Initial reactions to arrival at Broadlands Farm were - 'it's an industrial site!' Through the gates you are faced with a very large workshop looking building flanked by two ex-railway vans - used for storage.

The yard, road and pitches were black crushed stone and probably colliery waste - not enhancing that initial impression. Driving round the back we found a double row of pitches - each big enough for a unit, awning and a vehicle, and tree screened, with a large patch of grass at one end. We had the pitch next to this which was pleasant.

The facilities are contained within the aforementioned big building. Access - both to the site and facilities is by way of a fob swiped on a wall mounted pad. You need a £10 deposit for the fob.

The facilities were adequate, despite the site being full, and were always clean.

The majority of units on site appear to be long term placements, so getting a touring pitch was probably quite lucky. People that we spoke to all seemed quite friendly.

There is a bus stop outside the site drive, with a regular service to Wakefield and Leeds. The M1 (jjNT. 29)is only a mile away. The A636 is half that and wil take you to Wakefield in one direction, and Summer Wine country in the other. TV reception is excellent.

There is a large 24/7 ASDA store about 3/4 mile towards Wakefield, whist Durkar village has a fish & chip shop and two pubs, We didn't try them. There is a large garden centre on the A636 road near the village.

All in all our initial surprise turned to satisfaction as we got used to the 'ambience' and we have 'bookmarked' Broadlands Farm for future reference.

Excellent clean toilets and showers, level pitches, good site security, friendly and helpful staff, great dishwashing facilities, washer and dryer too. Highly recommended. Very close to an ASDA supermarket, on a bus route. Chemical toilet disposal and fresh water readily available.

I have just returned from this nice little site with everything you need to make this a pleasant stay. Pitches are all a good size and level and all have16 amp EHU even TV reception is good, the toilets and showers are very clean. There is plenty to do around the area and it is all easy to get to. There are supermarkets nearby and access into Wakefield very easy ether by car or bus. Nick the owner was pleasant when booking in and Bernie was always there to help if needed. We will return to this site because there is still lots to see.

Stayed here whilst alarm was fitted up the road at Rammobile. Although I found the site a little featureless the all hard standing pitches were large and secluded. Toilets/showers clean and functional with piped music. Barrier system in and out which gave a very secure feeling. Bus stop at end of drive to either Leeds or Wakefield. The village of Durkar can be walked to in about 10-15 mins which has two pubs(Red Kite and New Inn) and a chippie. Found the Red Kite to be quite upmarket with an extensive menu and a few real ales whilst the New Inn rather dowdy.

This is an excellent site with good facilities. The shower block and toilets were immaculate but were up two or three steps and this was not mentioned on the website. We may not have booked if this had been mentioned.

Apart from that everything is very good and near to bus stop and shops etc.

Lovely location and very friendly.

First visit to this site the toilet block was very clean and was cleaned regularly. It is described as adults only but there were a couple of caravans with kids, there doesn't appear to be any facilities for children. Close to Wakefield and several tourist attractions such as Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Xscape and Sandal Castle. There is an Asda Superstore about half mile away as well as several pubs and restaurants. We had a good meal at the Swan and Cygnet, Rinaldis is also very good. The site has a dog walk. The owner was really helpful and friendly. It seems a very popular site, it took us three attempts to get a pitch. We will definitely return.

We have stayed at this campsite for a number of years now as it is very handy for visiting family in Huddersfield and Denby Dale. We choose it especially because it's adult only and therefore quieter and suits our needs. The owners and staff are extremely helpful and accommodating.

The toilet facilities are excellent. There are two toilets and two good sized showers in both the female and male sections. They are kept spotlessly clean and there is always toilet paper and hand soap available and electric hand dryers. Having the piped music is also very good for privacy purposes! The pitches are all hard standings with ample room for awning and car.

Although we always used our car there is a bus stop directly outside the front gate. The 24 hour Asda is very useful. There are some good pubs and a very nice Italian restaurant nearby. The park with the lake and castle ruins is a lovely place to walk.

The campsite is very easy to reach from the M1 and only 5minutes away. There's a little bit of road noise but it's not much and it doesn't really disturb. The only negatives from our point of view is the lack of a washing up area and no Wifi (but I believe the general area is very difficult for Wifi - the owners have looked into it. Maybe in the future!).

We will definitely be back for our annual visit next year and for the foreseeable future.

We stayed at Broadlands over the Easter period. Nice welcome. This is an adult site which suited us. Our pitch was fine, the owners had newly planted hedging either side of pitches on the piece we were pitched on. The shower/toilet facilities were immaculate and regularly supervised. The site was close to various walks and a bus just outside the main gate took you into Wakefield town centre.

Would visit again if in this area.

Spent 7 nights on this secure site and could have easily stayed longer. A really lovely spotlessly clean site and so well looked after. The hard standing pitches were of a good size, which accommodated a large safari room, with plenty space left over. The privacy of the high hedges surrounding the pitch also gave brilliant protection from the wind.

The proud owners were very friendly and helpful and if any further information was required all you had to do was ring the bell. On arrival was shown the warm facilities which were immaculate and consisted of two large sized hot shower cubicles (with stool and plenty of hooks) and two toilets in both ladies and gents. It was a nice touch to listen to the radio playing on entry into the shower block. A washing machine was available at a reasonable cost of £3, but didn't need to use it.

The electricity supply was excellent and caused no problems whatsoever on using various appliances together.

It was a huge bonus to have the bus on site into Wakefield and Leeds and in the opposite direction to Barnsley. It was a hop, skip and jump to walk to the massive 24 hour Asda and good old Aldi was lurking there too! Plenty of buses could also be picked up from Asda.

All in all, a credit to the owners. A truly highly recommended first class quiet adult only site and so competitively priced. No prizes for guessing who will be back again at the earliest opportunity!

Spent two weeks here as it was closest site to my son's wedding venue.

A well laid out private site. A large green grass area runs the length between the two main pitch areas. We pithched nose first giving us a grass view.

Each pitch is very private and separated from the next by a row of fir trees.

Sat tv worked well.

Excellent security. Electronic swipe entry and exit.

Very clean private toilet and showers. Piped music for privacy.

Main Wakefield Asda down the road.

Centrally placed for many pubs and restaurants.

Bargain pricing makes this a must stay place. A C&CC listed site. Reasonable dog walk. Also Pugney country park round the corner.

An adult only site.
