Me, brother & friend stayed here for 9 nights. The Site Manager was friendly & accommodating. The views north were outstanding. The local pub was nice but had limited opening hours. Location was excellent for tourist attractions. Facilities were good. Value for money was excellent. We had had a BBQ/family reunion one night with 10 of us around the fire which was so good the relatives intend to buy tents & join us when we come back next year. Special word for the Site Manager - top man. He & his livestock were hilarious at times & we were blessed with the arrival of a new-born foal which was enchanting. Bottom line - we're all coming back again!

This will be the third year of staying at this campsite and I never get sick of it.
Its in a great location with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Only 5 minutes drive from barnard castle which is ideal for a day out or if you need any essentials (great takeaways if you don't want to cook) :) also there is a pub within walking distance which has a lovely beer garden and would recommend their breakfasts.
One of my favourite things about this site is the fact you can have campfires and John the site owner always looks after us. Delivering logs when needed and any other problems we have had. Even on hand with jump leads when needed.
The toilet and shower block is always immaculate, basically have no complaints at all to mention.
Looking forward to some warm weather and will definitely be back at this campsite :)

Just got back from this campsite with my hubby an my four sons and we had a lovely weekend made even better by the fab weather. The owner was very friendly and always at hand from arriving to leaving. The facilities were very clean and we didn't have to queue either. The views from the site where lovely and the site is ideally situated to visit the surrounding areas such as barnard castle and richmond, and the hire of the fire pitts and the logs which were brought round daily for a small price of £2 a bag made it so warm an cosy on a night. The kids loved all the animals especially the goat which they named billy. We are looking forward to visiting this site again soon.

It was freezing cold -4 and the duke of Edinburgh had cancelled. We decided to take a chance and found ourselves on the site with snow and two young children under 6 yrs old.
Despite this we had a wonderful time. The fire puts and reasonably priced wood were burning all night.
The site owner was wonderful and helpful. Excellent facilities and very child friendly.
This was the second time I had been to this site and will return again.
Lots of things to see close by and handy for local amenities. 10/10 thanks.

What a great campsite, John is a great and helpful guy who is so friendly, the campsite is clean and has fabulous views.
The toilet facilities and shower is clean. Really reasonable.
You can hire fire pits for £2 and get a great bag of logs for £2, makes it feel like the real camping experience,
Will definitely be returning possibly within the next few weeks. Thanks again for making our stay pleasant

Back again for first time this year. Things prevented earlier camping. As always the owner is a brilliant guy to talk to and pass some time away. The campsite didn`t have it`s usual chickens but the owner went straight out to get a mother hen and a couple of chicks. Weather dampish but what the heck that`s camping.
Evenings spent under the stars, well maybe they were clouds. Just wanted to get away from the Jubilee rubbish and chilling next to the blazing firepit was spot on. This camping as it should be. Amazing views.
Clean shower toilet area with hot water and it`s free of charge. Ground may be a bit uneven but that's all part of the character and I wouldn`t change that at all. A66. Yes you hear traffic at dead of night but you get used to it quickly. I will be back as soon as I can.

Just spent 4 days at this site and have to say we were not disappointed. The site is a bit uneven however there are flat places to pitch.
However the pluses far out weigh this. The owner is extremely helpful and friendly. Camp fires can be hired and logs bought from him at £2. Views are spectacular.
Facilities are very clean and the only down side is that there is only one shower, though this is electric and free. There are additional facilities available when the caravan is not hired out though.
At £30 for a 3 night stay it is a bargain -I have paid a lot more than this for poorer sites. Would definitely go back to this site in the future.

Went to this site with another family weekend of 23-25 September and were the only people camping so had field to ourselves. On a bit of a slope but as we had the pick of the field we managed to find some reasonably level spots.
Views over Barnard castle and Countryside beautiful. You can hear the traffic from the A66 but its not intrusive. You notice the cows mooing more! Nice to have the chickens roaming about and the Romany Caravans were intriguing to the kids.
The farmer was more than accommodating and since we were his only visitors he let us use the Romany caravan facilities for showering and toilets.
The water pipe in the field is very slow flowing and whilst it wasn't an issue because it wasn't busy, it would have caused large queues in the busy periods. We were not aware of chemical disposal on the site or a manhole and no potwashing.
However the fact it allows fires is fabulous and the provision of firepits at £2 is excellent value and £2 per bag of wood. Free, hot and well flowing showers were very welcome.
Nearby pub accessible via road or across the fields. Barnard Castle 5 minute drive away and very charming.
Ideal for us being an hours drive away. We visited High force waterfall, about a 30 minute drive and spectacular. Will return to this site in the future.

A gem of a campsite! Yes it is basic, yes you can hear the traffic of the A66, yes the site is uneven. But we had an amazing weekend! The owner is the friendliest and laid back host I have met, which added to our fab weekend.
We were a group of three families, with small children (age 6). They didn't need a play park to keep them entertained; the chickens, horses and trees to climb kept them occupied. The owner also took some of the children on a pony ride (which they loved).
The view across the Barnard Castle and the surrounding countryside was lovely (especially to wake up to)!
The open fire a major plus…. Especially as the wood was so cheap (£2 per bag and the owner delivers it to you). ,
When we stayed, the Romany caravan encampment was not in use so we had access to the block designed for the encampment as well the more basic one for the campsite!
The block for the encampment is much better equipped, hot water for washing up, a fridge etc and gave access to an additional shower and toilet. The facilities for the campers (if the Romany campsite is in use) are basic- two toilets, a hot shower and a sink with access to cold water. This didn’t bother us but may be a problem for others. All I can say is that they were spotlessly clean!
The Romany caravans are lovely and we are thinking about returning and hiring the encampment when you can have full use of the two small Romany caravans (an adult one and a child’s one, space to pitch a tent, your own fire and exclusive access to a service block which includes fridge, microwave, shower and toilet).
We went to the pub in Boldron…. Food excellent would strongly recommend!
All in all a fabulous stay, the kids had a great time…. Basic camping, at a super price, at its best!

We are a family of four and have just spent a lovely few days at this campsite. John the owner could not have been more friendly or helpful.
It was great to be able to have a campfire every night, the fire pit and logs were provided at a very reasonable rate. The view from our tent was wonderful and we particularly enjoyed animal watching (horses, sheep, rabbits and hens) the hens roosted in the nearby tree every night.
The toilets and showers were easily accessible, even in the middle of the night if needed. They were free to use, which is nice to find and were kept clean and tidy and we never had to queue.
Barnard Castle can be seen from the campsite and is a lovely market town with every facility you could need.
In the town we enjoyed good fish and chip suppers at very reasonable prices and very large take away pizzas.
A good location for touring the area. It is next to the busy A66 but we hardly noticed this during our stay.
