Beautiful setting surrounded by wild flowers butterflies gass-Hoppers not to mention the lovely sound of a woodpecker and cockerels in the morning.
When we arrived we met Fran's husband who escorted us to the campsite it was lovely, He told us where we could go fishing what walks we could do, talked about walking down the River Vyrnwy and fishing. Later we met Fran who nipped to see if we needed anything, armed with phone numbers and names for local shops.
She also provided a firebin and wood for us to use in the evening (at a small cost) She visited everyday cleaning the porta loo and talking to new arrivals. She told us about her honey and unfortunately we didn't get any but it sounded delish.
Very friendly pleasant and not a thing out of place. Happy for the children to run around. There was a wasp nest near someone else pitch and Fran soon dealt with it without hesitation. She even taught the Children about the dangers of Cows and calves and bee and honey making telling us about all the flowers that they like and what effect this has on the honey much more than we thought. Cant wait to come again.
Beautiful and fair price - Would love to say we caught some fish in the ponds but we didn't succeed unfortunately. I have scored 10/10 for Child friendliness but they do need to be careful near the pools as they could be deep and if they were running through the long grass they could miss step and end up in, but we took 4 children ranging in age from 4-11 and they were all playing football and they really enjoyed it.

Lovely basic site, with the only facilities being a flushing porta loo,
If you want peace and tranquillity and back to basics camping then this site is for you.
Fran is an excellent host very friendly and helpful.
The site is about a mile from the river where you can have a fish if you want or just a nice walk to it.
Looking forward to returning.

Lovely setting and huge pitches. Super for dog walking and the odd dip in the pond. The river for fishing is a fair yomp so travel light and ask the owner for the best spots to fish.
If you are lucky enough to get a clear sky then there is no light pollution so great for star gazing. Take mosquito spray for the evenings. This site could be an absolute diamond if there was a porto-shower on site. There isn't really washing up facilities unless you consider perching your washing up bowl on the bin!
Highly recommend for campers just looking for somewhere to sleep or those with their own facilities.
Tourers or motor homes couldn't ask for a more relaxing location away from it all.

I love visiting this field, it’s always full off wild flowers and mown around the edge to create camping pitches. There were three goslings in the pond this time as well as tons of water lilies, iris and tadpoles with beautiful dragonflies flying around.
We saw several different birds of prey and at dusk large bats came out. The Milky Way is spectacular without any light pollution and we are always given a warm welcome, from Fran & Brian.
If you need good WiFi, showers and entertaining it’s not for you. If you need to relax, connect to nature in an enormous field, with friends and a camp fire then this might be the spot. I’ve been many times and hope to be back before too long.

Thanks to the other reviewers on here we tried this little gem. Not easy to find as stated previously but Fran whom we were met by is a friendly face when you are tired and just want to get dinner on and parked for the night. Fran is rightly proud of their field which is beautiful and private with stunning views to Rodney's Pillar and the Briedden Hills. There is a delightful pond which has geese and ducks nesting in the middle at present.
This is a very basic site. A port-a-loo which is kind of plumbed in, a dustbin and a tap for water. No hook ups.
We had a memorable and peaceful moonlit night under the stars which were reflected in the pond and we would without doubt absolutely love to stay again.

Totally agree the the above. A magical setting. Wanted to take three kids (Age10, 10, 08) somewhere. Away from playstations and Ipads. This Meadow location fitted the bill perfectly.
The pitch cut out of long grass & thousands on buttercups in full bloom. Having permission to explore the surrounding fields the kids absolutely loved the place. Lack of facilities wasn't a problem with pubs and shops a short drie away. Eventually there did come a point when we all needed a shower so we improvised. Filling a plastic bag with tap water, punching few holes in the bottom. Hey presto.
Bottom line - it was one of those holidays that will live long on all our memories thamks

A beautiful site that we have visited many times:) The owners are genuinely friendly, welcoming, and helpful, and enjoy being able to share their lovely meadow site with others.
The site is managed with a view to sustaining and increasing the bio diversity, and is a real haven for wildlife, with owls, hawks, ducks, butterfly's, newts, wildflowers, ect. The site is largely a natural meadow with the outer edge mowed for pitching. There is mature hedging with trees all round the field, and a large pond. With great views of the Briedden hills.
A quiet site at night where you can enjoy a real campfire under starry sky's. The local area is a true slice of rural England, with excellent walks locally for the countryside/nature lovers. And there are good shops/pubs a short drive away. Facility's are basic but are more than adequate, (real toilet in portaloo, sink, tap, and bin).
Access to the site by car or motorhome is good, and being hedged and gated, the site is both private and secure. Firewood is provided by the owners who also produce their own excellent local honey. Totally agree with other reviews, this is a gem of a site.
With friendly and helpful owners, a real snapshot of camping as it used to be. Love it there, and will be revisiting again very soon:)

For those looking for the 'Farmers Field' experience of their childhood this is the place. A stunning, flower filled meadow next to a pond and down a windy farm lane.
Owls the only noise in the night, once the open fire has died down. Logs supplied by the farmer, as are the eggs, of a morning!
Just like when you were young! -That also goes for the facilities, the toilet is a hole and drain affair and the tap is just that. This is a field!
The farmer and family where very welcoming and my single night, just passing through, turned into a long weekend.
A must for the wild camper, just be prepared to hunt for it, or put the coordinates in your GPS, there are no signs until you're at the gate!

Set in absolutely glorious countryside.
This place is THE best in natural, wild camping if Shropshire is your destination. No mod cons, but as a result you can experience all the beauty of the natural countryside. Wood provided to stoke your fire in a brazier and (if you're really lucky) an invite to join the Bebbs for one of their legendary bar-b-qs.
Fabulous local pubs, The Tontine, The Royal Hill (a peaceful pint on the river) and The Navigation, you're spoiled for a good pint and grub if that's your thing. Otherwise, boil your kettle on the fire, sit back and enjoy the views. Truly spectacular.
