We have just got back from this wonderful site, we were a little worried about the reviews regarding the facilities, however we as a family of four and our friends a family of four never found it a problem.

Friendly site with plenty of pitch room for my rather large trailer tent in the lower field and the fish and chip van on monday night is a bonus.

The views are amazing across the sea and are more breathtaking when the sun sets( if you get the sun that is).

An early evening walk to Chapel Porth is a must.

And if you can visit a nearby pub called the Victory Inn.

We are booking for next year already.

We had our first camping holiday at this site last year and decided to return for a longer stay. It is without doubt a lovely site that I want to love, but it is let down by limited facilities that need to be brought up to date urgently.

The site itself is beautifully maintained with stunning views. Some parts of the site are quite exposed, but we were in a more sheltered location. Last year it was very quiet, but this year there were a group of older kids who played a chasing game every night which involved charging round the site and hiding behind tents and caravans. Although they tended to stop at about 10pm they did keep the little ones awake. I guess however this is less the fault of the owners than the parents.

Unfortunately we had at different times during the fortnight to queue for toilets, showers, washing up, the washing machine and the tumble dryer. Although the facilities were always clean the drainage didn't seem to be adequate with one small gents toilet block constantly smelling of sewage. This site was rated 4 stars according to the sign by the gate, and the facilities unfortunately don't seem to match this rating.

Other frustrations included only being able to get freezer blocks between 9 and 10am and that the play area didn't have enough for young kids.

Overall the excellent presentation of the site highlights the weakness of the facilities, but I would recommend nonetheless.

 Plus points

The view from the lower field - fantastic.

Very quiet.

We didn't have kids with us but the playground area looked good.

The location is great with good access to footpaths and the coastal path.

Minus points

Lack of facilities - there was only one gents WC available and one which I think was male/female. This was a bit awkward at the quiet time we went but in peak season it will be a nightmare.

The layout of the pitches was a bit vague, people didn't really now where the boundaries were which could be a problem when the site is full.

The electrical point were a fair way apart so it's best to have a long lead.

As with a lot of sites, it would be handy to be give an information sheet with a map of the site showing disposal points etc.

The pictures of the site don't do it justice - the views are amazing. The pitch sizes were good in the field we were in. (Ramps were needed although plenty of bricks available.)

My main grumble with the site were the lack of facilities. Only 4 showers and 4 loos for ladies which in peak season meant queues. And only two dish washing sinks! I've never had to queue to wash up before! That said they were all kept very clean considering the site was full and weather was typically British!

The 'shop' only sells milk & eggs although St Agnes is only a 5 minute drive and has e lovely bakery there. A fish & chip van visits the site on Mondays, and they were good too!

The play area was basic but kept the kids out of mischief for 5 minutes!

It is a gorgeous area with lovely beaches and outstanding views. And although I thought the fees were quite high I think they are probably fairly typical for the location and season. We'd definitely visit the area again.

Lovely area with gorgeous views from some pitches over the rugged Cornish coast. The starry sky needs to be seen and the fish and chip van on a Monday night is a must!

The site all seemed rather cramped - small pitches, only 2 sinks for washing up, tiny showers which got dirty rather quickly. Families must remember to ask for a key to the family room which has much better facilities.

There was a playground which the children loved, but care needed to be taken for children getting there via the drive on the working farm. Think the shop only sold eggs!

This is such a lovely site that I didn't want to leave a review in order to keep it a secret! However, this site deserves such high praise, it would be unkind not to share it.

We live locally &, as the forecast was so good, wanted somewhere close to home just for the weekend (Fri & Sat nights). We loved it so much we ended up commuting to work & staying until the Wednesday morning.

The owners couldn't be more helpful. The toilet/shower block was always clean & there were sufficient loos and showers for everyone (at least in the ladies). This may not be in the case in high season. Hot water was plentiful at all times. The site was extremely clean & tidy & the owners had clearly taken a lot of care with the plants & flowers. The washing up area & laundry were in their own room - so completely under cover. The same room also had lots of information on just about everything going on in Cornwall. We didn't use the shop at all so can't comment.

The site is divided into a couple of large fields (that have fantastic views but are exposed to the weather) and several, very sheltered, smaller ones. One of the small camping areas had a chicken coop with free range chickens wandering around - cute!
Although we don't have children, the play equipment looked like huge fun for kids over 4 but looked a bit too big for toddlers. The field we were in had uninterrupted views along the coast to Godrevy Lighthouse. Inland, to the left, was Carn Brea (a hill with neolithic & bronze age remains) & to the right was St Agnes Beacon (a lovely hill to climb). The view to the front was uninterrupted sea & sky. The sunsets were unbelievable! A public footpath runs along the access road to the site & the coast path is just across the road.
The pitch sizes were very generous & the grass was kept just the right length. There were recycling bins for everything - even leftovers for the chickens.

The noisiest thing about this site was the birds. A persistent cuckoo at dawn is worse than an alarm clock - and you can't switch it off! A fish & chip van visits the site on Tuesday evenings.
The site is about 2 miles from St Agnes (nearest pub & restaurants) so not really suitable if you want lively nightlife but not the expense of cabs back afterwards.
However, if you want somewhere really quiet with what have to be some of the best views in the world, then this is the place for you. We will be going back in September.

Truly fantastic location, slightly off the beaten track and away from the 'chav' centres. But fantastic for surfers, walkers and family campers alike. Although facilities are well maintained they were stretched beyond capacity during our stay. I did queue for 20 minutes waiting for a shower which I suppose you're going to get if everyone decides to have a shower at the same time. But one washing machine and one dryer were inadequate for the size of the site.

The owners were very approachable and helpful. I should add that they do know how to charge for staying at such an area of outstanding natural beauty, but folks are obviously happy to pay.

Just not a million miles away from a last minute package deal to the med. So big money for staying in a tent. Enjoy.

We went here at the begining of August. The site is made up of around six seperate fields. Reception sells papers, milk, eggs and gas .For everything else you have to go in to st agnes which is about 2 miles away. Toilets and showers are very clean but I think they could do with a few more. There is a laundry room but only has one washer and one dryer. The surrounding area is stunning with the tin mines and heather in full bloom combined with beautiful sunsets there were some nice photos to be had. Chapel porth beach is near by but not as near as we thought. The weather wasnt vey good lots of rain so ground very muddy. We still had a lovely time.

We were at this camp site for 2 weeks and for most of it so was the rain! The site has some really wonderful views, and is very clean in the showers and toilets. The laundry room has 1 washing machine & 1 dryer too, but seen better days.

We were 4ft (1.2m) from a water tap, (used to wash wet suits, sauce pans etc ) that had no drain, just spilled onto the grass under our tent ! and we were 20yds (about 18 m) from the children's unfenced play area! .

We did have a great time, the weather did not stop us

We have stayed here in August for the last 2 years, it is a most beautiful site and we were in Goose Field which gives excellent view of the sunset which is also just a short walk across the road for a better view along the coastal path.

Lovely bread for sale in the morning.

Shower blocks and laundry facilities are clean and plenty of hot water.

Nice size pitches with electric hook up available.

Owners lovely and were very helpful last year when my son was taken ill and we had to call a doctor.

Very accessible to the Eden Project, excellent surf beaches nearby, if you want something safer for smaller children Carbis Bay is only a short drive away.

Butchers in St Agnes sell locally sourced meat.

Spar Shop stocks almost anything you could want or there is a Tesco in Redruth.
