This was our first trip abroad with our caravan and our first trip to Normandy. Camping Le Picard is ideally placed in a lovely rural setting with lots of country lanes which were perfect for us to cycle along. It is also near to the Forest of Cerisy where there are numerous footpaths and tracks for walking & cycling. The Normandy beaches are about 40 minutes drive away and the historic town of Bayeux is about 10 miles from the site. The site itself is beautifully maintained and is a nice size with plenty of space allocated to each plot. We backed on to a cornfield on one side and a field of sheep - plus a donkey! - on the other. Facilities are clean and ample although we were there in September when it was fairly quiet. The heated swimming pool was very welcome and was always kept beautifully clean. There is a restaurant on site which served good meals and drinks every evening throughout our stay and bread & croissants can be ordered daily. The owners were excellent hosts and always available. We will certainly be back again!

This is an excellent site; small only 33 pitches so very relaxing and peaceful (pitches were on the large side), we stayed 14 nights and could find no faults whatsoever. The hosts were truly relaxed and nothing seemed to much trouble. Hedges are provided around every pitch with electricity available - plenty of rubbish and recycling bins were provided. Wi-Fi was free, and although a little sporadic had a good signal and was more than adequate. Bread and croissants were available daily at reception. There is a heated swimming pool with beds and chairs/tables. We used the restaurant only once and it was very nice. Sanitary facilities were all available, showers/toilets/washing-up/washing/wash-hand basins, and although not four-star were more than adequate and they were clean and tidy. We paid 355euro for 14 nights (so 25euros per night all in), we were happy with this. Whilst there we visited Monet's Garden, Bayeux, the D-Day landing beaches. Mont St Michel and loads of other stuff, there really is loads to see and do in this area.

Easy to find as long as you follow Paul's instructions. The site is well laid out with hedges round every pitch. It was well looked after with electricity and water on the pitch, along with rubbish and recyling bins. Wi-Fi was free with a good signal. You can order bread and croissants at Reception. There is a nice heated swimming pool with beds and chairs/tables. There is also a restaurant which we did not use but did purchase take out chips from. The site was very peaceful when we were there. The sanitary facilities were all available, showers/toilets/washing-up/washing/wash-hand basins. Unfortunately this is what lets the site down. The facilities were clean and tidy but were well past their sell by date. They were also all open to the elements so we were pleased that we were there when the sun was shining. We thought that the nightly charge of 22. 30eur. For caravan/two persons/electricity was a little expensive. This site is close to Bayeux and the DDay landing beaches so plenty to see. Wish we had known about the sites offer of a 25% discount on Brittany Ferries if you book a pitch with them.

We like the Le Picard site at Tournieres - so much so that it features heavily in a light-hearted book that I wrote about our adventures as relative beginners exploring France. Le Picard is a great site for visiting the Calvados area, being close to the D-Day beaches, Bayeux, Caen, and only 40 minutes from the Caen Ferry Port at Ouistreham. It is a small, quiet and welcoming site with well screened pitches, small swimming pool and a fishing pond. Lashings of hot water & free showers in the scrupulously clean facilities, and you are quite likely to find cats & hens wandering about the site and sheep in the neighbouring fields. Very handy Caravan Storage facility - we keep our ‘van permanently in store & Paul tows it on site for when we arrive and parks it store again when we leave, and the site is open all year. Owners make great hosts and there is a small on-site restaurant and bar. There's no shop on site, but there’s a weekly open air market, supermarkets & restaurants only 10/15 minutes away at nearby St. Molay Littry. Great if you like a quiet rural site and/or visiting D-Day sites. ‘Shoestring’s Grand Tour’

We loved this place. The host and his wife were charming, helpful and couldn't do enough for us. As our French is poor they made things so easy for us.
The sites were lovely and flat, private and the facilities were fine if not super modern. There was tons of hot water and a great heated pool.
The bar was nice and cosy and the food offered was brilliant and well priced, highly recommended site.

A lovely little site within well located within an hours drive of Cherbourg, we just used as a stopover on our way back to Ireland but will definitely return next year for a few days to explore the surrounding area, the English owners are very welcoming and helpful and the restaurant and bar on site serve very good food at a reasonable price and in lovely surroundings. Also good wifi and I had no trouble setting up my satellite dish for signal which can be an issue on some sites
Very peaceful and well kept site, would recommend for anyone to try.

Stayed here during our first trip in the van to France with friends, having only made it to Eurodisney before on our own.
Booked last minute having decided to move on from Dieppe, turned up the day after booking, nothing was a problem for the team at Le Picard, Paul gave us several pitches to choose from, no easy task as we wanted two side by side, with one of them needing to be big enough for our twin axle. Eventually settled for one of the newer pitches near the caravan storage area. Just about within range of the free wifi, specially once we set up our wifi sun lounger in line with the walkway.
Site is ideal for English tourers with the owners being English ! Bread and croissants in the morning proved to be a great hit.
Showers and loo's are a little dated as others have stated, but fully functional, with boiling hot water for free. Cleaned regularly, so no complaints.
Swimming pool is small but again did the job without to many complaints from our kids, who spent most days in there !
Highly recommend this site for visiting the D-day beaches, and if feeling a little braver its only a hour and a half drive to le Mont St Michel.
Play park / lake are nice but not great. For smaller children.

This site is in a lovely spot, deep in the countryside but in easy driving distance of the Normandy beaches, Bayeux and other attractions.
I picked the site because of the good reviews. The English owners were polite though formal and our pitch was nice with a good electric hook up.
We didn't use the restaurant but it looked pleasant. Ditto the outdoor pool which I understand is heated.
The shower facilities seemed dated although the water was hot and the water pressure good. There were more showers at the other side of the site but we didn't use those so can't comment.
Bread could be ordered for the next day which is a nice touch.
We visited the Chateau de Balleroy, a lovely spot, and the Cerisy Forest. There is nothing in the village of Tournieres although St Molay Littry has shops etc and also a Mining Museum which we didn't have time to visit.
The site is conveniently situated for stopovers to/from both Cherbourg and Caen. However, the daily rate was expensive for the standard of the facilities. It was the end of the season but the site seemed a bit 'tired'. No shops etc within walking distance means I don't think we would return but we enjoyed our stay nonetheless.

We stayed here for three nights in mid August and had a wonderful time !
The owners couldn't do enough for us and were very welcoming, which overall reflected the friendly nature of the site and the other guests there.
Some of the facilities are a little dated, but to be fair, the water in the showers was always hot and there was never any need to queue.
Croissants and bread available in the morning, which was great !
Points to note for folks with younger kids;- the play area does have an unfenced pond, (and is a little bereft of things to play on) and the shallow end of the pool is around 1. 1m, meaning very small kids will need bouyancy aids. (The pool though is kept nice and warm and is a great facility)
We were offered a couple of pitches, and I can see that with a large caravan, with an awning, and a vehicle to pull it, it may seem a little cramped, but our trailer tent fitted fine. There was electricity to our pitch and FREE wi-fi (other sites take note !)
Would not hesitate to go there again, as we found this little site had a wonderful atmosphere and the owners and staff were very welcoming.

At the end of July we stayed here for a few days to allow OH to visit the D-Day beaches.
We were delighted with the appearance of the site, off a main road down a narrow lane a beautiful timber framed house was bathed in sunshine. This is the residence and reception.
We were greeted cordially by Paul, shown around the available pitches and invited to make our choice. There seems to be a 'new' side and an original side to the site. We opted to stay at a distance from the pool, our outlook was onto rolling fields; it was semi shaded.
I agree the facilities did look a bit in need of an update. The new side had the newer facilities but their location left you feeling a bit puzzled. I think that the modernisation of the toilets washing-up sinks and showers feels to have been done on the cheap. It would have been better had it been under cover with the facilities separated clearly. The older facilities felt dated and tired.
We didn't use the pool, which by the way is fenced and gated. There were plenty of deck chairs and tables around the pool. The bar/restaurant sold bread (if ordered), drinks and ices.
I think the price was over the top.
Local village has a butchers but the usual amenities were to be found in Le Molay-Littry.
The coastline is 15/20 mins away.
