What can I say that hasn't already been said? I agree with all the other reviews.
This site is a little gem! Pre booking is a MUST as very busy for overnight stops as close to ferry and tunnels. It was about 1 1/2 drive at 75 to tunnel.
The only negative is the site has lots of mice! It hasn't been mentioned before, but I'm presuming that you wouldn't notice in a caravan especially if you are on a stop over (like most people) or if you are pitching in the middle as more 'traffic'. We were at the bottom by the road and saw several mice in the pitch marker hedges and also in the front of our tent!(luckily we have a separate porch bit where we cooked to our main bathtub living area). These mice did amuse our 3yr old but hygiene precautions are needed especially in a tent!
Would I stay again? YES

Stayed at this site on our way down south and again on our return. We had booked in advance, which we found to be advisable as it is very popular. The lady in the bureau speaks very little English so it helps to have a bit of French! She is very helpful, and if the office is closed, will place identifying markers on your pitch. Pitches are a decent size but could do with a bit of weeding. However, this didn't detract from the pleasant ambiance of the place. The toilet/shower block was always clean and there was no queueing. The only slight downside is that because it gets very, very full from 5pm onwards, you do get people walking across your pitch, so don't expect total privacy! Incidentally on our return journey there was only one other British couple - this seems to be a favourite with the Dutch, who arrive en masse! We will return next year.

We spent two nights here to visit The Somme on the 95th anniversary of the battle. The site was lovely
Clean toilets and good pitches(better to book as we did). The site was almost full both nights.
No hesitation in recommending this wee gem.
The lady who ran the site was very helpful, when we arrived our pitch was reserved by a marker.
There was road noise at the bottom of the campsite
But did not bother us as we were 1/2 way down.
We wanted to be near to Albert, and Contalmaison in particular so was very handy.

Lots of positives about this site, such as the decent shower block, and invitation to use the disabled ones, which are lovely wetrooms.
I was given a pitch near to the road, which was used by tractors, and had very noisy neighbours, so the first night turned out to be the worst one of my entire holiday. I asked to move to a quieter pitch, but that was refused, which I found disappointing.
The least good site of my holiday, and the most expensive. Maybe I was just very lucky elsewhere.

Myself & my girlfriend stayed here in May 2011. We found the campsite through this website as we wanted to be based near Amiens. We also wanted to be quite near the ferry ports because we'd travelled from Dover to Calais. It was around a 2 hour drive from Calais.
The campsite itself is great. In a beautiful little village called Bertangles, situated a few miles from Amiens. The campsite is next to a large chateau, hence the name of the campsite being 'Camping du Chateau'.
There are several spaces for tents, caravans and camper vans. The toilet/shower block is very good. In the male section there was 2 showers, a few toilet cubicles and some sink cubicles for shaving/brushing teeth.
If you plan on sleeping in, make sure you pitch away from the main road at the bottom of the camp site, as you get motorcyclists occasionally travelling at fast speeds. The majority of the people there were Dutch, a good thing! :-)
The reception was open for a couple of hours, firstly in the morning and then around 5pm. There was a very helpful lady working in there. Her English is very basic so you will need to communicate in French if you can speak it.
The reception contains helpful information such as maps of the local areas. They also sell things like wine, milk and eggs here. If I remember rightly, it was around 28 euros for myself and my girlfriend to stay here in total for 2 nights.
We stayed here two nights and found the site very peaceful. We took disposable BBQ's with us and had barbecues using produce from the local supermarkets. The reception lady told us not to set fire to the grass, which is understandable but I think if you are careful you can have a BBQ, but no fires.
The village is near to a Carrefour supermarket & petrol station. In the village there is a tabac that sells beers & cigarettes, but there isn't much else.
The village itself is typically rural French so ensure that you speak some French before going. There is a local bus stop that runs buses to Amiens. I recommend visiting Amiens if you have the time.
If we are in the Picardie area again, we will return to this site. It is excellent.

We had two wonderful nights here, and if we hadn't had to head elsewhere, we would have asked to extend our stay. We booked in advance, and were more than delighted when we arrived - it is a truly charming area with lovely pitches, separated by hedges and trees. Peaceful, quiet, perfect for visiting battlefields and cemeteries from the First World War. Easy access to Amiens, and even in the rain, none of the charm was lost!
Plenty of toilet facilities, using solar power. Excellent service from the reception, albeit all in French, but it's good to have a go! And the bakery van every morning, bar Sunday, was just brilliant.
Will most definitely return to this part of France and this lovely, quiet, beautiful site.

Stayed here for our first 3 nights in France and totally agree with all the previous positive comments.
This is our type of campsite - like staying in someone's garden/orchard, which indeed it is (belongs to the Château)! Office open limited hours, but as previously mentioned, if pre-booked (as you need to in high season, or arrive before the rush late afternoon) you find the pitch with the Reserved marker with your name on, otherwise, choose an empty pitch. The site was full each night of our stay, but remained quiet and peaceful. Mostly Dutch campers, with a few British, Belgians and French, and a wide variety of units, from cycle campers to large campervans, though mainly tents or smaller caravans.
The separate male/female toilets and showers were clean and well-maintained, with disabled facilities which others were free to use if necessary, though by avoiding 'peak' times we were often the only people in our respective shower blocks.
Access from the motorway/Amiens ringroad is straightforward and the site/Château well-signposted from the main road, and there are plenty of quiet country roads around the village without too many hills for us 'fair-weather' cyclists.
There is a decent sized supermarket (Carrefour Market) on the outskirts of the next village (Villers-Bocage) about 5kms away, and a Carrefour hypermarket straight down the N25 towards Amiens about 8kms in the other direction. (We got the cheapest diesel of our 3 week holiday from here, incidentally). A baker's van calls on the site each morning about 8am - a bit early for those of us stopping for a few days but good for those wanting an early start.
Most people used this site as a stopover, but there is plenty to do in the area, though you will need to use your vehicle to get out and about.
There is a small children's playarea and plenty of grassy space during the daytime but no pool, entertainment etc.
Any negatives? If we were being really picky, electricity only 5amp, wasps by the water stands and little insects around (no doubt attracted by the fruit trees) and I imagine the pitches and access tracks could get muddy in wet weather. However, in our opinion this is an excellent little site which is very good value for money and which we will definitely be visiting again.

Stayed here for six nights and although a peaceful site it was always full. We had booked and if the office is not open all you need do is find the reserved pitch with your name on it.
Each evening a number or cars, mobile homes and caravans were turned away.
Pre booked pitches are spacious.
It is a great place from which to explore the Somme.
All facilities clean and adequate for the size of the site.
Do not expect a bowling green lawn for your pitch - this is France and at 14 euros a night don't expect it to be like a Caravan Club site.
At the time of our visit the trees around us were laden with cherries.

Stayed seven nights on this lovely site, and already booked for next year!
The village of Bertangles is very quiet, with the one bar shut the whole time we were there. The first morning we woke up at 11.30am! Now that's my sort of quiet.
There is a good supermarket in Villiers Bocage, about three miles away, and a big hypermarket in Amiens, about 6 miles away. The small reception office had milk and veg and the 'bread man' came round in his little van every morning.
Easy to get to all of the Western Front sites, and the coast. No traffic problems at all, we were warned about the 'tour de france' racing in the area and planned our days out around these. Samara is a good day out, and the 1916 museum at Albert really worth a trip. Daily tours of the Chateau are well worth it, it is an amazing building with the (very) young guide knowledgeable and informative.
The toilet and shower facilities excellent, never had to wait, they were cleaned every day, and the only time I saw them dirty was when a woman with wellies on didn't wipe her feet and walked mud everywhere.
This is not a campsite for those who like entertainment, swimming pools etc - there isn't any! Also it is a campsite with a high turnover of visitors, many only staying for one night. One night we counted 37 tents and caravans, the next morning there were only ten! It is obviously a popular site for overnight journeys. So the chances are reduced of getting stuck next door to someone who is noisy.
In summary, a fantastic site if you like peace and quiet.

Stayed here for 3 nights on our way back home. Beautiful site in the grounds of the château, with very spacious pitches for both tents and caravans/motor homes, all with electric.
The toilet facilities for both men and women are more than adequate for the size of the site with 4 toilets, 2 showers, 4 sinks in each of the men and womens. 2 separate areas for washing dishes and 2 disabled toilets with shower in. Toilet block was always clean.
The bureau to check in is opposite the site entrance with a very polite french lady always willing to give advice about the area. Not much in the village just a small bar, however there's a large supermarket in the next village.
You can get the bus to Amiens from the village and costs 1.90 euro single, well worth a visit. A great base to explore the Somme with most sites around 30 mins drive, you can get all information at the bureau with maps etc.
I would definitely stay here again and at 15 euro a night with electric a great bargain.
