Absolutely great time spent at Brook House. Very friendly, smiley and approachable owner. Beautiful scenery. Peaceful and a great base camp to explore what is a wonderful unspoilt area. The toilet / shower facilities were perhaps not enough to comfortably accommodate the entire site, as yet, but it's a relatively young camp-site - a work in progress - but all said, it couldn't be more welcoming, and the location is fantastic. The rustic rural pub, but two minutes away, is great too. Thank you. We'll definitely be back! :-)

Do not book this campsite.
Our family booked three electric tent pitches, a camping pod, a shepherd's hut, and a B&B room in January 2013 for August 2013 Bank Holiday weekend. We turned up to find we'd been allocated a non-electric field that hadn't been mown, was covered in stones and sheep poo, and wasn't anywhere near flat (dips and holes).
The owner was very rude to us when we asked to be moved. She offered no alternative to where we had booked. Also, the shepherd's hut had been rebooked to someone else, so she said we'd have to go in a bell tent (that had no bed or extras that the hut had).
Also, the toilet (two for the whole site) had no wash basin, with a handwritten note on the wall that said 'Due to no sink as yet, please use wipes. Sorry for any inconvenience'. Underneath, someone had written 'what wipes'. My only laugh of the day.
I reiterate. Do not book at this site.

I was disappointed when I arrived for the August bank holiday and the owner had no record of my booking. I made this booking back in April and had even double checked it last week as after reading reviews I was not confident that my booking had been noted.
The owner did find us a spot with electric but it was on a long weeded spot covered in bricks, sheep poo and sloping. Totally unsuitable for a tent!. After accessing the area my party decided that this was not suitable and we duly rang around for somewhere else. Obviously given the lateness in the day we could not find anywhere else. I duly went and spoke to the owner who then said we could move our tents a lot further forward on the field and she would get us an extension for the electric. This was far from ideal as the area was still not great. We decided to make the best of it and set up the tents. The owner did inform us that she had not charged up Tip Top prices as she was starting out which is lucky as the area we were allocated was far from Tip Top! The field we were in had really long grass/weeds which was in desperate need of being cut. If you book an electric tent pitch take your wellies as our feet were permanently soaking wet given the state of the grass/weeds.
The field by the river bank was a nice setting but it was a fair distance from the facilities. The track to the facilities was made up of bricks which was very uneven with no lighting.
Facilities - there are not enough toilets, washing up or showers for the amount of people that get booked into this site.
There is a mobile toilet block with three ladies and mens toilets but the stench was at times unbearable as these were all chemical toilets. Also on a number of occasions the water in the wash basins was not working so you could not was your hands.
The other three toilets - there were two with the showers and one separate one which had no wash basin. Wipes were provided but these had normally ran out.
Washing up - there was only one sink and a portable stand.
The shop was well stocked with gifts but not many groceries.
We hired a fire pit and purchased logs which was very nice to sit around on an evening!
This site is definitely a WIP and the owner needs to note down bookings instead of just saying fine when people call to avoid future disappointed visitors.

Bliss, what more can I say.
I was in need of a relaxing break and I had one here.
I booked a bell tent with extras and got a bell tent with extras.
A beautifully kitted out luxurious tent with the most comfy bed Ive ever slept in and did I sleep
Anything extra I needed I just asked for and got along with advice and a friendly chat.
The smell of beautiful roses surrounded the house, the toilets and showers were immaculate.
I went to fish the severn so was given a tent right on the river, shipped all my gear to the waters edge and fished nights for barbel. Ill put some info in about the fishing as this is why I was here.
Its a little fished stretch of the river so there isn't much bait going in, its not a commercial fishery and the fish don't jump on the hook, you've got to put some effort in, feed, feed and feed.
Any fish here are big old residents so go equipped and prepared to wait for bites.
A friend of mine caught 3 big barbel, another chap caught a 14lb river carp and I caught my first ever river barbel so I was thrilled
The boar does come up the river but is only about a foot high by the time it reaches here, there's no gravel at this point in the river and it is too deep to wade. Fly casting may prove difficult from the bank but is possible.
There were plenty of pike thrashing about as well.
For all you lady anglers fishing alone this is a very safe place to fish I took my dog who was on full guard but only found the boar wave to defend me from
I was worried about being able to get enough sleep during the day but it was that peaceful I slept like a baby
The meadow was covered in beautiful buttercups and the rabbits were playing and you could have heard a pin drop, heaven.
This is a family run site and not an over booked massive commercial pass through which make it all the more special, the owners care and want you to have a nice stay, that make a difference.
Thanks

Just stayed here 3 nights in a bell tent and had a great time! Tent was situated by a brook on its own in a little nook in the woods. Back to nature watching the birds, even saw a bat! Tent came with comfy bed, 2 tub chairs and outside there was a fire pit and wood plus seating. Owners were lovely and very keen for feedback as its a new project. Facilities were lovely and modern but need more showers and toilets, I know that Julia has this in hand though! Nice new fishing pond and sheep roaming gave the site a lovely feel. Shop is not quite finished but looks lovely and we were still able to browse and buy gifts. Location of site is great, pub just across the road and close to Rodney's Pillar which is a great walk with great views at the top!

We stayed here for the Sunday of the last bank holiday weekend in May. We booked very last minute (the night before). When we phoned up, it sounded like there was plenty of spaces, however, when we rolled up in a largish motorhome, we were struggling for a space. We were initially offered a space on the hard gravel area right in front of another caravan. Not the best first impression. We were then told we could go onto the bottom field but would not have the EHU we asked for (non EHU field by the lake) We drive down to it and decided we would prefer EHU. We were going to try another site when the owner offered us a pitch by the shop. We decided to go for this. Unfortunately, at this point, we got stuck in the field and had to be pulled out by a JCB (we should have turned into the right field, not the left one. This was my fault, but very embarrassing being towed past everyone!)Once we got settled, things started getting better. Although we were based right next to the shop, and had a number of kids and adults walking literally right past me/our BBQ to get to the shop, it was a nice pitch. The shop will be nice when finished, and the site deff needs to add more toilet and shower blocks. We were lucky as we were position V close to them so could see when they were empty, but any campers on the bottom field would walk to the top field only to find out there is a queue. I shower block in the bottom fields is a must. We met the owners a few times and they are V V nice. They really are trying with this site and sounds like they are putting a lot of money into it and working hard. Unfortunately, it seems that they had booked too many people on for the weekend we were there (a Very sunny bank holiday weekend). I feel they should have stopped at X amount of bookings, especially for caravans and motorhomes (there were still camping spaces available). This site will be lovely when finished but there is a bit to do yet. I wish the owners all the best with it, and thanks again for pulling us out with the JCB!

We returned to this site for the second year and were glad we did so, staying again on the large riverside field. The owner keeps the numbers restricted so there is lots of space to pitch your tent and move about, and the grass field has matured into a much more level, tent-friendly surface. Additionally, the sloped track down to the field has been improved with a hardcore surface - no more getting stuck in the mud!
The owner is a visible presence about the site: cheerful, friendly and helpful. She ensures that campers, especially large groups, respect the privacy and needs of others. For example, there was a Mini owners club convention but they were a friendly bunch and didn't disturb us at all, keeping noise to a minimum.
We heard that some people complained of waiting for toilet facilities, but thought this unfair. The longest I waited was a few minutes and mostly didn't have to at all. I've had far worse experiences at other busy sites. The facilities are kept in top notch condition, all ship-shape clean and modern. However, the toilet facilities are being extended, along with other active improvements. These are not owners sitting back on their laurels.
This is a new site and still maturing, with a new shop-café rapidly taking shape and a fishing pond nearing completion - and there seemed to be plenty of fish in the River Severn! The riverside pitch is also a great launch pad for kayak and canoe expeditions.
All in all, if you've got a tent, you couldn't do much better than this!
Disliked: Can't truthfully say we really disliked anything - not so keen on the small, brazier style campfire baskets, but that's a minor quibble!

We visited this site May Day weekend. We had booked for a grass pitch and were given a pitch on what looked like compacted builders rubble. The area where the caravans were ended up looking like a car park, as it was so cramped and the mini drivers, who were on site parked everywhere and kept revving their engines. We didn't even attempt to sit out, as it was so crowded.
There were insufficient toilets and showers for the number on site, which resulted in constant queues. The showers also had very poor pressure and changed from hot and cold randomly. There was only one washing up area and this kept getting used by people tired of the queues for showers.
The local pub is great - just 2 mins from the site and the scenery is fantastic. This site has potential but seems far from ready for the season. The new loos, which are on site but not connected, will help.

As a previous reviewer has commented, this site may be fantastic one day. But not yet.
We visited this site over May Day Bank Holiday. We were camping, our four friends using their caravans.
Whilst our tent pitch was outstanding (a premium-paid pitch with river view), the enjoyment of our stay here was marred by the laughable lack of sufficient basic facilities. Well over 100 people had been admitted to the site, including, unfortunately for all, a large rallying group from Cumbria Mini Cruisers, with 20-odd noisy, revving Minis. They had little regard for other campers and should not have been there.
Many caravans had been absolutely crammed in, the result appearing more like caravan storage, in an unpleasant shaley area next to the loo block. Our friends had both booked grass pitches 3months earlier, but to no avail.
For us, camping on the river bank, the single water supply was a long, arm-wrenching walk away - hot water being equally prized due to its rarity during this weekend of follies.
The facilities here consist of a single toilet (without hand-basin), a washing-up area, and two rather elegantly-appointed shower/wc’s. Unfortunately, this completely compromised the availability of the wc’s they housed, and however appealing they looked once inside, this was of little comfort to the poor souls outside plaiting their legs in the almost permanent loo-queue.
Access to the premium, riverbank tent pitches was down a steep rubbly track, which was challenging for some vehicles, and sadly resulted in one poor camper’s Passat suffering front-end damage.
the chatty owner apologised to us for the various short-comings and stressed how much she had invested in the new shop/cafe (still not complete) and the next cash-generator – the fishing pool. We pointed out to her that maybe the availability of shopping and fishing were of less importance than the provision of basic facilities.
The site is also untidy and unsightly in some areas, with a seemingly abandoned artic trailer centre-stage, proclaiming on its sides “Insist on the best”.
Don’t be persuaded by the website – the shop was not complete at the time of our visit, nor was the fishing-pool, and there is one camping-pod, shoe-horned in amongst the caravans. There does seem to be a gap between promise and fulfilment here.
Plus points – beautiful area, lovely riverside setting (for tents only) in the lower field, and a proper, cosy country pub 2 minutes walk away, with good ale and hearty meals.
I’d give this site a miss for a couple of years, unless it has a major change of focus.

This site will probably be wonderful once established but.
We stayed on Bank Holiday weekend - asked for hardstanding pitch but ended up on grass - there was not enough electric hook up points for the amount of caravans that they had - splitters were used which was not ideal (not even sure if they are legal)as we kept tripping out due to others overloading.
There are 3 toilets but 2 of those were in the shower rooms - which are lovely don't get me wrong - however when there are over 100 people on the site and there was a rally on you often had to queue for 45 minutes just to use a loo. There was plans for more showers but it is more separate toilets that are required. We had to use our own facilities and after paying top dollar for the few days was a bit upsetting.
I would not have gone to this site had I known there was a rally on with the lack of facilities - and no hot water even for washing up.
Location is lovely and cannot be faulted but as the owner told us she had never been to a campsite before she started her own was a little scary with how she was overloading. There was definitely no 5m ruling here. One of the seasonal pitches had a motorhome put in its area as the owners of the caravan were not coming but they decided to turn up as the weather was nice - they left the next day as they had no privacy.
I have to admit I was glad to leave - the rally spoilt it for me as the access down to the rally field was not the best all of the car owners tended to park up wherever they could around the caravans and have their engines running.
Plus side - there is a lovely pub a stones throw away which did lovely food and quite reasonable and Shrewsbury and Welshpool are a short drive away.
I will not return to this site again this year but maybe when it has all settled down and it has been running for a while I may return and give it another chance.
