We stayed here for two nights on the way home. It is a well-equipped site within easy walking distance of the medieval town of Loches, a largely undiscovered and beautiful little town which the tourists seem to have overlooked, but an absolute gem not to be missed. We cancelled plans to visit one of the more famous chateaux to spend the day exploring Loches and were glad we did.
The campsite itself is fitted out to a very high standard, but lacks any atmosphere. The standard pitches are arranged in groups of eight in hedged enclosures and lack any privacy. The restaurant/snack bar adjoins the swimming pool and serves mostly pizzas, with a few salads and various things with chips. The high-domed terrace roof is very echoey and we had to compete with the noise and a prodigious number of smokers, which didnt make for a relaxing meal after a very long and tiring drive to get there. One plus-point is the well-stocked E. Leclerc on the south side of town. Overall, a good spot for a short break en route to somewhere better, but overpriced and charging a cheeky 20 booking fee.

This was a site we return to regularly. We like the fact that it's an easy walk into the fascinating town of Loches, and the views of the citadel are brilliant from the site. Reception closes from 12. 15 to 2. 00 and the gate is down so you have to wait at the entrance but it does mean you can walk the site and decide where you'd like to be! The sanitaires are always clean, with piped music! The pool is the warmest we've yet found in France! It's an ACSI site in June. We will be back.

Arrived to find bar and restaurant closed on 28th August. Facilities were not hygienically situated, washing up area beside pissoise and toilets and chemical disposal point. No private toilets, all out in the open and near washing up area.
Generally site needs maintenance cleaning and painting.
To walk in to town in the evening you have to pass through streets with drunks and ladies of the night around.
Staff at reception unhelpful and when I asked for information on the area I was ignored on two occasions.
The midges were also vicious!

Loved this site. Found the toilets/showers modern well maintained and spotlessly clean. There was some lovely music playing as well. We had a 3 metres high motorhome and had no problems finding a suitable pitch. The staff were helpful and friendly and we used the washer dryer and found that good too. \lovely walk into Loches (about 10 to 15 mins) and the town was beautiful with some lovely shops and restaurants. Other good walking in the area too. We were late season so the restaurant/takeaway etc. Were closed. This was reflected in the price we paid. The pool was still open and looked good. We are planning to return for a longer stay this next summer.

We first reviewed this site a few years ago, and returned twice - once to a service pitch & this year to an ordinary grass pitch with electric hook-up.
This year was disappointing. The nearby sanitaires were no comparison to the block we have used on previous visits & instead of the gentle music we have been used to, there was a rather noisy rendition playing. Standards of cleanliness were not so high.
Building works were in progress near the sanitaires, which did nothing to add to the general ambiance.
Obviously this site is in an excellent position, within walking distance of the town, its shops, markets & restaurants. There are also numerous places of interest to visit nearby.

We stayed here just the one night. Site was easy to find and is next to the town so a very short walk. Cost was 24 euros for 2 people, 2 dogs, a motorhome and elec. Wifi cost 4 euros per day. Pitches are a good size and mainly laid to grass. There is a small river running alongside the site with a nice walk around it. There was also a separate area to walk your dogs. Would definitely visit this site again.

Stayed here for 2 weeks this year, the 2nd year that I have gone and 3rd time my family has stayed here.
The previous two times before for 5 and 4 weeks and we plan to return next year for a longer time.
The location of the site is great, it is close to Loches with a great view of the Citadel at night. There is a path that leads straight into Loches as soon as you walk out the entrance of the site. This allows you to easily go for a meal in the town or even to go out for a drink. It is also especially good for the night of Bastille day as celebrations are held between the site and the town and it is spectacular.
The facilities of the site are well maintained and in the time I have spent there(a total of 7 weeks) I have never been met with unclean facilities. There are 2 Shower/Toilet blocks, one I have never used as we are always in the same pitch, so I cannot comment on it. However, the one that I have always used has large sinks, around 6 cubicles and a urinal, as well as indoor showers behind this; there is soothing music played in the showers which is something quite enjoyable. This shower/toilet block is located behind the bar and beside the swimming pool for easy access.
The only problem that you may have is that at around 9 or 10 at night until early morning at the time around the end of July, there are lots of small flies around the toilets (I believe due to their migration).
The swimming pool itself is a medium size that has a range of depths as well as a small paddling pool for young children. It is always kept clean and adds a nice atmosphere to the bar at night as it is lit with ambient green and blue colours.
The bar, somewhere that I spent a lot of my time, has a nice feel to it and is below a large canopy. The area is well seated and hold entertainment at night as well as Moulles-Frites once a week which is something you should definitely go to.
The staff are very friendly and speak a good amount of French, some very fluent. The prices of alcohol are not too bad, a range of 3 beers that will cost you around 2. 30 euro for a. 25L, 4 euro for a 0. 5L glass or 8 or 9 euro for a litre, depending on how thirsty you are.
The food is freshly cooked for the most part, and is very nice especially for someone who is particular about how their steak is cooked, always getting a lovely bleu steak. Pizza and frites are easy to get for those nights you don't want to cook and be got from the takeaway. Prices of some things seem quite high, but I have always enjoyed it nonetheless.
The bar is also beside an area for Petanque/boules as well as a reasonably sized play park, a bouncy castle that goes down around 8 and a small trampoline, if you have children, this is a lifesaver as you can relax and have a drink whilst also watching your child at the playpark.
There is also a Kid's Club that runs in the mornings and afternoons from Monday to Friday, usually in French, but English can also be spoken and my niece enjoyed it a lot, as well as making some friends.
Reception staff are all very friendly and helpful, one of the site's owners Isabelle is particularly kind and helpful and will make sure that any problems you have are swiftly sorted out.
We have always stayed in the Grand Comfort area that contains large sites with plenty of room, ground is nice and level and it takes very little time to set up. This year we had a caravan, awning, awning extension, gazebo, 2 tents and the car parked and still had a lot of room.
I would highly recommend this site to everyone, especially if you are planning to travel near the Loire area. A bit rash, but I would say this is probably the best site I have been to and this was my 12th time travelling to France and my family's 13th.

Agree with many of the other, more positive, comments. We stayed here for three nights using discount card and thought it very good value.
Pitch was a good size, with water & waste facility, we were told to choose after being given a map showing those available for our stay by very pleasant staff at reception.
While not having seats nor paper, the toilets were modern and clean as were the other sanitary facilities.
Proximity to Loches centre a plus as town is well worth a visit.

Stayed here first week in May, booked a gold pitch which gave you a large pitch with water, drainage and electricity. Also came with free wi-fi and your own personnel hut, which had a refrigerator sink and tables chairs and sun loungers. You could order fresh bread every morning from reception. The reception staff spoke good English. Loches is round about 10 mins walk on the riverbank, and for dog owners there is a wetland park a few minutes walk away, where dogs can run freely on a good long walk. Food shopping in Loches which is a lovely little town. Also the facilities near to the gold standard pitches are top class. Not cheap but well worth the cost, will return.

Arrived in Loches 12. 00 noon hoping to spend the afternoon looking around the town. Campsite seemed a perfect location with a riverside walk into the town office opened at 2. 00 p. M. From the outside site looked good and lots of facilities. We have travelled a lot in France but 24 euros was top dollar to pay even for a supposed 4 star site. However, it was far from 4 star with 2 toilet and shower blocks closed the only open one had outside loos! We have a 3. 2 metre high van and spent about 30 mins trying to park to avoid low tree branches on a plot with electric. The only area available was right next to the restaurant and play area but whilst it was unlikely either would be in use they were a bit of an eyesore. Site is mainly set up for chalet type accommodation not really motorhome friendly in my opinion.
We gave up and left and got our money back! Pity because on the drive through the town of Loches it looked good and well worth spending time there but after wasting a couple of hours we had to progress on by then to find somewhere else to stay.
