Loved this campsite. Large field with tents round the edge leaving plenty of space for the kids to play. Stunning views, very quiet, Lovely. Toilet and shower blocks were simple but clean. Excellent value for money.
Lovely walks and loads to do in the area. We walked down to the coast path and also took a skiff out on the River at West Bay.
TOP TIP - do follow the directions on the website. We did not and had to do a very tricky manoeuvre with a trailer!

We booked this site as my wife was walking part of the south west coast path for the MS charity.
The site is very well kept and you get a nice large pitch, we had lovely views out across the hills.
This is only our second time out with a caravan and everyone was so helpful, from the ladies running the site to the gentleman across from us who keeps his caravan there and comes down each weekend who loaned us a water pipe and made a donation to the MS charity (thank you),
We stayed for ten days and every day the toilets and showers were always clean and tidy, the camp is very relaxing,
We have two teenage children who would go off on there bikes round the village and country lanes,
We went to the Black Bull pub for a meal, good food and drink, fair price.

This site is great value for money. It is a 'no frills' campsite and the owner can appear a little strange, but I think maybe all the locals are like this (read on!)
We were directed to where we could pitch our tent and it had to be in line with the other tents on the site. We were camping with friends and with our three tents lined up in a row we went to move our car but one couple that we were with told us to be careful how we park our car as the owner had stated that she didn't want cars driving through the trees (not that we would have).
So the site itself has toilets and showers and a washing up area, but like I said, it is no frills. You have to pay 20p for a token for the shower but the shower does last long enough for a decent wash. There is also a hairdryer which isn't very powerful, but it is free and fine if you have plenty of time to spare!
The site has lovely views across the valley to the hill beyond but you will not have a seaview from here.
The village pub is a short walk but the Landlords are very direct and not very welcoming, but we heard that the food was good so we ate there one evening, but we had to wait well over an hour for our meal and the meal was adequate but not great if you like large portions. Whatever you do, don't sit down and expect to have your order taken by a waitress. There is a sign above the bar that you can be forgiven for missing and if you ask the Landlord how you are to order food, a finger is pointed to the sign! Like I say, strange people the locals!

Last visited this site in 2007 so we thought we would give it another try because of the lovely location, but sadly things were no better.
The toilet and washing facilities are woefully inadequate for the number of units they pack on there, being very dated and too few in number.
The site is generally reasonable and the owners are friendly enough but assistance did not seem to be willingly given. Listed as a family site but it really isn't with only two swings for the kids they soon get bored and then could get up to mischief, perhaps it would be better as an adult only.
The pub is expensive but we did find a nicer one in the next village ( Litton Cheny ) and a nice teashop on the main coast road, the Eggcup I think.
Sad as it could be a lovely little site with just a few improvements, not enough to make it too commercial but just small things like enforcing the rules re. Dogs, noise etc.

The camp site is located in a fabulous part of Dorset with amazing countryside and coastline.
The campsite is located in a small village, with a lovely friendly village pub called The Crown that serves superb food. The steak and ale pie is frankly the best I have ever tasted.
The campsite itself is fairly small and nicely laid out. The wardens disappear at night so that meant the 10:30 curfew was not obeyed. We were allocated a pitch which must have been right next to a wasp nest as we were surrounded by them - especially at meal times which took the edge of our stay. Although we could see swatting going on on other pitches so perhaps may have been a more widespread problem in our field.
There is not much child wise at the site and no ball games are allowed in the camping fields. There is no shop, the nearest being a car drive away. The nearest beaches are beautifully picturesque but probably not the safest for swimming with the strong currents that run along Chesil Beach.
The toilet and shower facilities are basic with only 2 showers in each sex toilet block to service the whole campsite. The 30p shower tokens lasted 7 minutes which is great if you are in the shower, but not so good if you are waiting for one.
The customer service could be better. Ringing the site before our arrival, she was unhelpful and didn't seem to want to bother with anything once she had taken our money. We also didn't get a receipt. I asked to add an electric hookup to our booking and was told they had none left, when we arrived we had 2 unused right by our pitch. On arrival, and throughout our stay, she was unfriendly and made us feel not very welcome at all. The man however was a lot more friendlier.
Despite the nice setting of the site, I probably won't return and look for a friendlier one in the surrounding area.

We visited this site in Puncknowle (pro: Punnel) on August bank holiday weekend - four adults, two cars and one tent, just for the Saturday night as we were completing a walk from Barnstaple to Abbotsbury.
Of the half dozen sites I telephoned this was the only site prepared to take us for one night, so thank you nice owners for that, and it only cost £18.
It's a big site with excellent views but reaches capacity quickly because of the limited facilities, and in fact only looks half full. As for those facilities, they are poor compared to other sites and the only reason I score this site low.
The village pub (Crown) - very good for food and Palmer's beer, is just a short walk from the site, Home Farm is also well situated for visiting all this area of Dorset has to offer. And a mention for the egg cup cafe along the road in Swyre, it opens every day at 8.30am, nice to have breakfast cooked for us.
We would visit the site again for it's location but only on a quiet weekend.

This is a small site, tucked away and close to a pub which is just up the road.
It was very quiet, and as we drove in there were tons of rabbits ambling around - my dog thought it was heaven come early.
They took dogs and we booked a table at the pub, the food was good and the pub owners very friendly
The campsite was clean, the showers were token fed, a little older but had hairdryer etc
In terms of the whole package location, size, local pub and camp facilities it was the best this bank holiday - we were there on the Monday and I heard they were fully booked over the weekend so I think we caught it at the right time
Too busy and it may be a little much for such a small site, although we had the choice of pitch and enough space around
The people running the site were friendly and on hand for our short notice call to book
I don't suppose there was much for children which suited us down to the ground

We stayed here during the August bank holiday weekend and although we we told the site was fully booked there was plenty of space for everyone.
The wash blocks were old but always clean and the showers offered plenty of hot water for a 30p token, although the water pressure was somewhat lacking.
The site was slightly sloping but with good hedges around the edges there was plenty of shade from the wind and morning sun.
There’s a great farm shop about 2 miles from the campsite serving various local produce and we’d recommend walking from the site to Chesil beach (disappointing stony beach with lots of fishermen owning most of the shoreline!) where a good pint can be found at the Manor Hotel.
On the whole we had a terrific stay and I’d recommend this site to anyone looking for a good value stay in this area. The only downside to our stay was the service we received at the Bull in Swyre, where after spending over £200.00 on food and drinks the landlady wanted to charge 25p for a glass of tap water for our young son, I cannot urge you to avoid this place strongly enough.

We have stayed here twice now, returning for the peace and the tremendous views. Campers and caravans have a separate field from the tents.
The first time we visited was in June 2007 in a caravan. Although there were several caravans /campers, there was only 1 tent on a huge site.
The second time we visited was over the August bank holiday weekend in 2008. This time we camped. The site was very busy and you had to pick your times to use the toilets and showers due to the limited facilities available. However on the Tuesday after the weekend, the site emptied once more.
We love the nearby pub, which has displays of art for sale by the local art group. There are always new pictures to look at.
Just along the main road are the Eggcup tea rooms. They sell the most fantastic food, including huge cream teas.

This was our first camping experience and we came to Home Farm for a weekend break in August. We do not have children and from our point of veiw this site was excellent. There was plenty of room with tents pitched a healthy distance apart.
The toilets were basic but spotlessly clean - they are in a concrete/breeze block building, unlit and unheated. There were two toilets in the ladies and one sink (plus a mirror!), but I never had to wait. The ladies shower block was seperate and had three showers, a sink, mirror and hairdryer. The hairdryer was free but the showers operated on a token system (30p for an ample 7 minutes). The showers themselves are electric so you can adjust the temperature and operate with a single start/stop button (no push button), the water was piping hot. Again, its an unheated and basic building, but it's very well kept and spotlessly clean.
There isn't really anything for children to do at this site which is exactly why we picked it!
The village itself is very quiet, there was no traffic noise at the site. The Crown pub in Puncknowle did pub grub and a good pint but it is a bit pricy (£3.00 for a pint of cider).
Swyre is the next village 5 minutes walk away and there is another pub there which in our opinion had a better menu. It is bigger with a pool table, but it was also pricy (premium brand cider was £3.60 a pint). I think the bulk of pubs in the area are going to be on the pricy side however, I don't think these two were the exception.
The coastal path is a short walk away but as the weather was so lousy we didn't get to experience it!
All in all a great site if you want to get away from it all.
