We found this site by chance on UKCampsite. Co. Uk and what a find. A brilliant site. Well run. Always kept clean and tidy. You get a large pitch, we had a four birth tent plus a 2mx2m gazebo and still had plenty of space. The picnic table was a added bonus that you get on every pitch. A very quiet site with fantastic views all around. The toilet blocks were very clean and the showers worked perfectly. The beach was only a 20 minute walk away from the site. We have 2 german sheperds which were welcomed on site and that could be walked in the surrounding area and could be taken onto the beach. The shop was a 5 minute walk away which was very well priced and could get a takeaway meal. Overall a very clean well run site. Will be going back again next year

Returning yet again to fabulous Higher Moor. Stunning location set in National Trust valley leading to Polly Joke beautiful beach. Tent only site with limited numbers so never overcrowded all tents sited around the perimeter large pitch with picnic table.
The refurbished toilets are a great improvement. Much more space for both showers and toilets. Showering is much easier and more pleasant.
Extra washing up sinks also much better.
This is a very well run and organised site by the hard-working owners.
Plan to return next year.

What a gem. Higher Moore campsite is truly an hidden gem. We found the site by accident whilst googling the Crantock area as we have stopped at the North side of Newquay for many years but now needed a base that we could take our dog Floyd. The site is clean and very well kept. X2 shower and toilet blocks.
The only criticism we could find with these facilities was that the camping field toilets were a little small but always very clean and well stocked with toilet rolls and free hand soap the was a nice touch. The showers were free and always hot.
Fresh salad and veg available at all times and very well priced as was the Wednesday fresh fish delivery(excellent quality). 3 beaches within easy walking distance and dog friendly and all very clean. Friendly bar next door at Treago farm which allows dogs into the bar area.
The Bowgie pub is 10 minute walk away as is the 3 pubs in Crantock village. Very quiet and relaxed site with no rowdy campers at night only friendly ones. Thank you John and Sue for keeping proper camping alive.

Fabulous location in National Trust valley 15 mins from beach.
Site only allows tents which are located around the outside of the field so plenty of space for children to play ball games etc. Each pitch is spacious and has a picnic table provided.
The facilities are very good with all you would expect from a well-run campsite.
The owners are friendly and run the site themselves.
This is a very popular site and booking is necessary during peak periods.

Couldnt find this site at first, we had to phone for directions, it is further down the lane from another campsite (Treago farm Wwe had a look around whilst staying at another site in Newquay and booked up there and then as we liked the look of it.
The main camping field (the site is tents only and some static chalets the approach lane is too narrow for vans) is fairly flat with just a gentle slope around the edges the owner has taken the very wise decision to have all the pitches around the edge of the field. They are very generous in size and clearly marked, each one having its own wooden picnic bench. The middle of the field is kept completely clear so there is LOADS of space, Cabanons the size of aircraft carriers (if we had any left that is) and Outwell lakes the size of, well, lakes one with THREE extensions the pitches here swallowed them all.
We were camping in our little Nevada S as my other half had just had a hand OP' (our usual outfit is a Norfolk lake) but whatever you camp in should fit in here. This site sits in a valley and the sun doesn't dip over the surrounding hills until quite late giving you lovely light evenings in high summer. We picked a good week weather wise and had the front canopy up every evening, after the sun sets the contrast between a clear night sky and the dark surrounding hills is stunning.
The surrounding heathland is grassed over sand dunes so the soil is quite soft and sandy on the site so should drain well The delightful little beach of Porth joke is about 20 MINS gentle walk away across the heath but the real jewel is Crantock beach which has a National trust car park.
There are two facilities blocks on site, the one near the camping field is a bit on the cramped side (especially the loo cubicles) but the one nearer the owners house is more spacious. This also serves the chalets. Hygiene standards were good at all times and there was always hot water (with some reminders not to use too much or waste it, fair one, we are from the westcountry and are used to rip-off water prices) There is a laundry room, recycling facilities, a chest freezer for cool blocks and even some racks of books and body boards and nets to borrow. There is some fresh produce available to buy from the owners garden and everyone is welcome at the shop at the bigger site just up the lane which sells most of the usual items.
There is a separate fenced off area with about six more pitches, not sure what the deal is with these, they are the closest to the facilities maybe enquire on booking.
We enjoyed our stay on this site and would definitely return, there are no EHUs but this is made clear on the website. The site always seemed to be busy (we had a week before the school holidays) and quite booked-up so we are a bit mystified as to why (at the time of writing) there are only 6 reviews, we can only guess that people are trying to keep it a secret!

Great campsite we had lots for space for our five man tent and accessories and its not over crowed by far. Very peaceful lots of space for children and dogs to play.
Owners are helpful and friendly. Facilities were basic but couldn't fault, clean and tidy showers/toilet blocks and ladies yes it has power point for hairdryer.
Has freezer for iceblocks and a place to charge your phone-only problem no reception at all till you get to farm shop about 3minute walk up the road. The shop sells everything! also does takeaway meals in the evening.
The surrounding area is beautiful lots of walks to beaches which don't take to long, Crantock and Porth Joke beaches are both child and dog friendly.
The village of Crantock has couple of pubs we went to the Cornishman which is dog friendly and the meals are recommended.
Newquay is only 10min drive away and lots to do with or without children.

All booked in February, fancied a Newquay type holiday without going into Newquay! As you could reach beaches by walking it seemed perfect.
Arrived, no-one at reception, there was only one other unit there at the time. Turned out I had put the wrong date on my booking form. Took potluck on the pitch and realised would most likely have to move in the morning - so lightly pegged out only with anchors, no guys etc and got to sleep!
Up at 8, went to meet the owner, explained my cock-up, he asked if we could move and not wanting to upset his plan, moved to pitch no.1! it was a nice spot and better than the one we picked anyway - flat as a pancake and tens secs from the block.
John the owner is a nice guy, not overly effusive, but helpful and keeps his site in very good order.
My kids found a secret spot and started building dens etc next to the river, John had to gently coax them out, it was a nice spot to play but rules is rules, even if they are not posted anywhere!
The site itself is very nice, a huge oval field with 22 pitches around the perimeter, not all pitches are perfectly flat, but not too bad, I would request the same again. The huge middle section is thus left clear for games, running about and generally having fun in! A great open space.
There are two toilet blocks, I suppose one is for campers and one is for the chalet guests, I used the chalet guests one just cos the cubicles were a little bigger for showering.
Plenty of hot water, pull the red cord ONCE!, the wc's were always spotless and always had handwash soap in them.
Behind the campers block is a very useful little shed that you can charge your phone up in (no signal but eventually you have to leave the site and reach a signal!) freeze your blocks, borrow or swap books, recycle bottles/plastic etc and out side there are plenty of rainwater troughs to rinse and dunk your wetsuit! All very well thought out, I was impressed with that.
Also there are little racks of boogie boards to borrow, fishng nets for the kids and beach toys in a storage bin. Again, useful and well thought out.
You can walk to three great beaches from the site, we as a party walked to two of them, Porth Joke and Crantock. We surfed both and had a fab time! About 10 - 15 mins walk for either. I also walked about a mile of the cliff path west from Porth Joke, there is some stunning scenery without a doubt.
The nearby campsite Treago is about a three min walk up the lane, useful shop stocks most things you could wish, I had a look at the camping bit, the site is quite sloping, I think Higher Moor and the proximity of this facility is a great combination. There isa nice bar in the barn, we used that to watch the Champions League Final!
Can't really say anything negative at all about Higher Moor, its a lovely, quiet site, great facilities and a wonderful piece of Cornwall.
If I was to be really really picky the piece of land next to the giant chess and draughts could accomodate a climbing frame and slides etc but that's really picky!
Higher Moor grow and sell vegetables, we had a party of five tents with enough burners to cater for 13 people so we bought some onions and they were great fried up with our BBQ burgers etc!
I would recommend and would certainly visit again.

We've just spent a week at Higher Moor, excellent site with superb pitch sizes. Clean and well maintained facilities. Owners are very welcoming and extremely helpful, lots to do in the area with great coast views.
Dog friendly site and area except for the local pub; the Bowgie which don't allow dogs inside - lovely beer garden as long as the weather is good!
We'll be going back for sure, we loved it!

This is a really lovely site, beautiful surroundings and 3 picturesque beaches that you can walk to!
We particularly enjoyed the walk across Cubert Common to Holywell beach with it’s giant sand dunes the kids had great fun.
The toilet/shower block in the main camping area are functional and clean, the ones attached to the main house are more modern with larger shower cubicles. Good washing up facilities – under cover (always a bonus!).
We would recommend this site for its marvellous location, its just what we want for camping spacious pitches, level field, great walks, good facilities.

We loved Higher Moor campsite. It is flat and wide, and pitches are around the edge with a wide open field in the middle. Every pitch has its own picnic table which we loved, and the shower blocks were kept clean at all times. We enjoyed the walks along Cubert Common to Polly Joke beach, and to Crantock beach (both beautiful).
There is no play area for kids but the field is big so there's plenty of room for ball games. Pitch sizes were large.
I liked that they had a freezer for freezer blocks and a laundry room, and a socket to charge mobile phones.
My criteria was 'walking distance from a beach, a pub, and a village shop'. Higher Moor had it all.
