After reading the description on the Internet and previous reviews we were somewhat disappointed when we arrived to find nothing more than a field with a small portacabin for the facilities. There was no one there and no instructions as to where to go etc so we had to ring the mobile number and someone came to show us where to pitch.
Once parked up the first thing that struck us was the road noise, it wasn't what I would have called peace and quite as described, however perhaps this wouldn't have seemed so bad if there had been other people on the site to create some kind of noise but as we were the only ones there it seemed like all we could hear.
We personally felt the site lacked prettiness, some plants, trees, just something so it didn't feel so much like just a field but an actual campsite and although I appreciate these small sites are often just that at £19 per night at the end of September we expected more, as to be honest that is more expensive than bigger, better sites with much more to offer, that price did include £1 per night for each of our dogs and £1 per person as we we non members but I don't see how they can justify charging for the dogs when there's nothing there for them ie an exercise field etc. And very few sites charge for dogs.
We can't comment on the area as we decided to leave to next morning as felt the site just wasn't for us but the owner was really good about it and gave us our money back for the second night which we really appreciated as I know they didn't have to.
I'm sorry to be the first person to put what seems to be a negative review about this site but I just felt other people's expectations may be high like ours were and didn't want other people to be disappointed too and we do generally do a review on all sites we go on.
In conclusion I feel to justify the price the site requires either more doing to make it more appealing or a price reduction to fit in with other CL/CS sites.

Visited Fourways last week in August. 2 adults and a pooch were made very welcome by friendly owners who were very helpful.
The campsite was quiet after the previous Bank holiday weekend which was good for us as first camping experience for pooch so didn't want to overwhelm him.
Campsite is in a lovely location and easy to find. Owners pride themselves in keeping site well looked after and clean.
The site is quite small but I prefer it that way. Nice level grassy pitches. Owners like you to park the car at other side of site after dropping off which is a good idea to stop site becoming a mud track. Basic but adequate washing up facilities, with hot and cold water. Spotless shower room and several equally clean toilets with ample hand wash, toilet rolls etc. Separate ladies toilet again very well kept.
We had a comfortable night here, except for pooch trying to walk through the tent walls, though he soon discovered he could open the zip.
Would love to have stayed longer and keen to return as surrounding villages are lovely to stroll and a lovely deli in Bubworth which allows cider sampling and has very friendly staff. Loved the little pub on the corner next to campsite. Made ourselves and pooch very welcome.
Wish we could have stayed longer.

What a great family run site.
We stayed here in August for 5 days. We were met by the owners on arrival who welcomed us and showed us to our pitch. They explained the layout of the site and gave us some information on the local area to ensure we had a good stay.
The site is very well maintained, flat well cut grass and very clean toilet and washing up area. There are 3 toilets and 1 free electric shower. There were plenty of facilities for the number of campers visiting approx 8 families and couples. There are some lovely dog walks down the rail trail and some excellent bike rides. The village pub is a typical rural pub which we found very friendly and welcoming, near to the camp site.
Sue gave us some directions to the charming Boot and Shoe pub at Ellerton which is a picturesque village with a stop off at Aughton church achievable by bike.
We took the children to York Maze. Highly recommended.
We also visited the seaside at Filey and had a great day out in York walking around the walls.
The children loved the space to play at the campsite ad we all enjoyed an impromptu game of cricket one evening.
We would definitely recommend this site and wish Sue and Martin our very best wishes for the future.

We stayed at Fourways Camp Site as a large family group, including 3 tents and a motor home. We all found the site well laid out, very clean and Sue and Martin were very welcoming and informative. We phoned before arriving and they were there to show us around the site and give us paperwork and information. We had a query on the prices as these were not clear at time of booking, but this was sorted out quickly and fairly. The site is very quiet and small and was mostly grass, with 2 or 3 hard standing plots, we could pitch where we wanted. All pitches had electric hook up if required.
The kids loved the football area, which was separated from the camping area, and had lots of space for ball games. The toilet area was very clean, Martin was always friendly and chatty during cleaning. Unfortunately they only had 1 shower and this was in the unisex toilet area, the shower was free and was electric so plenty of hot water, and as there was only one other tent staying on the site other than our group, this was not an issue. The washing up facilities are basic and lacked a light, we mentioned this to Martin who said he would install a light asap. Took the bus into York from 100yds away from campsite, local pub 100 yds away, although the pub did seem a bit rundown, the Indian takeaway attached to the pub was average. Martin recommended 'The Spice Mill' indian restuarant nearby and this was excellent.
The campsite felt very relaxed and private. In case of an emergency a list of local medical centres, A & E and a local vets would be beneficial.
The surrounding area is flat, a disused Railway line nearby for biking/walking, several footpaths, although these were very overgrown when we stayed and you do need to travel some distance to visit the more popular places.
All in all a lovely campsite, thanks Sue, Martin and family for a lovely holiday.

What a gem!
We consisted of 2 families in 2 tents with 4 adults and 3 kids in total.
Day before we were due to arrive the owner text to ask when we would be arriving approx as she wanted to make sure someone was there to greet us. Very nice touch.
When we arrived we were met by her husband Martin who showed us where to set up and explained the area etc.
The site is level and looks out on to fields, it is just off the main road but traffic is not busy. There was only 2 other groups so there was plenty of space with a field been made available for ball games.
As previously mentioned there is only a portocabin of a few toilets and 1 shower, there was never any waiting. They were kept very clean. We did feel that there needed to be somewhere to put your belongings when in the shower but this was a small detail. Pot wash area was always clean and plenty of hot water at all times.
After pitching up we headed to the pub/Indian restaurant which is 50 yards away. Everyone on the campsite had had the same idea so it was very busy. The locals and bar staff were very friendly. We had a meal in the Indian restaurant the food was lovely but service wasn't the best. Though we weren't in a rush so it didn't spoil our evening.
The owner came to see us on the Saturday morning to take payment and asked if we wanted our ice packs refreezing. Much appreciated.
We had brought our bikes and headed off on the rail trial. This is excellent for family cycling very flat with very few roads to cross.
Would recommend this site to anyone!

My partner and I have just returned form fourways this weekend and was very impressed with how friendly the owners were, they could not have done any more to make our stay better. The campsite was lovely, the grounds where flat and very easy to pitch and you had plenty of space, the shower blocks and toilets where spotless. We will definitely be returning to this site again. Thank you for your hospitality.

This was a great little camp site, with everything I needed: space for the kids to run about (including football goals), clean showers and toilets, washing up facility, electricity, a really friendly welcome and barn owl to watch with the girls at dusk! Information was given on arrival of local places to visit, shop and eat, which was all very useful. Not sure what else I could possibly have needed for our impromptu night of camping.

Visited on a boiling hot week end in July 13. Site is small and simple with good quality grass area. 3 caravans and about 6 tents when we were there. Lots of space with this number. Facilities are basic 1 x womans toilet plus a unisex toilet(2x)/shower combo with an outside washing dishes area. All spotlessly clean.
The owners were very helpful and friendly throughout with lots of tips on things to do.
A great area if you have bikes with some fantastic (nearly car-less) lanes to cycle on and the whole area very flat so all easy going.
Local pub is very friendly (though lacks a garden) and there are some other nice pubs within an easy cycle.
Not many sights around and all pretty flat but it is a very peaceful and pleasant rural location.
Thoroughly recommend.

Booked here for 2 nights May day bank holiday, staying saturday and sunday nights.
Site is excellent, small but very well kept, pitch size good, and well spaced. Was easily enough room for our tent, windbreaks and car parked alongside.
Ground was flat, and easily had the pegs in.
Owners very friendly, visible and ensured we were met on arrival, shown pitch and amenities pointed out.
We didn't have kids with us this time, but there was more than enough play space on the site, and since there was a football goal, had to have a couple of efforts on it on the short walk to the pub.
Speaking of the pub, it's literally a 2 minute walk from the tent, staff and locals were friendly, draught lager was good, and has open fire too. Did't need it as was lovely weather, but always a good point in a rural pub.
The pub houses an indian restaurant, and the food was exceptionally good. Very sensibly priced too, and plenty of it. You buy your drinks at the bar and don't pay over the restaurant beer prices.
The facilities were enough for the number of folk on the site, and were clean and well maintained.
All in, a very good site, and we would recommend to anyone. We'll be back no doubt.

Stayed at Fourways caravan site for a weekend in April.
The site is level and right on the edge of Foggathorpe village, only 50 yards from the local pub.
The site has everything you need, a small shower and toilet cabin with a veg prep area, all of which are kept very clean.
There is also a good Dog walk from the village on an old disused railway line which goes for miles.
Everyone at the site and in the village are very friendly and Sue and Martin who own the site really go out of there way to make sure you have everything you need.
Had a great weekend and will be returning later in the year
