although I would say the site is not really child friendly as there's No cycling, No skatboarding, No roller skates and No ball games signs on virtually every lamp post). There's a Bus stop at the end of the lane with a good service to Shrewsbury, Welshpool & Newtown, and a very well stocked shop adjacent also a couple of pubs in the village. There is quite a bit of road noise from the busy A483 just over the river however.
