Just had a lovely weekend here despite the cold weather !
Ok the showers/toilets are not the best but there was plenty of hot water and they were clean whilst we there and the club house toilets are open til 9pm.
It would be nice to have a canopy over the washing up sink but at £14 a night with EHU I don't feel I can complain too much.
There is a small play area but it was more than adequate for the 4 children in our party of 8 (age of children ranging from 4-11yrs)
The site is lovely and the staff are very friendly
The pitches are a good size we had 2 and managed to fit 1 x outwell vermont xl and 1x outwell vermont l plus trailers bikes and cars on pitches.

Key points from out visit during Easter 2012
Booking very easy
Staff all very friendly nothing is too much much trouble
Club house is available for use for when it is too cold/ wet. Activities are very reasonable priced
About 5 minutes from a large supermarket and about 10 minutes from Banbury town centre car parks
The whole site is flat (there s a slight slope but this was definitely no problem for a large tent (kalaari 10)
Very reasonable price for pitch - we paid £9 for nights when we didn't have EHU and an extra £5 for those nights we did. I should explain that when we originally booked no EHU pitches were available but we were able to use hook up for two nights at the beginning our stay before one of the later 'residents' arrived.
Showers may be a little dated but plenty of hot water all times of the day. This is the same for the outside washing up facility
Food and drink is reasonably price.
Site is very clean
Plenty of lighting
Small playground for the kids to play

After 40 years of camping in Britain I consider this to be the worst site I have ever visited.
We booked 2 electric pitches together in January 2012. On arrival Sat 7th April, we were directed to pitches numbered 24 and 25. Pitch 24 was available however there were no other electric pitches available on the site. After 5 hours waiting for the lady to sort out what had gone wrong she asked us to set up alongside pitches 24 and 25.
The outside portable cabin toilet/shower facilities were inadequate. They were dated/dirty and we do not believe any cleaning took place (except by the campers themselves with the dirty mops provided!)The showers were small and the water supply was shared between the two, making it difficult to control. There was very little toilet paper available because it was not replenished regularly. The inside toilet facilities were not much better.
The driving range was fun and the clubhouse atmosphere was good.
Overall we were not impressed but the site has potential if staffing/facilities are improved.

We booked this site for 3 nights, based on previous reviews. How diverse are people's perspectives! We paid for 3 nights but left after the first! When we arrived, the site was a mud bath, (although it hadn't rained that day). The toilets & showers were totally unuseable, being awash with wet & mud! We were told that these facilities are 'temporary', but heard from other campers that the owners have had this site for 2 years!
As it was a Bank Holiday, there was a BBQ available, we were looking forward to it but when we saw a member of staff picking up a food cover off the ground and placing it back on the food, without washing it, plus the buns, cheese & onions were open to the elements, as were the cooking utensils, we decided against chancing it!
It rained over night and the whole place was a total mud bath - the golf balls received more attention than the guests! (the golf balls had their own washing machine!)
It is a shame, because we had a warm welcome + the location is beautiful, sadly the organisation & facilities let it down badly!

Management response: We respect peoples' diverse perspectives.
Our family has had this 420 acre working farm for 48 years, 21 of which the family has been developing and running a very successful golf course and driving range, alongside which we are now developing our exciting new campsite which has only been open for 12 months.
Improvements this month to increase the electricity supply to 25 pitches unfortunately left trench marks at ground level around some pitches, however every effort was made to ensure these were flattened and were grass seeded, with the main driveway being stoned over. It had rained here quite heavily on the Easter Friday and Saturday so inevitably, from a grass site, mud was walked into the showers, which are free of charge and have a self-clean system to keep campers' prices low - polite notices are displayed in the temporary shower unit. However, in addition to this our concientious club house team, who pride themselves in providing excellent customer service, did clean the showers regularly over the weekend.
We have a high rating of 5 for our kitchen and we offer our guests al fresco food every day with seating on the decking overlooking our golf putting green. Every effort is made to ensure bbq meat and food remains hot and onions are cooked and remain in a frying pan over the bbq flame. Baps, cheese and sauces are all self service and have their own containers and are put out in small quantities.
Along with the development of the showers we intend to provide washing and drying facilities for guests' clothes.
It is very sad that this guest did not raise any of these issues with our team at the time. This would have given us an opportunities to correct some of the misconceptions and apologise if they felt we were not up to standard. |

Good priced pitch the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
When we arrived on site, we were told somebody was still on our pitch, so we waited and waited, went back and was told they couldn't get hold of them and they offered us another pitch, we accepted this as we wanted to get set up, however this messed up our weekend as we wanted to be next to our friends.
The shower and toilet facilities were two dirty floored portable cabin toilets c/w shower, I used the toilet once that was enough, lucky enough I was able to use our caravan for a shower.
The two toilets in the clubhouse were no better, they stunk with one toilet blocked.
I could find no wastemaster emptying point, so had to get my partner to help pick it up full over the 5ft wall elsan emptying point.
This site has so much potential and with a few improvements could be a brilliant place to stay.
I would recommend people with their own facilities to visit this site, but tenters beware the facilities are limited.

The most wonderful welcome you could wish to have.
Very friendly staff, nothing to much trouble.
Will return in the future and would recommend to anyone.
The staff even helped when we got our mobile home stuck in the mud.
They were very knowledgeable about the the local attractions and even rang a friend to see if we could park the mobile home in the park and ride at Oxford(which you can do in a special area, at no extra cost great value)
The bar and games room where being decorated on our visit but the staff still set up the skittles for us.
Great stay

This site has great potential. The people running this site were incredibly helpful, and it has good access to the m40and lovely town of Banbury.
However I don't think that this site should be advertised as an all year round one. Granted, when we arrived it had been snowing, so this meant we couldn't go on to the grass fields and were advised to park on the hardstanding. However as the snow melted it became clear that we were in fact on a gravelled car park, which when the snow had melted became incredibly muddy, we thick clay clinging to everything. This meant for a very messy caravan trip. The showers were also frozen solid on arrival, and took two days to defrost. When (to a relief) we could finally shower we discovered it was in fact inside a trailer which still had ice all over the floor. The units were unheated, which I didn't think was very good for an all year round pitch. They really needed rubber matting over half of the flooring in the shower changing area to stop the mud and ice compromising your shower. The golf range on site seemed good, though the games room could do with a bit of TLC. There's a nice walk along a disused railway at the end of this site, and Banbury has plenty to offer in the way of shops, restaurants and bars.
Overall we had a very nice stay but the site needs to improve its facilities if it is to be open all year round. Would recommend as a spring/summer site but wont be returning in winter

Just returned from a fab weekend, weather was a bonus but the site is one we will return to.
Pitches large, on the site of a golf course, club house open to 9pm staff very friendly and helpful. Toilet and shower in portable cabin at the moment but you can use the club house whilst open. I did not use the shower as I used the caravan but my husband did and said that it was fine. Once the new shower block is put on the site it will be lovely.
9 hole course, driving range, fishing lake, putting green (this was free for us to use) club house served hot food, crisps nuts etc, pool table, darts and table tennis and a lovely decked area to sit and have a drink.
Will be returning £14. 00 per pitch with electric no extra charges.
One small thing the road up to the clubhouse the cars went very fast so keep an eye on your children!

This is an update to our entry of April 2011 which was our first visit to Drayton Leisure.
The site has come on leaps and bounds since this with very generous sized marked pitches, electric to every pitch,
Two taps one at each end of the site, a small but functional temporary caravan with two loos and showers (the club house toilets are still available during the day)
An outside washing sink with hot and cold water, new elsan disposal point, ground level grey water disposal drain and still the same friendly welcome as before.
£9 for none electric and fourteen with electric makes the hookup seem a tad expensive but finding a site as nice as this for £14 a night is still a bargain.
The owners say they have had a very good year and the site is still very much a work in progress.
We will be back next April to keep an eye on their progress.

Small site, great value. All the staff we had contact with were great. 2 Showers are now available on site, open 24 hours and free. While they are very basic (portacabin) they were always clean (mob and bucket provided).
We stayed for 3 nights and the site was very quiet, it will be interesting to see how it works when the site is full. Which we will at the end of August as we have booked for 2 nights and we know it is full!
Karen was extremely helpful, we couldn't remember the dimensions of the pitch so called to ask, she went out and measured.
Our 6 year old had his first go at putting, free wifi and real ale. Children not impressed with the play area. Sizzler pub, 15 mins walk was good.
