Love this site so quiet and tranquil

Site clean and well kept so are the shower and toilets

Staff so friendly and helpful

Only one complaint the doggy doo bins

On the woodland overflowing and not been emptied in a long time,

The flies and the smell spoilt it for me

But hopefully this will be rectified

And yes we will return

Stayed on this site over the Easter Break, very nice, quite too, nice large pitches with hard standing. Easy to fill and empty grey. The weather was dry and some sun, and not too busy so a peaceful break. The toilet are clean and there is gallons of lovely hot water. Reception staff friendly and knowledge always helpful. Would use again.

Well see my comment from last year and add pygmy goats a nice touch otherwise situation normal still being nice to the spiders I swear there last year's webs. Urinal blocked for two days lovely paddles had by all, and still compromising on the loo paper even followed the cleaner in as she left and several rolls were missing.

What a pity we have visited this site for a number of years and I swear the cobwebs in the communial block are the same ones.

The cleaner wants to be sent down the road and a new one employed not replacing toilet rolls and leaving both dispensers empty is unforgivable especially after being told to replace them by reception.

The disabled facilities sadly need completely upgrading in both blocks they are not fit for purpose no drop down rail and troublesome locks which if you have mobility issues are not ideal.

That said the site is in a lovely location and the reception staff need medals for all the running around after the cleaner.

I stayed here for 3 nights with my wife and 2 children (9 & 4)

I'd been before a couple of years ago and enjoyed it, so thought I'd go back.

I'm not interested in the fishing side of things at this site, I went more for the space available for the children to play.

Stayed in 'field 5', which is a good size, and they put the units around the edge of the site, so there is a large area for everybody to have room to play in the middle.

Although it was during the school holidays, you never felt as though anybody was on top of you.

There is an adequate play park for the children, though we didn't use it much.

The toilet/shower blocks are ok. Floors get a bit muddy, and although there are mops, people don't seem to clean up after themselves, so maybe they need cleaning a bit more regularly.

The staff at the shop/reception couldn't be more helpful and friendly, they really are a credit to the site.

The shop has a few bits and bobs that you'd be likely to forget, at reasonable prices.

I re-froze some ice packs at 10p each, also I charged my mobile phone for £1.

The only issue we had was with a large party of Polish Anglers.

They were over the opposite side of the field, and on the first night they arrived they were up (drunk)shouting at the top of their voices until about 3am.

I understand that people in groups want to have a bit of a laugh, and to be honest, I wouldn't have minded if they'd quietened down at midnight. I'm a heavy sleeper, and struggled to get asleep with the noise.

Mentioned it to the lady at reception and she couldn't be more apologetic. She explained the site had recently lost their site warden in a tragic accident, and that she'd have a word.

In fairness, whatever she said obviously worked, as they were completely silent by about 10pm the following night.

I was impressed with how this little issue was dealt with, and I would definitely come back here.

We visited here for 5 nights and found it to be a beautiful and quiet campsite although our pitch was quite hard to find but when we did find it we were more than happy with the location. The toilets were clean and the showers were powerful with lots of hot water although you did have to keep pressing them on for a decent length shower. This site has 3 large ponds 2 for fishing and 1 wildlife pond which sadly was fenced off so can't really be fully appreciated. There is also a hide which was locked and which could do with a revamp, as could a lot of the other things around the ponds such as a bridge that has fallen into the water and hasn't been mended. On the whole it was a lovely site. We saw a kingfisher, heron and loads of bats so as wildlife lovers it was a great site but with a bit after tlc could be a stunning site.

Just returned after a week at Blackland Lakes.

In short – disappointing.

The location is excellent, all of Wiltshire is accessible with ease, and the campsite itself is a short way off the main A4. The people there are friendly, no problems there at all.

The pitches are huge, but the ones at the lower end of the field were soggy – I got well and truly stuck. The grass was long so I couldn’t see it til I sunk into it – deep. They towed me out with a tractor and found me a better pitch, but why put people in a bog when there are pitches higher up that are better? They blamed the recent rain, but they knew it was soaking where they placed me, so it was daft to send me towing a caravan into it when the field was mostly empty.

You can’t fill an aquaroll, as the taps at the water points don’t pour – they spray water everywhere. They should install a small hozelock connector on each one so the water is directed in a ‘pour’ not a spray? But if you take a tube with you, you’ll be fine.

The shop has the essentials, but it’s frequently closed.

Then to the shower/toilet blocks. There is an old one, which is ok but very beaten up, cracked tiles, but it works ok. The new one is awful. Everything works, but it’s so dark and dreary. Poor lighting, all dark wood, and grimy. It needs a damn good clean. Cobwebs are inevitable on a campsite, but some have been there for years. The light fittings are full of dead insects – horrible. The hand drier only blows cold air and it was a freezing cold week, so that wasn’t welcome.

But the main grouse about this block is the way it’s been built. There’s a ladies’ entrance one end, and a gents’ at the other. But both entrances go into the same block, so it’s not segregated at all. Why on earth isn’t there a wall half way down to separate the men’s and the ladies halves?

They call themselves the premier campsite in Wiltshire. They certainly aren’t that!

Having visited before we were looking forward to our stay.

Toilets not cleaned very often and dirty and cobwebby ( I realise the spiders have to live somewhere but they hadn't been removed for ages )

The one time we saw the loos being cleaned (11pm There were no set cleaning times had there have been we would have known to use the other loos) we were told to use the other loo block which is only a couple of hundred metres away but in the pouring rain its a long way.

Only saw the warden once when we popped in the shop. Shop has a few essentials in but not open when you realise you need them !

Fishing is very good ( so the hubby says )

There is a small park for the children which has seen better days.

We found this to be quite a good site, but could be great with a bit of work. To be fair, it was early in the season, but some of the facilities need a bit of an update. For example the children's play area where the equipment is a bit worse for wear. Having said that, the kids were happy and that makes a big difference!

There is a shop on site, which wasn't very big, but had the basics.

The location was great, with some interesting places to visit and the town of Calne only a few minutes drive away, with enough shops to get what you need. Other towns such as Devizes and Melksham are also quite close. There are also plenty of historic sites close by.

Just returned from a week on this site as part of a Halloween meet in field 6. The site is generally flat, but field 6 has a big hump in it, but easy to get round it, pitches are of a good size with nice grass, electric hook ups were very good, and no trips all week. We had some very nasty weather with high winds and heavy rain, but the ground coped with it and never got boggy, as it drained very well. Toilets were a little dated, but always very clean. The fishing lake was well stocked I was told, but did not use it myself. We had the use of the timber cabin for a couple of nights, but it`s a real shame it has been neglected, as this barn would be very good for rallies to use with some money spent on it, the roof leaks badly in parts, but as said, could be a good asset to the site if repaired. Fire pits are allowed off the grass, and had a few good nights sitting round them, drinking and laughing. There is a nice pub called the Talbot Inn within easy walking distance, but take a good strong torch with you, as the road has no kerbs, and no street lighting, and is pitch black at night. All in all, a very enjoyable week despite the bad weather at times. The site is in a lovely setting, and very peaceful, and would return to it on another meet if one is set up again, or a nice peaceful week for just relaxing, and visiting the surrounding places near it.
