An excellent site in all respects. Small dedicated tourer area in part of larger static homes site, situated close to river Severn with fishing permitted. Very good toilet facilities and shop and 2 punts within few hundred yards of site. Delightful reception from Jayne!
Only downside is traffic noise from fairly busy A483 nearby. Soon didn't notice it though.

Just spent a very happy week at Smithy Park. Our only downside was the noise from the main road. Also the hotel along the road only does food at lunchtimes at the weekend. Otherwise great.
The bus from just along the lane is handy and goes to Newtown, Shrewsbury and Welshpool. We would recommend the Elephant and Castle in Newtown for a meal. Also would recommend a trip on the Welshpool Llanfair Steam Railway. The buses do not accept our English bus pass unless you are going to an English town i. E. Shrewsbury.

Management response: Thank you for visiting us and for your review.
We would like to confirm that The Abermule does food on Saturday evenings, not just lunchtimes.
We look forward to seeing you again. |

We visited this site 22-26th July 2015 as we had 2 free nights courtesy of Salop caravans nr Shrewsbury ( just purchased a newer caravan)the site is quite smart and the owner and staff very friendly and polite. The showers and toilet facilities were excellent and very clean although limited in quantity, not really a problem as I never had to wait. There is a secure play area for children. The site is ideal for visits to Welshpool. Mkt day Monday and Newtown. Mkt day Wednesday. Both towns have improved over the last ten years. Mongomery is 5 miles away and very quaint with a lovely church open all day.
I must agree with the comments about road noise by the end of the week it was becoming unbearable. The pitches by the river were well screened by the 8 foot hedges which softened some of the road noise. All in all a very enjoyable stay.

We would like to confirm that the market day in Newtown is on Tuesdays, not Wednesdays.
We look forward to seeing you again. |

Visited this site for the first time over the Easter Weekend. Small site for Tourers only around twenty pitches. The rest of the site is taken up with statics.
The site is in an excellent location right next to the river Severn. I would suggest that the pitches are a little close for my liking but we went with some friends and had a corner so no problems. There is also a lot of road noise from the A road across from the river. This is present all day and night. Not a problem for us but worth noting if you are a lite sleeper.
There is a small play area aimed at younger children. It is well fenced in so no concerns about kids getting into the river or balls flying past your van.
The owners were very helpful and friendly. As the ground was very wet the owner pushed our van onto the hardstanding pitch as it was getting bogged down. By the time we left 4 days later the ground was dry again.
The toilett/shower block was clean but limited to two showers for male and females. This doesn't seem to be a problem however as we never had to queue. There was an issue with the hot water system but this was dealt with promptly and with apologies.
No shop on site but no need as there is a local shop at the end of the drive.
Currently two pubs in the village, both within easy walking distance. The one closest to the site is up for sale and probably wont be a pub much longer given the lack of trade that we saw. The newly re-opened Abermule has a nice garden area and friendly staff/owners. We ate there on the saturday and the bill was reasonable and the food excellent.
The location with regard to things to do is good. We went and had a look at the local castle which is 1. 5 miles walk from the site. Brilliant views. We also did Devils bridge which I would suggest you get there early and don't plan to stay too long. Aberystwyth is a good day trip with spectacular scenerary on the way there and back. When we go again we will spend more time exploring the countryside.
All in all this is a good site and I will be looking to return.

A fantastic site with typical superb Bestpark facilities. The site is beautifully kept with spotless toilet/shower blocks. Although it is mainly a static caravan park the touring site is totally separate and private. You can walk into Newtown along the canal path without touching any roads. It is about six miles but we had a pint in a dog friendly pub then caught the bus back. The pub at the end of the lane serves good beer but has one big negative for us. It does not allow dogs inside. This is a very friendly site; everyone will stop for a chat. We love it!

Stayed on this park for 2 nights, the park is very well maintained and the facilities are very clean. My only concern is that there are only 2 showers to cater for 26 pitches, as the site was fairly quiet during are stay this was not a problem, however when it's full you might have a bit of a wait. The pitch was a nice size and fully serviced with TV connection There are two pubs and a small shop at the top of the road next to the site so not to far to go for any extras that you may need, overall we would stay here again, a nice and pleasant weekend break.

Management response: Thank you for the review and for staying with us.
We have 2 showers each in the mens and ladies, and also a wetroom with shower for the less able and families |

We booked in for a weekend here. The site is very nice, tidy, well kept and all the facilities were immaculate, the river is very nice to sit by or to fish. We had a problem with the electricity popping on and off, had a bit of a snotty complaint from one static owner of voices in the night. (tourers are a bit close I think)
Pub was ok if you don't mind foul language, didn't eat there but we saw a good plateful or two come out and prices were ok on menu.

The site is immaculate very neat and tidy, the toilets/ showers are very clean and the showers hot. The pitches were all hard standing and not just a bit of gravel, proper concrete and very level. It is by no means a concrete jungle, grass surrounds the pitches.
There is a pub at the end of the lane but it looked pretty run down although the landlord was quite welcoming.
There's nothing of note in the village. We stayed just one night on our way home from the coast and to be honest it was too long.
The site is brill but its in the wrong place.

Excellent, well run site, with friendly welcome from staff on duty. Facilities are new, clean and well-maintained. Serviced pitches are a boon.
Web site needs update, as there is no post office in the village, despite it being listed.
Soothing sounds from the adjacent river, and excellent location for fishermen. Only downside is the noise of the traffic on the A483, which echoes back from the mountain on the other side of the road.

The park was not very well signposted, we drove past three times before we saw the sign. The turning is next to the pub. It looks like you are going into housing estate, the park is behind the houses.
Positives:
The park was very nicely laid out, neat, clean & tidy.
Although there is a busy road nearby, the only noise came from sheep bleeting & stream running behind the park.
The shower block & facilities are lovely, clean & warm.
The people running the site were friendly & helpful.
Negatives:
The site office closed at 4. 30, we arrived at 6. 00. But they had left instructions as to which plot we were allocated.
The showers are timed, which is a bit of a pain.
The pub does not do food or allow dogs in. We got food from Spar shop opposite.
