Lovely campsite set in beautiful grounds. Quiet village and no noise from traffic. Heavenly. Toilet block, showers, and washing up facilities were all excellent and kept very clean. Pitches were sectioned off with low hedges. Really friendly atmosphere, lady running the site was just lovely. Brilliant Carrefour supermarket about ten minutes away, sells fuel as well. Location of campsite very good for visits to Somme memorials and war cemeteries. Miss it already and can't wait to go back.

We used this site as a stop over as it is close to the A6 and we wanted to visit Amiens during the evening. The site is easy to find and less than 10 minutes from both the autoroute and Amiens.
The camp site is very well kept including the clean wash block. Other than a children's play area the site has minimal facilities. The pitches are flat and are laid out within what was probably the wall garden or orchard of the chateau. We had booked a pitch previously over the internet and a marked place awaited us in a very good spot. The lady in the reception was very helpful and lent us an extension as our lead was not long enough for the hookup.
The village doesn't have anything to offer other than peace and quiet, and maybe a nice stroll. Amiens is a short drive and you will find a good choice of restaurants and the usual supermarkets.
We liked the camp site and hope to return for a longer stay where we will visit other nearby attractions and the war memorials.

Just returned today from 5 days at this site and have been really pleased with it.
Just 33 pitches set amongst fruit trees with 3 toilets and showers each for men and women and then 2 separate shower / toilet units for 'handicapped' people which you can also use. We could always use the toilet and/ or shower when needed. Facilities were clean, showers hot and loo roll provided!
There is a tiny play area with 4 pieces of equipment so not a site if you have very active children expecting a big play area.
Site was quiet, other campers friendly and considerate ( a lot of Dutch campers whom we find quiet and friendly on the whole!). We had pitch number 4, I would recommend pitches 2- 9 as along the bottom is a fairly busy road and there would be road noise there.
No soap in toilets so bring own hand wash and you need a two pin adapter for the electric hookup - we spent ages trying to buy one locally, then discovered for a 20 euro deposit you can borrow one from Reception
The local village is very french and peaceful - hard to believe we were just 4 hours from our doorstep! Bread van at 8 am very welcome.
The site does get very full every evening but by 9 o'clock most people have moved on so we had the showers and loos without queues. We didn't experience noisy departures most people hooked up the night before and left quietly.
I would definitely return again and I am very fussy ! There is a lot to do locally and this site is a lovely haven.
You must be prepared to speak some french however as the lady on reception does not speak English.
Oh and you can only pay in cash and you need to have a passport or drivers licence for them on arrival.
Think that's it - hope you all enjoy the site as much as we did - vey depressing to leave the sun and hit the rain at Dover !

Super rural French site next to an impressive but not famous chateau (which can be visited at 5. 30pm each day with a guide). Site is set in an orchard and has lovely large pitches. Lots of people stop for one night but as many choose to have a longer break so it is not like a port site. Half an hour away from WW1 sites; best ones to see are Thiepval and Newfoundland Memorials. The War Museum in Albert is very dated. Bertangles is a delightful quiet village. Nearest shop (Carrefour) is in Villers Bocage a short drive away. Baker van comes to site 8am avery day. Amiens Cathedral is worth a visit and the Summer Son et Lumiere show is amazing; only the French know how to do this stuff so well. Don't miss it. 45 mins away from la Manqueterre bird sanctuary also very worthwhile visiting. Best to book this site on phone or email and you need to do it in French. They have a reservation system that is non-computerised and very efficient. Lovely friendly owners and many people return.

After studying choice of campsite for weeks before departure this was to be our main destination for our first trip to France with our caravan. I have to say though that it ended up our least favourite of the 4 sites we used. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and our reserved pitch was waiting for us, on hindsight we should have opted for another pitch further back from the '1 night stopover area'. We got sorted and went out for an explore of the surrounding area and some food shopping, when we returned about 5pm it was like coming into a different site, very very busy with people pitching all over the place, felt like we were on a motorway service area and was not at all restful. Facilities were adequate but really struggled to cope with volume of use, so whilst they may manage to stay clean when site quiet, they quickly went downhill due to sheer numbers using them, including campers 'out on the street' who could not get on site so just parked up alongside. All the over-nighters left early the next day and there were a couple of quiet hours before the afternoon rush started again.
I thought we could access the chateau grounds during the day, but this was only at a charge and the laundry consisted of 2 Belfast sinks with no plugs. Am sure the site is lovely when quiet but obviously best to avoid the weekends. We left after 2 nights.

We stayed at the chateau at Bertangles for 2 nights & really enjoyed our stay. We booked in advance & were given a grassed pitch, hedged on 2 sides for privacy. The campsite is in the chateau's orchard, which in itself was very pretty & the trees offered welcome shade too.
The shower/ toilets/ washing up areas were all clean & well maintained. There was also a small children's play area.
The reception was open on 3 occasions each day & sold wine, milk, the estates own walnuts & Picardy honey. I believe a bread van also visited, but we didn't use this.
We joined an evening chateau tour ( at €5 per adult) which was good & conducted in English & French.
The village of Bertangles was v pretty, but the only downside was that it was a bit remote. We'd hoped to get a bus into Amiens, but as it was during the French holiday season there was only one running from Bertangles at 7am with no return bus. However, we took our camper into Amiens & found good parking in the St Leu area.
Overall it was a lovely site & we really enjoyed our 2 very relaxing nights there.

On the basis of the extremely positive reviews, we booked 2 nights for 2 adults and a tent (no electricity) for €15/night. It's definitely worth pre-booking as this guaranteed a delineated, reserved pitch. We saw late arrival caravans pitched on the road outside the site!
The site is spacious and well kept and all toilet and wash facilities were clean with plenty of hot water. However a chemical waste emptying area seemed just a little too close to the crockery washing area! Two separate cubicles are reserved for physically challenged individuals.
Don't miss the €5/adult guided tour of the chateau at 5:30pm each evening (payment and tour start at reception). It's a wonderful opportunity to see inside (still lived in) and to hear of it's role within WW1. It transpired that the guide was the owner himself who provided the commentary in English!
The village cafe/bar provided a very pleasant diversion after the chateau visit for a Kir and draught Affligem strawberry flavoured beer: excellent.
We spent our available 1 day as tourists visiting Amiens (the cathedral is amazing), Albert (Excellent museum giving insight into WW1 history and Somme battlefields: http://www. Somme-trench-museum. Co. Uk/) and some of the cemeteries and memorials.
We would definitely return to this site both for convenience as a last stop before channel crossing and to stay longer and have a longer immersion in local history and culture.

We stayed here with our caravan for two nights to experience France on the 14th July Bastille Day celebrations at the start of our holiday.
We were not disappointed. The site was easy to find, well signposted and very well laid out. The pitches were large, ours being a hedged one giving nice privacy and plenty of room for the caravan, awning and car. Most of the pitches were like this with a few being open but still having a large pitch. We also had an electricity point and water tap close by.
The facilities were spotlessly clean and the lady at reception very helpful and put up with my very poor French. She invited us to join in with the village celebrations for 14th July and we joined the Mayor and a lot of villagers in a ceremony at the war memorial at lunchtime, followed by free wine and cake at the village cafe. We were also invited to the evening lantern procession around the streets which ended with a firework display at the village school.
We didn't hear any road noise and the site was quiet and very peaceful. All in all a lovely start to our holiday.

This is an excellent site in a really pretty location. The pitches were well marked out for our arrival as we like others on previous reviews had booked beforehand.
The facilities were clean although we found the water was not always hot when washing up and the electric hook up cut off in the evening once everyone had plugged into the points.
Our french is quite limited and the lady who booked us in spoke no english, this was not to much of a problem as we had booked.
A really small and quiet site with good size pitches which allowed our three year old to play ball and run around safely. We would return here again in the future.

We booked this campsite in advance, which meant we had one of the hedged pitches and our name was attached to the reserve post prior to our arrival. We think non-booked pitches are those in a more open area near the entrance, opposite the toilet block, which seemed to accommodate the late comers. The lady who checked us in spoke no English but was very pleasant and efficient. The bureau sells wine and beverages but no groceries. A bread van calls at 8. 00 am every morning. The site has around 33 pitches with a mix of ‘vans, caravans and tents and is immediately next to a chateau. Guided tours in French and English take place in the evening at 5. 30 pm for 5 Euros, during the summer months.
The site is very attractive, with mature trees and a modern toilet and services block that is kept spotlessly clean. The site was busy during our stay but the facilities were never crowded. There is electric hook-up, and the shared posts also provide night lamps. A long lead is advised. The site is gated at 10. 00 pm. A bell in the nearby church chimes the hours but very gently. The site is within the village, which has an interesting variety of residential buildings. The church and chateau provide historical focuses. The village square only offers a café/bar and a bus stop. On the Wednesday of our stay there was a vegetable stall near the bus stop. We took the number 50 bus into the commercial centre, a vast out-of-town shopping area, and then a number 9 into Amiens, but we had problems returning. After waiting for the number 50 bus for an hour or so, we learned that this bus does not officially run during the holiday period and we ended up getting al lift back to the site in a bus-company mini bus that had been hired by others. There is parking for ‘vans at St Leu in Amien, so driving there is probably a better option.
Apart from Amiens Cathedral, apparently the largest in France, there is the pedestrianised area of St Leu with its riverside cafes and restaurants. There are pleasant walks from the site and easy cycling. The site is dog friendly and there is a small play area for children. We stayed three nights and felt very comfortable and at ease there, despite the weather, which was mainly overcast, cool and showery. I would readily return to this site. The pitch with electric hook-up cost 18 Euros for two people per night.
