Great stop-over, good clean facilities, helpful staff. I agree, slightly unusual to find first time but having stayed several times now seems easy!
Aldi on same road and a Lidl at the end of the road for convenience. The man who runs it told me they are open until 10pm for late arrivals? the office is normally open from 8am.
His English improves each year! Wish I could say the same about my French!
The pitches at the bottom of the site never seem completely full even in high season.
Large supermarket around the corner which is convenient for cheap petrol/diesel on the way back to the motorway.

Another good review for this municipal. Good campsite in nice location 15 mins walk form cambrai centre.
Chain steak restaurant is conveniently located at camping entrance.
Clean and well tended with the necessary facilities to enjoy an economic 12 euro night.
Good for stopover (15 mins from A26), we stayed for 5 nights.
Also 130 kms form calais so easily reached in one day from London.
I agree, however, that clearer signage would be helpful.

This is a lovely little site, 12 euros50 per night (including 10 amp electric), very quiet and nowhere near full any of the 3 nights we were there. It seems mostly used for stopovers with 3 or 4 more long-term residents when we were there and mostly French, Belgian and German campers.
The pitches are grassy, a good size and divided by hedges and well-maintained by the town's Parks Department. The electric hook-ups, water points and waste water disposal are conveniently placed and serve 4 pitches each, with a tap for each pitch.
It's a basic site in that there's no pool, entertainment, play area to speak of or catering (there is a Buffalo Grill across the road) but it has a lovely feel to it and suited us down to the ground.
The office was open in the morning and 4pm-ish onwards, but if it is closed, just site yourself and go back when the office is open. The site manager is friendly and helpful and can speak English.
The toilets, showers and dish-washing and laundry sinks are near the entrance and are modern and spotlessly clean, though the showers could have been a touch warmer. One of the two toilets and showers in each block is adapted for disabled visitors. The motorhome service point and separate chemical disposal point are here also.
Although there is a web-site, the pictures and limited information on it certainly do not do the site justice. Beware also that despite an e-mail address being listed I did not get any reply to the various e-mails that I sent and ended up phoning the site to make a booking. However, even in peak season there was plenty of space and I get the impression that this is the norm, so I don't think you would need to book.
Cambrai itself is a lovely little town and different from many French towns in that the architecture has a definite Flemish influence. The back wall of the Palace cinema is also worth a look as it has been painted to look like a film set! The people in the Tourist Information Office were extremely helpful. It was highly entertaining (especially as we had cycled into town) to watch the traffic negotiating the road around the huge main square as the 'priority from the right' rule still applies there - it was like a smaller version of the Arc de Triomphe roundabout in Paris! Cambrai and the area was heavily involved in the fighting in WW1 and there are war cemeteries and memorials in and around the town though we did not visit on this occasion.
The only problem we had was finding the site - it is signposted, better from some directions than others, but most of the signposts in Cambrai (not just for the campsite) seem really faded and not easy to make out. It is on the outskirts of town, just off the St. Quentin road, at the end of a dead-end on the right, and the entrance looks like someone's driveway! It is well worth the effort of finding it though, if what you want is a quiet site with good sized grassy pitches and clean, modern showers and toilets, within walking/cycling distance of an interesting little town with cycle paths along the canal.
Definitely one to return to!

We have used this site twice once in 2008 and again in 2009. Perfect position for last site on way home or as we plan next year first site. We just turned up last year no problems with 4 caravans although the back part of the site is tight for twin axle vans such as ours. Facilities are very clean and modern although basic. The Buffulo grill just across the road from the site provides easy facilities if you do not want to cook. The site reception staff were very friendly and spoke English.
Small children's play area on site and easy walking distance to town shops and canal area.
Definitely recommend this site for short stops. Location is perhaps mystifying but once you have turned down the dead end road you are committed. Site on right through what appears to be a house driveway.
