We stayed here for 1 night on a Friday. We arrived quite late but we were still welcomed by a lovely lady who was very helpful and explained everything to us. The site is in the middle of no where which you have to drive through some narrow and bumpy farm lanes so if you have a low car you may have a problem. However the field was really big with gorgeous views over pontardawe and Neath area. There was only another 2 tents in the whole of the field so it wasn't noisy or cramped. We pitched our tent on the opposite side of the field to the others and the owners house so didn't have to worry about being quiet. We stayed up late and had music on quietly and this wasn't a problem. They have a shower room and toilets free to use and also a gift shop. They give you a free fire pit but if you want to buy logs its cost £6 per bag so recommended to take your own as they burn quickly and won't last longer than a few hours. All in all we had a great stay and would definitely go back there again with a group of friends.

Absolutely loved our 3 night stay at this campsite. As soon as you enter the field your jaw drops at the view in front of you.
It is a steep/rough track going up to the field, but definitely worth it.
The toilets/shower were very clean. There's the option of using compost toilets which didn't smell at all!
It's a basic campsite, which offers everything you need for back to nature camping. It is so peaceful, and perfect to relax away from the city. And only £6pppn! Amazing!
The owners are wonderful - so friendly and welcoming. Linda gave us two boxes of her chickens eggs for free. And you can get a lot of logs for £6, which come with kindling and fire starters!
We drove to swansea one day and the gower on another day.
I wish we stayed longer but the rain was setting in so packed up a day early!
I absolutely loved it there and will definitely be back!

I love this site! Just returned from my second visit and I cannot sing it's praises too much!
The owners Peter and Linda are friendly and helpful and the little shop that Linda runs is a delight, with mostly hand-crafted souvenirs.
Getting to the site is a little bumpy, but follow the instruction given by the owners, take it steady and you'll have no trouble.
The facilities are basic, yes, but there are toilets, a shower and a drinking water tap. What more do you need? True, there isn't a playground but there is a big open field for kids to run around in.
The views are spectacular, it is quiet and peaceful, surrounded by wildlife and when the skies are clear at night, there is very little light pollution, so take your telescope or binoculars and gaze with awe at stars like you've never seen before!
What more can I say? If you're looking for peace and serenity, if you like to be surrounded by nature, if you like a spectacular view, if you like star-gazing, you can't go wrong at Tir Abbey!

We stayed here while attending a wedding in Swansea. Great site location, and fantastic owners.
But be aware the facilities are limited, some compost toilets, but does have a toilet block. One shower, no running hot water (other than shower), no electric hookup, if you read the description this is all made clear! The access to the site is rustic to say the least, single unmade track, not to be attempted with anything bigger than a small camper. Is at least a 10-15 minute drive to nearest facility.
But for all that, the location is stunning, owners were very, very helpful. Especially liked the firewood pack (fire lighters, kindling, and logs), along with a fire pit if you need one. The local duck eggs were delicious too. Little shop has essentials (including the cork screw which we forgot!)
Great, but, be prepared to go back in time and remote, wild(ish) camping!

We stayed at Tir Abbey Farm following our daughters' wedding, and had an amazing time.
The site is pretty basic, and the road to it would definitely not take a caravan (!), but it is well worth it for the spectacular views.
You can pitch your tent so that you look out over the whole Swansea Valley, and it was an endlessly changing and extremely beautiful scene.
The owners are lovely, and there is none of the health & safety nonsense that some campsites seem to delight in - just common sense. The facilities are fairly basic, but we were offered a free brazier so that we could have a fire, and they sell sacks of firewood with free kindling bundles and firelighters thrown in.
There is a small shop where Linda sells marshmallows (with free skewers!), and free range eggs from their own chickens & ducks. She also sells some souvenirs, such as Welsh love spoons.
There is a small block with two toilets and an electric shower, which was slightly underpowered, but sufficient to keep clean. It was kept clean and tidy, and soap was provided.
There is not a massive amount for kids to do - just a big field with plenty of space. We found it totally relaxing and enjoyed visiting Henrydd Waterfalls at the base of the Brecons.
There is amazing mobile phone reception on top of the hill, and a cluster of small towns and villages with some big supermarkets for supplies. We didn't bother with a pub, just sat outside our tent and enjoyed the scenery and a glass of wine.
We will definitely be going back.

Just returned from August bank holiday 4 night stay. Every positive comment, both here and on camp website found to be true. This is how camping used to be and this mountain top site will appeal to anyone that just needs a field to pitch on and not much else. Everything kept in tip top order and the welcome could not have been more friendly. The site was busy, but the vast field was far from crowded and all campers, young and not so young, were on their very best behaviour. The views are breathtaking all around as claimed and the nearest shop really is 3 miles away. If you live a high pressure life with attendant stress and strain, a few days here will put you right.

Beautiful location on the top of a hill with breath taking panoramic views. The flushable toilets were very clean. The compost toilet was also very clean and didn't smell at all. The shower was only a bit of a trickle but still was very clean and hot.
The owners were lovely and very helpful. Loved that you could have a camp fire. Two large tescos very near by.
All in all a great spot that we didn't want to leave, loved it.

A warm welcome given by the pleasant owners. Spectacular views and wildlife to be seen(red kites, buzzards) A peaceful and relaxing stay, minimalistic, and ideal for those wishing for a quiet retreat.
Facilities are two compost toilets which were very clean and tidy and a freshwater standpipe.
Field is very well kept and free of debris, giving plenty of confidence to walk barefoot and to allow your children to play freely.
I shall definitely visit this campsite again.

This is truly a beautiful campsite with amazing views. It is located on the top of a hill (quite steep track up to it!) Good views of the Brecons and even the sea from the field.
My children loved the space and views and the compost toilets - though we were sad to hear they are planning to install 'proper' toilets next year.
It is very much a back to basics campsite with no showers or washing up, but lovely clean water and very friendly owners who were very helpful. They lent us a brazier and the children were delighted to melt their marshmallows over the fire.
All in all would love to go back but maybe avoid august in case of groups.
