If you fancy wild camping but with the added bonus of clean hot showers then this is the site for you. The owner was very friendly and we felt welcome and able to enjoy the fun of camping.

There seemed to be several 'make do and mend' projects on the go with used palets being the main source of raw material. Sadly, this and the piles of used metal, gave the impression no project would ever be finished and overall made the site seem a little bit like a dumping ground. Just a little tidying and a little more care and attention could make this a great camp site.

The site is close to the road and we were surprised just how much traffic there was at all hours of the day and night, possibly because this is the main road to the Skye bridge.

We actually live in a rural village and so are possibly not the best people to judge road noise but there was more traffic than we had expected.

The site was handy for getting around the local area and the walk to the beach was extremely pleasant and once down there we could see seals.

Overall we had a good stay but wouldn't visit again as there seemed to be many other nice sites to choose from on Skye.

We have just returned from Scotland and had a brilliant time, during which we stayed 6 nights in a tent at Ashaig on Skye. Its a short drive from the bridge with good grocery shops 3 miles either side of it. Its a good base for visiting Skye and allows quick access to the mainland for other visits.

The site itself is quite basic, but quiet and allows bbqs or campfires. Facilities are limited compared to many other sites but are extremely clean! The owner Tom is friendly.

I would happily book again

This campsite is a true work in progress but it is worth the stay there. We stayed for 6 nights and Tom the owner was extremely helpful and it was no bother for him to offer advice for the local area when needed.

There is a beach nearby and although on the main road the traffic was hardly noticeable. The showers cost 20p for 2 minutes but well worth the money.

There is a supermarket and food outlets nearby and petrol station. Visit the campsite website for further information. There are also generous sized plots in a thoughtfully laid out way.

We found the site just off the main road into Skye, at first appearance it wasn't the type of campsite we usually stay in, as we tend to stay in plush sites where you need a key code for the toilets.

However, that said, it was a small site, very much a work in progress, but the owner was very friendly and took the time to explain where to go and what to see.

The toilet/shower facilities, 1 shower/toilet and 1 toilet were clean and we both got hot showers, 2x20p was plenty for each shower. Maybe the addition of an extra toilet or 2 in peak season may help as I could see if it did get busy, there would be a queue. But then does this area get that populated??

There was a covered area to wash pots, recycling bins - so you can sort your rubbish, perhaps in bad weather I would probably wash my pots in the van as you do seem a bit open to the elements

Although we didn't use the path, there was a path to the sea/beach.

The site allows well behaved dogs and owners. It was quiet even though located by the road.

The site looks a little rough around the edges, you drive past a small cottage which looks set to fall down, so look beyond this. The site met our needs for the night. It feels very rural and potentially isolated in the winter, but isnt that part of the appeal.

Would I stay here again - yes if I was visiting I would stay, I want a peaceful nights sleep, hot showers, clean toilet and friendly owners/staff - this site ticked those boxes very well.

Plus I didn't see any children running around, bliss! (sorry for those with children, no offence meant)

We came across this site between Kyle of Lochalsh and Lower Breakish. Its a C&CC CL and its right on the main road – don't let that put you off as traffic isn't that busy and quietens right down in the evening.

The site is set in 2 parts and has pitches for probably 10-15 in total so lots of choice where to park up. One side is hardstanding all with ehu and the left as you enter – plenty of room and gravel pitches. The other side has a gravel road but some grass / some hardstanding and seemed more popular.

There are 2 toilets and 1 shower – charges etc for shower. Facilities looks fairly new and very well kept. There is a washing up area with free hot water, a chemical disposal area and recycling area.

The site looks like its in the middle of being upgraded and there are some nice touches (e.G. Sink with water and soap as the chemical disposal area).

The charge for 2 adults with ehu was £14 – a good site for stop overs on or off Skye and would certainly use again.

As previous reviewer says the owner is honest in what he can and can't supply - this isn't 5 star camping but it is clean, comfortable and friendly.

We found this site by chance late evening after a long day on the motorbike

Great welcome from friendly owner who showed us the facilities and then to the pitch area.

If it's late you want to get your tent up and a meal going, pay tomorrow, no rush.

Great warm shower (20p), toilets etc clean and spacious, plenty of room to pitch without encroaching on anyone else

All the basics supplied in a stunning location.

3 miles to shops, and easy access as is on main road (never heard the traffic)

Watched the sunset over the loch with a dram and a smile whilst sat around the campfire. Perfect.

When booking, communication between Tom the owner and myself was great. Don't judge a book by its cover, try it.

On arrival, campsite looked small and basic, but we parked up, supposedly for 1/2 nights, stayed 7 (had to return to work) reasonably priced, toilet and shower facilities spotless plenty of hot water. It was so relaxing and friendly.

Tom was always working to improve the site as it is a new venture. He couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. He gave us information as to where we should visit and the best way to get there. He was always helpful but never intrusive.

We explored a different part of the island every day and had a relaxing evening on the campsite. All the campers were very friendly. At night we also went for a walk to the lovely sandy beach nearby. The views were fabulous. It was so quiet and peaceful. We loved it.

Look at ashaig website for more info. The campsite is central for loads of places to visit. Co-op nearby lots of special offers lots of walks nearby. Love it, can't wait to go back.

This site was a disappointment after seeing the website. We initially drove in and drove back out again, but I had booked a tour of Gavin Maxwell's island and there was no other site around.

For 'working croft' read unsightly site with building materials and concrete mixers lying around.

For 'hardstandings' read scraped out spaces full of gravel, just big enough for a van but not for a car as well.

For 'new shower and toilet block' read a little wooden shed with unrendered plastered walls, and a hole with wooden slats over it for the shower.

This is right on the main road - which although it did go quiet at night was very busy with very fast moving traffic going to and from the bridge.

I thought it was over priced - I paid £20 for the 4 of us - when I think I've paid £10 for much better places with better facilities.

The only thing that made us stay was the tour, and the only thing that made it acceptable was the views from the bay, which are not the views of or from the campsite. It is so sad because it could be such a lovely site, but it wasn't.

This site although in its infancy is a gem. It's website clearly tells you what it does not provide and I think that is a real plus point. So I would suggest you view their website.

The site has one shower room with a toilet and basin and there's another toilet cubicle too. There's a disposal point for your van toilet etc.

The pitches for vans were hard standing and well spaced and ehu was available.

The owner was friendly, welcoming and helpful.

Well located just a few minutes from the Skye bridge so nice and handy after a long drive. Again look at the website as there is helpful information about locating the site.

There is a co-op and other shops, take away too, in Broadford - just 5 minutes or so along the road or stop off at the C0-op in Kyle of Lochalsh before crossing the bridge, either way there are facilities for food close by.

Although we did not have children with us and there is no children's playground, - I would say: who needs it at such a great location, therefore I have still scored it 10/10 for this. It's only a 3 mins stroll to beach.

We had two great nights at this site and will definitely put this on the list as a site to make a point to return to. It is a no frills site and that has to be it's charm.

We visited this campsite whilst travelling on holiday last yr, when we visited it was still a relatively new opened site, and had not as yet opened the new toilet/shower blocks, but instead the owner had built his own temporary, which were like sheds! but once we stopped laughing about the sawdust toilet, we had a great time. My 9yr old son loved exploring at a burn near by which we could see from our tent with other kids on site.

The owner was present and was very friendly and helpful, we went for 1 night and stayed 2 as we loved it. Few mins from shops, restaurant up hill, but extremely pricey, better to travel 5 mins to a local pub which does brilliant food and well priced, enjoyed my birthday dinner there. Short drive to Poltree

All in all a great campsite but we did struggle for a phone signal! standing in field seemed to work. Well priced and electric hook up was a great bonus, would definitely recommend this site to anyone and as such we are planning on visiting again, only hopefully in a camper
