I wanted to stay two weeks with my dogs at this campsite. Unfortunately the pole broke just after pitch up the tipi. Lucky me there was a free static caravan to rent. Weather was bad so a caravan definitely was the better 'choice'. Needless to say I sold my tipi and bought an old caravan :-)
The caretaker is very friendly and helpful! The facilities were always perfectly clean. Everything is easy and uncomplicated. Exactly as described on website. Great value for your money! Loved it!

Found this campsite quite randomly, we are relatively new to camping, this was our first 'longterm' stay in our new tent. 2 adults + a german shepherd. The welcome to site was appreciated after a long drive.
Dogs are to be kept on lead, as per most sites.
The campsite is quite close to the skye bridge, so very easy to find.
This campsite definitely fufills the 'getting away from it all' experience, although there is the option of electric hook up so you can have your home comforts if desired. Facilities are basic, there are regular loos, composting loos, dish wash up, coin showers, nothing that would put me off staying again. At the time of our stay the owner was still working on the site, so things may have changed.
Despite close proximity to the road, we were not troubled by road noise.
Weather was mixed during our stay, didn't find the site too boggy.
The views are absolutely stunning. We spent a lot of time down at the beach, directly across the road from the campsite.
We used this campsite as a base to explore the rest of Skye and surrounding area back across the bridge.
Midgies were pretty bad, but no more so than anywhere else in Scotland. I would recommend midgie net hats.

Had two great weeks at this site. The wardens were fantastic, really helpful and knowledgable, they went the extra mile to help without being in your face.
Facilities include 4 x WC, 2 x showers (£1 for ten min shower using a coin meter) 1x washing up area. There is also a laundry service offered. The facilities were always spotlessly clean and other than one occasion there was plenty of hot water.
There are two areas to the site, the tent fields and the hard standing area which we stayed on. The hard standing was level, a decent size and close to its electric hook up point and ours had fabulous views across the moorland to the mountains in the distance.
While there is no kids park there is plenty of space to explore and run about and there is also a static caravan with some seating and a table tennis table in, which was a good place for the kids when rainy.
The beach a few minuets walk away was at low tide sandy and large, and has awesome views! Next to the beach is a small grave yard which includes some commonwealth war graves. You can turn left along the beach and walk until you find a path up into lower Breakish, good fun and ideal for dog walking.
The closest shop is a large co-op in Broadford, about a 5 minute drive away, Tesco also do a click and collect service in Broadford. Broadford also has a post office, pharmacy and petrol station.
The area has a selection of places to eat, we had chips from Broadford chip shop which were good and dinner at Taste of India which was also good. We also visited Reptile world in Broadford which we really enjoyed, the knowledgable and passionate guide to the reptile house made the trip a pleasure, and the leak and potatoes soup in the adjacent cafe was excellent. There is also the 'Blasta (tasty) van' at the entrance to the site which did indeed do tasty food.
It is next to impossible to describe the views and scenery on Skye, other than to say we were truly blown away by them. We would strongly recommend a boat trip with Misty Isle, out of Elgol - the highlight of a great two weeks.
Things about the site to consider, the grass is not like 'Lords' cricket ground, there are parts of the site which resemble a reclaimed materials yard and there is a slight 'Heath Robinson' feel about the place so if your looking for a corporate style site this is not for you. Also the adjacent road does have some passing traffic but it's not that intrusive/noisy. This is the Highlands of Scotland so midge repellent (sold on site) and waterproofs are most likely going to be required. BUT if you want a site with spotlessly clean facilities, great owners/staff and the most awesome of views with great access to the rest of Skye and the mainland this is the site to use. Did I mention value for money? It's superb!

We loved this site, it is exactly as they say on their website, quiet no frills camping, and that's the way we like it. Pitches are spacious with electric hook up and good level hard standing, there are two showers and three toilets which for the size of the site was ample and they were spotlessly clean at all times although you have to pay for the showers I think the low price of the pitch compensates for this. Lots of great local information and weather forecasts loved the great display of maps of the area, washing up area is basic but had plenty of hot water, local produce for sale on site. Staff and owners were brilliant we had planned to stay here two nights but a breakdown meant we were stranded for one day elsewhere so we were not charged for the night we didn't stay and they were really accommodating when we called to say that we needed a pitch the following night but were unlikely to arrive until really late. Beach just a short walk, we will definitely go back to this site.

Site is exactly as described on website, no frills but thoughtful extras such as a fridge and freezer for campers to use. Lovely position, road quietened down in the evening so not a problem. Staff extremely friendly and welcoming and took me on a tour of all the facilities. Certainly good value for money. Agree first impressions aren't great but once pitched up all is forgotten.

On arrival it appeared a bit desolate. But when meeting the caretaker I was pleasantly surprised. However it was midgy there and I decided after the first night to stay longer so in total I stayed 4 nights.
The site is basic but all facilities are spacious and clean. The pitch you can pick yourself with additional info from the caretaker, nice!
The road is not far from the site but during the evening hours traffic is no problem and it is hardly noticeable.
A nice touch is the tea van on site, great tea, coffee and soups but also buns and so on.
Also the help I had fixing a belt buckle was great, this kind of help score's a few points.

Great Site!
Have been to this site twice now and will be going again this October. The site owner is great and always seem to have time to help people or be a one stop shop for information about Skye.
The good
Shower's are good and hot
Toilets are clean and well stocked with hand wash and toilet paper
Tent pitches are well spaced out
Owner and site workers are fantastic help
The view over the bay at sunset is to die for.
The Bad
THE MIDGE's (ok its not just this site the whole of skye is terrible in june).

Stayed here for 2 nights, fantastic welcome & comprehensive instructions on where everything was located and what there was to do locally. Nice quiet campsite ideally located for the Skye bridge and Broadford. Only slight criticism is the extra £1 charge for the showers, but on the other hand refreshing trust in that you pay on departure. Will return for definite.

I stayed at the campsite for 7 nights with my dog, this was one of the best holidays, I have had. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The facilities were very clean, location great, beautiful beach across the road and open moorland behind. Ideal location for seeing the island. Broadford is a 5 minute drive away which has a large co op and petrol station, 30 minute drive to Portree.
I hope to return next October.

Stayed 2 nights as part of our Outer Hebrides trip and must say that first impressions are not great as there are lots of what can only be described as bits of machinery hanging around but once on site we had a really good time.
As the manager responded to a previous review that they are more Easyjet than British Airways this is certainly true but cannot fault the welcome we received and the pitch we were allocated.
Booked this site for it's location and were certainly very happy with it.
Walked down to the beach on the first evening and got some fantastic sunset photos. True, there were cows and a bull in the field but far enough away to not be a problem. The next morning walked the dog again and never saw them so maybe they are moved to other fields.
Never used the facilities as we prefer to use our own but on the last morning used the toilet and was impressed with the shower room - think there was a charge of £1 for a shower.
Something we had never experienced before was that we were asked to pay when we departed - very trusting!
Good value at £13 per night with electric. Would probably stay again if in the area.
