We spent 16 nights at this campsite and will not be returning!

After booking in January and requesting a big pitch we were given the smallest pitch on the site. Once we squeezed my son's tent in next to the trailer tent with the car in front there was no room for us to sit outside. After the first night of continual rain we woke up to our very own moat around our pitch - we had to walk through our neighbours pitch to get to the toilet block! After a walk around the site we took note of plenty of bigger pitches to head to reception with to see if any were available for us to move to. We chose one at the furthest side of the site so we didn't have to listen to the karaoke until gone midnight again. (When I questioned this at reception I was told that it was to be expected on certain nights in high season.

We moved pitch and enjoyed the space and sound of the river which ran along the back of the camp site.

The toilet block was very clean, the shower cubicles are lovely and big. We never had to queue but then the site was far from full. The block was closed for an hour each day but, truth be told, one half was always open depending which end was being cleaned. The wardens were very friendly but we felt a definite coolness from the owner.

This is a very 'cliquey' site, many of the campers come here year after year to the same pitch with the same neighbours - we really didn't fit the mould. Twice my son went to reception to ask for the mini golf clubs and both times they weren't available - one of those times we were pretty much the only ones on site.

The pool was very cold, my son went in less than five times during the whole holiday, my daughter a few times more but every time they came out shivering. There is also a little paddling pool but this was always empty - I guess the high season didn't count for this.

We never went to Henry's bar so can't comment on that.

The children enjoyed the table tennis and zip wire.

There is no shop on site but there is a little boulanger in the village along a little lane which keeps you well away from the main road. All fresh bread and cakes can be bought there. The rest of the village is very drab. It is literally just a road through to somewhere else with lorries and cars hurtling through at speed. Lots of wine sellers so there are field upon field of grapevines to walk through which is very pretty.

We had lots of great days out, Cadre Noir and Puy du Fou were amazing, we all loved the zoo, wine caves, mushroom caves, geocaching, bike rides etc.

As our holiday wore on our new, bigger pitch took on a most unpleasant aroma, there was definitely a sewage smell which was overpowering once we took our groundsheet up. Something was definitely not right with the drainage.

Mice - did I mention the mice? There were lots, you could hear them squeaking at night. They chewed a hole in my husbands groundsheet (from his cub camp days no less!) and as we packed away my son's tent they had chewed a sizeable hole in his SIG and made a nest under the air bed!

We were not happy campers, couldn't wait to leave and will definitely not be returning. If you go to France for a Sunday dish of chicken and chips or rice with optional gravy then maybe this site is for you, if not, steer clear!

GREAT CAMPSITE, GREAT HOLIDAY. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !

This is our second time at this site so thought it was about time we left a review.

The site offers a fantastic location for all local attractions and you won't be short of things to do in this region. We visited many places such as Puy Du Fou, Biopark(zoo), Oriental Gardens, Chateau's galore, Vine Yards Galore. The list is endless! They offer a great service, ensuring you get to experience what's around, what you want and there is something for everyone in this part of rural France. Very friendly people and wardens. We don't have children but it seemed very child friendly with plenty for them to do both on site and off site too.

The facilities are clean, safe, well built, never queuing for the loo or a shower and there's plenty of space around. They have washing machines and a dryer for those who need it. We tended to let the sun dry our clothes.

They have a local boulangerie within walking distance for fresh bread, croissants etc. Further down the road are the main supermarkets which you can walk, cycle or drive to. Great walks through the vine yards along the way.

The restaurant had great food, good value, friendly people and a tranquil atmosphere. Nothing too fancy but offering a selection of traditional french and english cuisine. Perfect for camping. Lots of restaurants in the local area to try as well. They fed us with good recommendations.

The pitches are spacious and very private in most areas. All electric and water is supplied on each pitch. No problems there at all.

Would definitely return here a 3rd time. Money well spent! Thanks for a lovely stay

A really lovely site - the owners are incredibly friendly and helpful. The site itself is stunning with lots of greenery and pitches with enough privacy you didn't feel like you were being watched but open enough to be sociable.

The site is very well maintained with an army of workers gardening and tidying almost every day. The bar/restaurant is very good and ideal for a lazy evening. The pool is very well maintained and clean, the sun loungers are plentiful and comfortable - the umbrellas round the pool were a little sparse but then we weren't there at the busiest time so maybe more are brought out later in the season. The toilet/shower block is open and airy, fabulous showers with loads of room. Two washing machines and a communal washing line make for easy laundry days. There are some smaller activities at the site (badminton, ping pong, crazy golf).

Although we didn't take our dogs the site was clearly very dog friendly.

The site is quiet and despite being near a main road you don't notice the traffic noise (other than the few loud motorbikes which go by) The site is ideally situated, you can walk to the nearby village (5 mins down a little track so you avoid the main road) where there is a boulangerie and also a van selling melons. The town of Doue-la-Fontaine is five minutes drive away and has four supermarkets to choose from as well as a small town centre. Plenty to see and do within a one hour radius.

We would definitely visit again - in fact many people there were regulars which shows how good the site is.

Personally thought this site was brilliant, stayed only one week, but owners could not have been more helpful. The toilets were exactly as advertised, very clean. Showers very clean and spacious. Henrys bar was great for a pint of lager. It was empty of kids when we stayed but there seems like plenty for them to do. We used acsi card here. All in all one of the better ones we stayed at in 5 weeks in France. Plenty to see locally too.

Recently returned from a very pleasant stay at this lovely campsite. The pitches vary in size and shape but all separated by hedges and trees and none too far from the toilet block. Friendly owners and staff. Loads for children to do, though none on the site whilst we were there. Play area, crazy golf, boules, table tennis, zip wire, basketball, volleyball and the pool. The main pool is quite deep 1. 5m and was cleaned daily whilst we were there til it closed on 15th September. It is positioned well to get maximum sun so despite our stay being at the end of the season we were still able to enjoy a swim. There is also a paddling pool but this had been drained, presumably because it was low season. We only used the bar a couple of times and didn't have any problem with prices or choice of menu and enjoyed a nice meal there one evening. The reception area has a good selection of tourist leaflets and the owners are very knowledgeable about the local area.

Its worth mentioning that the site no longer allows charcoal barbeques. There are gas ones to hire but we thought the 10 euro charge (that does include gas) was a little steep.

My only criticism of this site was that towards the end of our stay the toilet/shower block cleaning became a bit irregular. A notice in the block stated they are cleaned daily at 11am and initially this was the case but not so at the end of our stay which was a shame.

Loads to do in the surrounding area. LOTS of local vineyards to visit and the zoo and Monday market at nearby Doue la Fontaine and the Troglodyte village at Rochemenier (6kms north of Doue) are all well worth a visit. Further afield we enjoyed trips to Angers, Saumur, Montreuil-Bellay, Chinon and Turquant. Turquant had a well signposted walk round the village (takes approx 2 hours) which was really informative about the local life both past and present.

We came upon this site in 2002, on our way back to Caen, the present owners had just taken over the site, only stayed a couple of nights, but what we saw was good, so good we booked a holiday the next year. We again spent 2 weeks in August 2011 the facilities are better and very much cleaner than most ( we generally use our 'vans superb facilities but when the sites are this good !)

Parkland features throughout the site, nice touches like Flower arrangements abound. There is a superb pool area (nice to see no drinks or shoes allowed in this area ) The small bar and restaurant has a good selection of beers & many local wines to taste, the menu is as expected, not vast but Hey! it's a caravan park not a Chateau restaurant. What was served us was good food served in a pleasant manner, the drinks we found were of a par with other local establishments Euro 2. 50 for a beer or glass of wine (an even better buy on the wine if bought by the pitcher ).

The site is situated superbly to enjoy the Chateau, Loire, Zoo and many attractions nearby. Looking forward to staying here again when in this part of France.

Great pitch, good pool, fab neighbours - we were happy here for a week. BUT - bar overpriced, 5euros a beer so we stocked up at supermarche and drank a la van most of the time.

Showers and loos big and clean but roof not attached to wall so drafty when weather not hot, push button showers with no water temp adjustment so you get what you're given.

Nothing in the local town but only a few mins drive up to Doue le fontaine, nice places to eat and the zoo is definitely worth a visit. Bread etc delivered in the morning if you order night before which was nice.

Owners seemed a little disinterested, ie beer prices, food menu very limited and uk pub style ie fish chips and mushy peas, not really what we fancied in August but each to their own. Didn't eat once as only 4 or 5 options and nothing we fancied plus expensive!

Holiday made by having fab neighbours who helped us put the awning up and who we shared drinks with a few nights, if we'd been alone I think we'd have left sooner. Thanks to them for being friendly campers and we hope they got home safe -we learnt not all insurance policies are made equal!

We stayed here at the beginning of July. A lovely clean site with really well kept shower and loo block. Our pitch was really large-plenty of room to spread out on. The owners were friendly but not too intrusive-we prefer that.

We had a great time touring around but the only downside for us-and of course nothing to do with the excellent site-was that it would have been nice to walk into the local village of Concourson-Sur Layon and sit and sip coffee/wine. However the vilage only seemed to have a boulengerie and not much else so we had to drive everywhere. Overall a lovely site and we couldn't believe the weather-so hot!

This is a small/medium sized site just outside the village of Concourson sur Layon, about twelve miles south west of Saumur on the D960.

What a charming, lovely site this is. Pitches come in various sizes, most of them large and separated by light, mixed hedging. Again as is so often the case in France the owners have avoided tarting up the camping environment and have used a good range of plants to separate and designate the different pitches - and have created a very natural looking camping environment. There are about 100 pitches with the addition of a dozen or so new plots being created at the end furthest from reception.

The site was about two thirds full, we were here the last week in July so I expected the site would get a bit busier over the coming month. This is a quiet site though does cater well for campers. There is a welcoming bar area next to the pool. Its not one of those mad busy sites, its all quite relaxed and laid back, though there was entertainment on at the bar which we didn't bother with. This included bingo, wine tasting and karaoke. We preferred to stay on our pitch and do our own wine tasting!

The single, central toilet block is outstanding, and is about the best weve come accross! Its a modern block with with clean very spacious shower cubicles. Theres plenty of wash and WC facilities too.

The town of Concourson 200 yards away has a bakery and a small store, but other than that there's not much going on. Doue la Fontaine is a couple of miles up the road and has numerous restaurants, beyond the town and a ten minute drive takes you to Saumur which is well worth a visit. The sites location is to the west of most of whats happening in the Lore but still close enough to make travelling a viable option to most chateau's and places of interest.
