We enjoyed our stay here - precautions were in place for coronavirus but we didn't feel they were over the top.
The site is clean and well kept. Staff are friendly enough.
TV works well and 4g is good.

Great site just off the M1, perfect for a stop over or a few days visiting the peak district.
Lots of walking from the park with the trans pennine trail next to the entrance. Or just a leisurely stroll around the lake.
Dog owners need to be mindful of the new restrictions regarding keeping dogs on leads around the lake.
Clean, well laid out site. My only gripe was the toilets are key entry so you need to remember to take it with you each time you go.
Enjoy your visit, we did

I loved this site! It's an easy tow just off the M1 and the walking straight off the site is absolutely brilliant: turn left to go to the Trans-Pennine Trail and turn right to go to Poolsbrook Country Park.
The wardens were new to the area but they were friendly and helpful.
If my dogs had been with me, they'd have given it four paws up.

Just a quick update to my previous review. Over the winter of 2017/2018 they have converted the motorhome waste point to an open grid, so no more lifting of heavy drain covers. We used the site as short stopover because of it's ease of access from junction 29A on the M1.

To Find Site:- Leave M1 at junction 29A and follow road towards Staveley. On the approach to Poolsbrook Park keep an eye out for half wheel Country Park markers and at the second one turn left into Pavilion Drive and then immediately left again for the site. Continue all the way up the hill until you get the site.
Poolsbrook Country Park CMC site is built on reclaimed land that was formally part of a colliery and is part of the Country Park of the same name. The site is open all year and accepts non-members but not tents. For anyone heading north/south on the M1 it makes a useful stop point en route as it’s only a few miles from the motorway. Price wish it is quite reasonable. In total there are 86 pitches the majority are hardstanding including some serviced and the remainder are on grass. There are fenced walkways throughout the site which I assume are to stop visitors taking short cuts? Electric points are convenient to all pitches and are rated at 16 amps and use CEE17 blue connectors and are required to be twist locked into the socket. The electric bollards also have a co-ax TV cable connection which are free to use but you have to provide your own cable. There is one central toilet block which is of a high standard and includes a covered washing up area and laundry. Unusually it does not have a chemical toilet emptying point however there are other service points dotted around the site. The motorhome service point is outside the toilet block but still needs heavy metal drain covers to be removed in order to drain waste water. There is no play area for children although these can be found in the Country Park. The site has site wide WiFi although I needed a booster to get a consistent signal. Mobile signal on site seemed satisfactory. The reception sells a few essentials and newspapers can be ordered. Next door is an information room with details of local attractions.
The town of Staveley is a couple of miles from the site. There is a half hourly bus service from near the Park entrance. In the town there are good transport connections to Chesterfield and Worksop and beyond. For shopping there is a large Morrisons in Staveley. There are opportunities for cycling from the site.

A smashing site situated 10mins from the M1, so brilliant for stopovers. The site is in a Country Park, so great for walks, but the immediate surrounding area is nothing to write home about. If you decide to stay a few nights, Chatsworth, and the Derbyshire Dales are close by as is the Peak District.
The site is very well maintained, and has a large clean shower block. There is also a very well equipped caravan sales and parts shop only 3 miles away for anything you have forgotten!

We have stayed here regularly over the winter months, the site having good size hard standing pitches & a warm facilities block! & have always enjoyed our visits. But on arrival this time were told that we only had a choice of four pitches, even though they were less than half full, the assistant wardens who were duty did apologise, & said that the main wardens had left them instructions! The site's convenient for the 'Trans Pennine Trail', close to the Chesterfield Canal, both offering different walks into Chesterfield & further afield. A short drive away, (or bus ride), are Renishaw Hall & Bolsover Castle, both well worth visiting. It's just 15min walk into Staveley for shopping & take-away Indian, Chinese, & fish & chips. After some heavy rain our pitch, along with quite a few others, flooded & we needed the wellingtons! It's just a pity that the main wardens had such a bad, abrupt, attitude, fortunately their assistants were friendly & pleasant.

This is an excellent site convenient for M1 but no road noise experienced at all. Site facilities very good and very clean. Adjacent to site is Trans Pennine trail ideal for cycling or walking with no traffic. You can easily cycle to Rother Valley, Sheffield (tram interchange) or Chesterfield along the canal. The town centre (Staveley) is close and has swimming pool and Morrisons supermarket or you can catch regular bus to Chesterfield or Sheffield. Poolsbrook Country Park is next to the site. Don't be put off by comments about industrial site or noise from traffic, I've never experienced any adverse effects. This is one of my favourite Caravan Club site locations.

I will start with first impressions. Wife rang to book a few weeks ago and because I had the caravan club card in my wallet and she didn't know the number, the lady on the phone was abrupt and nasty, great start. After getting all the info, wife rang back and booked with a nice gentleman on the phone.
On arrival, site is clean and very well kept, large pitches, but they do like to use all the available area's, even the grass between the hard standings, bit closer than the 6m rule!
Facilities were great and the toilet block has excellent showers (fully adjustable) very clean and tidy.
Down sides. Lady staff come across as things are too much trouble and they couldn't be bothered.
I went for gas one evening, usual scenario, 20 to five, middle of tea and it ran out. Hurriedly I disconnected the bottle, went to reception passing the 'calor gas' sign where I was told, 'we have none', sorry I said, there is a sign saying you sell it, 'we have ran out'. Oh I said, then thought why not say that in the first place, ah well I said, while I am here, I need to book another night please.
'Errrr, I am just about to cash up' (4. 51, only close at 5. 00), its card I said, 'That don't matter, Its still, errrr, go on, hurry up!'
Do they want the business I wonder?
Then over one weekend I go to the toilet (I have IBS) the block has the barrier across the door, oh no I think. I see a lady staff member in the washing up room so I ask how long the toilet block is closed for? She tells me about another 20 minutes, then with a sour retort 'There is a toilet there you know?', well actually, no I didn't know and having my close reading specs on I did not read the small sign on the door. OK, Thank you I said and swiftly entered the Toilet.
It doesn't take much to answer people politely and in a nice manner, if I was rude and nasty in my job, I would get nowhere.
Now it did rain a lot, but we are used to it. What we were not used to was wading through a large pool forming on our pitch in front of the awning door and I am not exaggerating when I say it was 2 inches deep and soaked over my trainers trying to get to the car.
I went to reception to let them know, just in case there may have been some kind of grid or soak away that required a little cleaning and was told, 'Oh yeah, that pitch does flood' then if you know, why not do something about it, or warn us when we choose from the 3 pitches available that that one floods?
And to top it off, one of the staff on site have a large dog that likes to bark at every gnat fart. First time we have heard it in 12 days, so must be new?
Great clean, well maintained site. 10 out of 10
Customer care and people skills 1 out of 10
I have only just joined the Caravan Club after a few years away, is this the sort of customer care I am to expect throughout the CC sites?

Just returned from our first weekend at this site, which is situated in what looks like an industrial estate as you drive up to it. However as you turn into the sites driveway it is a lovely surprise as you catch a glimpse of the country park.
The site has the usual cc standard facilities- excellent toilet/shower block, laundry etc. The pitches are large and well spaced. We had a serviced pitch which was great as the water, waste & tv Ariel socket were right next to the pitch, it was a hardstanding pitch but the pegs went in easily.
The country park is lovely with great walks right off site & a lake which has has an accessible path all the way round. The closest town is Staveley which has limited smaller shops & a Morrisons with a petrol station attached. Robinsons caravans is also in Staveley for all your caravan needs.
We went to the Devonshire Arms which is in Middle Hanley, 10 mins drive, its dog friendly & serves good food, although a little expensive & only open in the evenings.
We didn't have time to explore the area further so we've booked to go back. If it was a little closer we would definitely go regularly
